Fail to function. The tiny amount of water allows it to heat up slowly over time if you overfill it it'll essentially dissipate the heat and stop working quickly
I don't think the chemical pack would heat up as effectively.
It would use too much of the energy heating the excess water insted of the food. Water takes a lot of energy to heat.

Did you ever figure out how to get the ration heaters to work better (I haven't watched many of your videos yet)? Not yo get too scientific, but the heat is generated by the heating pad getting wet. So if you make sure the water gets all over the pad, it should generate more heat.

It would be cool if we would have time to do that. Usually you’re pouring the dry coffee mix in you mouth and drinking water to get it down and MRE is cold half the time because you’re the last platoon to get food. The candy would go for 20 bucks a packet easy.
The penne pasta is actually better cold because it’s not very good to begin with. But the peanut butter is amazing on one of the pound cakes you can get in the meals 🤤🤤🤤

Emmy. In the field you would take your peanut butter hands and grab some dirt. Rub them together until dirt and peanut butter successfully fall off your hands and to the ground. Then you wipe off remaining dirt on your pant leg. All clean ready to eat.

When I was in the Army the MREs didn't come with the heaters. But a drill sergeant taught us a good recipe: the freeze-dried fruit mixed with the coffee creamer and sugar with a little water. It was like ice cream but not cold.
My dad used to bring us kids the freeze-dried fruit from his MREs as a treat whenever he came back from the field. I love that stuff.

These cannon balls kinda remind me of a family recipe that we use for Christmas called Reindeer Balls

Basically you mix puffed rice cereal, peanut butter and powered sugar together until a type of dough forms. Roll that into balls then cover in melted chocolate, almond bark or my family did chopped nuts and chocolate chips. No measurements sadly because it was all done by the judgement of my aunt. Look up a peanut butter ball recipe for more exact measurements.
just pulled the sour dough chocolate cake out of the oven smells great. will frost latter for our Sunday family dinner. I may frost with vanilla frosting with berry drizzle, the grandchildren will like that we are going out to a sm ranch to be to eat. yes its spring here where I live in the highlands of central Mexico, very windy, but sun is reall nice and warm, not hot. thank you for all your ideas love them all.
Emmy! Please try something by Loma Linda! Their products are soooo good when prepared right, but they are only few videos I've seen of their products on UA-cam. Stuff like people eating either the FriChik Original cold from the can (EEEEWWWW) or just making a boring and a poorly prepared veggie dog.
I've made fabulous vegetarian "cheeze-steaks" and "chik'n and rice" as well as delicious "tuna" salad sandwiches, tacos, sloppy joes and more! Their bizarre canned presentation belies their potential!
And it justs seems like a line of foods that have "EmmyMadeInJapan" written all over them!!

I would have substituted the sugar with the chocolate mix to make them even More chocolatey! Then eaten them out of the pack instead of rolling them since they're delicious that way >.>

That was awesome! I think it might've been better to mix the cocoa powder with the peanut butter. Maybe reduce the stickiness of the peanut butter, and mix the sweetness throughout. Looked really good anyway, for what you had to work with. The soup looked good.

Thumbs up for the innovative MRE variation recipes. Thumbs down for the "Fresh? Hell no!" commercial.
Many Military personnel heat up the meals on their engines of the equipment/vehicles. Also, they all should be carrying their own kit that has a bowl/plate/spoon/fork/canteen I know my husband had to carry his with him any deployment. As well as first aid & water purification kit. 😉
Oh and ever since Gov't went cheap on the MREs removing Tabasco, tobacco, sugar and most of the TP the guys get that sort of stuff shipped out in care packages along with shampoo and other needful things. 😊
Who else remembers the freeze dried fruit cocktail square block in the early/mid 90s? My sisters and I fought over the cocktail when our parents would bring home an MRE.
The peanut butter balls is very much like what I said about the "Potato Cheese" idea of which Emmy also made. This is an ingenious approach to add new way to liven up an MRE. Not only would this be great for our service members, if you think about it, folks who receive humanitarian rations for either being in a war zone or due to natural disaster.
I don't recall having time or patience to have recipes with my MRE's but to be fair, I had the 1st/2nd generation version that were nutritious but not strictly speaking edible. GLTI
If you got a hook up with someone at HelloFresh, suggest they offer a jar of the Fry Seasoning! We like trying new recipes but the pork chops were amazing. My family wants them on regular rotation but I can't duplicate the fry seasoning exactly.

There are some really good MRE's and some really bad lol, like the ones my hubby keeps bring home, for some reason he actually likes the chicken fajitas and Chili Mac. By far the worst IMO, but him an his unit love em for some reason. My fav is the Beef Ravioli
(though when he's gone he only eats one MRE a day because of the really high cal count. coffee and the bread/crackers with the cheese/jelly or peanut butter for breakfast.

Funny story, him and everyone who only ate 1 MRE a day lost or maintained their weight, while the one person who ate an entire MRE for every meal gained a tun of weight and got flagged for the mass amount of weight gain XD

I don't know if anyone else said this (you are beloved by your many fans) but I'll bet that the peanut butter already had some sugar in it, so the addition really wouldn't have necessary. And you are awfully cute!

Unfortunately hello fresh has only two meals my picy family will eat. One brother is challenged an one brother has Crohn's disease. We are limited in our foods. I miss eating so many foods.

I gotta say Im not a fan of hello fresh. I like the concept, but we tried it for free and had a really hard time actually cancelling the subscribtion. We were only able to cancel it after two months and thats why I dont trust this company.
