Can't believe I only saw this vid for the first time today. I really enjoyed it. Only a few weeks ago, we were walking some of that area and it is mighty tough if not impossible in the scrub; off the established tracks. What a huge difference the snow cover makes to that terrain. Guthega is my fave ski spot and I've ventured up a few easy slopes a few hours from the dam but this year will be different and your vid really helps drive that passion to get out there. Thanks.
Thanks John! I hope to get back out there this season and get some better skiing footage again! :) It is a great time and some nice steeps out there to get the blood pumping. Hope you had a great summer on the trails! Cheers
Absolutely a great ski touring video. I am fortunate to ski the winter at Alta, UT in the USA so we get to tour on a weekly basis. Looks like you were using a Line ski but I could not tell which bindings you were using. Personally I like the Dynafit Rotation 10. My touring mates are into G3 Ions. It would be really helpful if you did some more videos on Alpine touring. Although I have worked in a ski shop for many years I didn’t really understand the benefits of dedicated Alpine touring gear until I got out and actually skinned up for a couple of hours and then transitioned to ski down. Enjoy the rest of your season and come over to Alta, UT if you are in the United States.
Thanks mate! Yeah I was using some Line Vision 98's (new line ski) with some Marker Kingpin bindings. I am really stoked on the setup and they ski really nice! Yeah I would love to visit UT. I did stop in at Park City for 2 days many years ago and had a great time. But I see some of the other terrain and pow you guys have out there and am very keen to come and ski it!
When you get back to the car park, those were some long shadows. Thanks for sharing some mountain terrain from down under. P.S. Hope you didn’t think about store responsibilities once on your skiabout.
@@PatriotFootbeds Nah dude, I was being serious. I'm a Victorian. I ski the Victorian high country every year. I've spent seasons in NZ. The crags are serious terrain, and those were some seriously technical sections. Very difficult, dangerous skiing. You see the double black areas in the states, a lot of the cutes in places like Heavenly or whatever, and they aren't as tight, steep or long, as that. It literally looks like Europe, at least for a few hundred meters.
@@timblizzard4226 Cheers Tim. Yeah definitely need favourable snow or it is super sketchy in there. Hard to translate into video. But very fun skiing when it's on! Looking forward to another great season ahead! :)

And a wild RK appears in its natural habitat!
Rumour has it, that creature still roams these parts.

Nice line.
Thanks!
When did you go? After the mountains shut down that year or in season?
Ahh I presume you uploaded it straight away so at the end of August that year?
@@someguy2972 Yep, amazing to see that contrast in conditions of then to now.
Nice. Which GoPro you used?
This was the Hero 7 Black. :)
@@PatriotFootbeds Nice footage. I'm thinking of getting the silver because it looks better without the front screen imo. 👍
