Thanks very very much! I had a lot of fun planning this out, learning new skills like painting, researching more ways to add reptile enrichment to the build. Reptiles can see way more colors than we can, and they often see colors in UV! So I included a lot of textures, levels, plants, hides, heat gradients, and cool misty places so that an animal can choose how it wants to spend it's day.
@@LukeBugAdventures I love that you built it for reptiles to actually enjoy and be comfortable in! Sometimes people will build enclosures that look amazing, but not really thinking about if their animal will actually like it. The fact that you put so much thought into the animals needs rather than just making it look good is amazing, and it shows how much you care about animals 😄
You made an "AWSOME" enclosure! Lord of the Rings is by far my family's favorite. My 10yr old son Rylan said he and his brother Adrian love your channel.

He reminds me of Ed Roberts before he got used to being in front of the camera, and being such a fun, awesome human being to get to know. Thank you so much for liking my build! My mom and I love the books and movies, so we wanted to do The Shire justice. I definitely picked up new skills learning how to paint cobblestones and weather wood. I"m not artistic by nature - I can't draw very well, but this inspires me to learn!

I am a Kiwi and I bought a house in Hobbiton/Matamata in 2003. Ironically despite living there, I never made it to the film set there, although I have been to other filming locations around NZ. I've never actually read the book, nor seen the movie. Great enclosure though! Well done :D

I do have wonderful mentor-friends in the reptile community that I message or call whenever I have questions about making an enclosure, husbandry, uv lighting, heating, diet, etc. The FB groups are great as well and very very giving of advice, photos... I could not raise my reptiles safely and to the best of my ability otherwise - my mom always says "remember, you're standing on the shoulders of giants"@@SeattleSeaDragon
Any small to medium humidity / tropical loving reptile would do very well in here. There are 3 heat gradient layers - the top of Bag-End, inside the hobbit house, the 2nd layer with the road, and the 3rd layer with the other hobbit houses. The moss will retain a good amount of humidity. There is more humidity by the fogger, and the ground where the larger plants are. As you can see, there are many climbing opportunities at different levels, so an arboreal or terrestrial reptile would do great. There are multiple colors - I chose those on purpose because reptiles can see more colors than humans, and this is another form of enrichment. Texture is a form of enrichment too, so we have moss, plants, wood, sand (the road is reptile safe sand glued with silicone), stones glued to front of smaller hobbit house. So really, it depends on where each reptile chooses to spend it's time time and live it's life.

Yes, the Hobbit house is 3D printed - the design is from STL files on Etsy - my mom re-designed it to be a reptile hide with a removable top, removable front door, and 3 large front planter areas. We had a local company 3D print it - I don't have a 3D printer.

I do have wonderful mentor-friends in the reptile community that I message or call whenever I have questions about making an enclosure, husbandry, uv lighting, heating, diet, etc. The FB groups are great as well and very very giving of advice, photos... I could not raise my reptiles safely and to the best of my ability otherwise - my mom always says "remember, you're standing on the shoulders of giants"@@SeattleSeaDragon

What type of reptile(s) did Luke have in mind when setting up this amazing enclosure?
Any small to medium humidity / tropical loving reptile would do very well in here. There are 3 heat gradient layers - the top of Bag-End, inside the hobbit house, the 2nd layer with the road, and the 3rd layer with the other hobbit houses. The moss will retain a good amount of humidity. There is more humidity by the fogger, and the ground where the larger plants are. As you can see, there are many climbing opportunities at different levels, so an arboreal or terrestrial reptile would do great. There are multiple colors - I chose those on purpose because reptiles can see more colors than humans, and this is another form of enrichment. Texture is a form of enrichment too, so we have moss, plants, wood, sand (the road is reptile safe sand glued with silicone), stones glued to front of smaller hobbit house. So really, it depends on where each reptile chooses to spend it's time time and live it's life.

Was the Hobbit house 3d printed or from games workshop ?

Yes, the Hobbit house is 3D printed - the design is from STL files on Etsy - my mom re-designed it to be a reptile hide with a removable top, removable front door, and 3 large front planter areas. We had a local company 3D print it - I don't have a 3D printer.
