I used to live in Amsterdam until the end of 2000 - and this area (IJburg) simply didn't exist back then. Most of it was still water, but then they basically built an entire city there. We went on a holiday to Amsterdam a few years back, and stayed in IJburg. The tram would still stop on the other side of Central Station.
I know that building land out of water is something that we Dutch routinely do, but when you really think about it, it's absolutely amazing.
The Netherlands got the most beautiful and best tram system in the world ! I love it !
The Amsterdam tram network, a superb undertaking, always gets me how quick the trams stop, they must have a very good WSP (Wheel Slip Protection) and incredibly quick of the mark. I also like how the top catenary cable is straight has an arrow, but the contact wire and droppers are staggered for the collection pan. An immaculate system, always seems very tidy and neat.
Het Amsterdamse tramnetwerk, een geweldige onderneming, weet me altijd hoe snel de trams stoppen, ze moeten een zeer goede WSP (Wheel Slip Protection) hebben en ongelooflijk snel van het doel. Ik vind het ook leuk hoe de bovenleidingkabel recht is, heeft een pijl, maar de rijdraad en druppelaars zijn verspringend voor de opvangbak. Een smetteloos systeem, lijkt altijd erg netjes en netjes. (used google translate, so I hope it worked :) )

Rotten weather in Amsterdam that day but still very nice to see another part of the city. Names of the stop written on the timeline is a great idea. Gives you an opportunity to find it on the map and follow the route.

Leuk om een tramrit te zien langs het mooie busstation. Ziet er ook handig uit voor extra ritten ipv alleen calamiteiten, omdat het zo druk is op CS

yes it does
Combino is an excellent tram. We have them here at Budapest aswell, they accelerate very fast. They are very very silent. And on a good track you dont feel the tram is running. Although our combinos are sadly electronically capped at 60, while 50 is the max.

@@angeloplus4 We have all the space between stations to allow 70, but our transportation company is pussy to do so. And the law wont change 50 for all trams here. Sadly its written metro and light railway can go 70 inside the city. Trams only 50. Im jealous :///

Ik ga ook soms naar ijburg met de bus! Of soms naar centraal station met de tram of metro! Om naar steigereiland te gaan!

Is Centraal Station IJzijde voortaan altijd begin/eindpunt van 26? Ik dacht dat het een keerlus is die gebruikt wordt als er werkzaamheden zijn aan de Oostzijde.

Dit is nog steeds een keerlus voor werkzaamheden omdat de Oostzijde op CS wordt verbouwd, die trams rijden naar de Oostzijde of de Prins Hendrikkade en om dat te ontlichten keer tram 26 aan de IJzijde/De Ruijterkade

@@Noah-rh8ir that doesn't answer my question. I was trying to ask about all the construction works happening in front of Centraal Station at the tram stops - why are they doing that. You can see if you go into the community tab of RPT and scroll down a bit.
@@BritishAPT It's all part of the renewal of the tram stops in front of Central Station Amsterdam, called 'De Entree' (or Entrance): www.amsterdam.nl/projecten/entree-vernieuwing/. The project started after the completion of the Nord-South subway line at Central Station. Because of a delay in the delivery of the track changes for the western section of the tram stops, those trams have to be diverted to the eastern side: www.amsterdam.nl/projecten/werkzaamheden/de-entree/tramwerkzaamheden-cs-omleiding/. You can the read the Dutch version in English using Google webpage translation :)

Keith Boles yes. A metro line was the original plan. It had to go to the city of almere but the costs were way too high. They realized a tram line which connects the area of ijburg as furthest instead.
Don't forget IJburg is new, built on a man-made island. There is another one in the making, all within the city limits.

Jammer dat tramlijn 10 niet meer rijdt naar Azartplein. Ben ermee opgegroeid.

Waarom heeft de tram geen beïnvloeding op de stoplichten bij 8:00? Is hier makkelijk te realiseren. Er is nu een onnodig oponthoud van bijna 1 minuut.

Omdat er genoeg kijkers zijn die de gesprekken leuk vinden, en behalve dat houd niemand van muziek of stilte, mensen willen de echte tramgeluiden horen.
