I don't know the specifics, but look up a TAS run of this game, it's really hilarious what kind of shit you can manipulate it into thinking you typed. Basically, the game was looking for *READING* specifically, and jerma *only* provided read. Either the devs were too lazy, or the *code they worked* with didn't allow *shortenings* of answers *to* count as *real* answers. That *doesn't* explain how Ulysses turned into lee, but *again*, *the* specifics I'm foggy with. All I can really explain is that generally, longer answers are better, because you could accidentally type sequences of letters that turn into answers. Using this logic, I could type out this entire paragraph as an answer to "Name a Marvel movie", and, after feeding it through the game code, have the game think that I actually typed "Doctor Strange" (the D in READING, O in only, C in code, T in they, O in worked, R in shortenings. S at the end of shortenings, T in to, R in real, A in real, N in doesn't, G in again, and finally E in the. For reference, I've highlighted the words. Perhaps if you looked through the paragraph enough, you could find many other movie titles that would pop up as answers.) Unlike many of these types of gameshow-based games, this game accounts for typos and is both incredibly lenient and somewhat strict in certain cases with its answer system, instead of punishing you for things like spelling mistakes (if you spoke "San Francisco" out loud, why would the host check spelling if theoretically, you were speaking out loud instead of writing?) This is both its most entertaining feature and its fatal flaw. 1. Single letters are accepted as doubles whenever a double is needed. 2. The game checks if the letters match the sequence of an answer, but ignores any letters in between. (For example, if you need an answer of "butcher", "butt checker" would be accepted because *B* *U* *T* t *C* *H* *E* c k e *R* ) As a result, the reverse of the previous condition ends up being true too: doubles are treated as singles when only one of a letter is needed, so "butcheer" and "butt checker" are identical as answers. 3. For some rounds, partial answers are accepted if they are, or come to when interpreted by the game, a 100% match to at least one word of the answer. This is why "read" isn’t accepted as "reading", but for example, "grass" would be accepted as "keep off the grass". This information explains why Jerma got some answers correct despite inputting entirely different words: correct letter sequence and automatic double letters out of singles. This game has an amazing TAS by Heisanevilgenius that takes advantage of this and inputs ridiculous phrases that still win the game 100% and leave the rival family without a single dollar to their name.
