Hi. I know it’s a long time down the road. But which model was this please. Love the tone from it. What gauge strings. Any recents vids playing it. Cheers John
found the label - not easy to read as details are handwritten, but seems to read: Clipper SBO, BW10564 not sure what gauge strings it has on - I am ashamed to admit that they are the same as it came with :( My only excuse is that I have a wall full of mandolins ahead of it in the 'need re-stringing' queue. I bought it when I was playing in a local barn dance band, but It really hasn't seen much playing since I moved to North Wales a few years ago.
I am 67 and just come back from 2 weeks in Ireland. Went to a few trad nights whilst there at Larkin’s at Garrykennedy Tipperary Great nights. Has made me want to try tenor banjo. I have bought an Ozark Kells 19 fret tenor but don’t like the tone and it’s so heavy 11.5lbs. So I think an open back 17 fret (short fingers)like yours would be better. I found your clip on UA-cam and loved the tone of yours. That’s why trying to find out which model. Thanks for your replies. Cheers John
61 here - came late to playing seriously, but having a ball playing with 'The Old Scrotes' (that's the band name obv. but also a fairly accurate description). I guess I would be interested in selling - our house is simply not big enough for my collection of instruments these days. I am based in Prestatyn - you anywhere nearby?
I’m in Gosport Hampshire. South coast next to Portsmouth. Bit too far away to collect. How much would you want for it ?? Does it have a case and would you post it?? Cheers John
It's a 'grafton clipper' short scale banjo and the tune is the harvest home. Not been playing it much recently, so no other vids, sorry. Mostly I play mandolin. I'll drop a link to my band's UA-cam stuff later. No banjo in there either, sadly. I should start using it again really now that you have reminded me :)
Cheers Col. Appreciated 👍👍

Hi Col. From some bits I’ve just seen on UA-cam there is possibly a label inside the pot with serial number. Etc.
cheers John
