BenS123 your an ignorant, you pay for the name Gibson who have been making the one of best quality guitars since the earlie 1900s. Then you pay 3k and get a shitty guitar.
@@doffendoffenson4917 bullshit. That's absolutely shit for 3k. When you pay for quality that is supposed to be setup by a pro luthier, and recieve this sub standard thing that an Epiphone would put to shame, he has every right to complain. Gibson has definitely lost their touch when it comes to quality craftsmanship. You're paying for a custom piece of art, not just some half ass playable fiddle.
I've always been a Strat man, but once I ordered a ES 335 from Gibson. It looked great and I was excited to play it. The excitement evaporated quickly when my left hand started to hurt sliding up and down the fret board. They had 'forgotten' to file off the ends of the frets completely, so a small part stuck out. I called Gibson and talked to a rep, who was arrogant and practically called me an idiot and said that their guitars were perfect. Well, the guitar went back for a full refund and they also lost me as a customer for good. This might have been an isolated case, but the rep's behavior was unacceptable. He wouldn't work for me very long!
@@brandonsergeon5915 Are you the rep he is talking about? LOLOLOL Terrible fret work is common on 3k Gibson's didn't you know. Over priced gear that used to be a quality product.
@@Bixll09 I own figured es 335, les Paul standard, a sg, Taylor, 2 fenders, a schecter and a Ibanez. Never had a problem out of a Gibson. I have learned that there are just some bad guitars and it happens from every company. Had a strat that was horrible worst guitar I've ever owned but I also have a strat I love. 335s have binding and fret nibs so I definitely don't believe this guy it's obvious he's full a crap. I'd go as far as saying he's never even played a 335 or he would know his story is crap.
Lyxander Rojas The same reason kids today will buy "Supreme" clothes for thousands of dollars pr. sweat-shirt and old people will buy Macbooks for much more than they are worth.
I feel for you man. I experienced some horrors with Gibson customer service and repair too. Finally, they sent me a new guitar that works but I learned my lesson - Never order a guitar before seeing and playing it.
Kiesel CS6S built the way you want. Great fret work, great setup, great finish for about $800 - $900 cheaper... Absolutely top notch custom guitar builders, and the options they offer is insane!
You can check out their online builder also and get an idea of what options are offered, and pricing if you want one built to your specs. A great company to deal with...
Kiesel guitars are probably the best bang for your buck guitars on the planet. I bought a CS6 back when they were still Carvin and got tons of extra options. Koa top, abalone inlays, coil splitters, even my initials engraved on the truss rod cover. All in all it ended up being around $2200. A les Paul with all those extras would be easily twice as much. Never had any problems with it and it’s a custom built dream guitar that I’ll play till the day I die
Everyone, don't buy a 3k Gibson made by a machine with imperfections. Buy a Heritage H-150 for 2.5k made by hand with no imperfections in Kalamazoo Michigan, the ORGINAL plant. THAT is REAL authenticity.
I used to do guitar repair and always had problems with Gibson on the phone. I lived in a small town and Gibson wanted me to buy $5,000 in Gibson supplies before they would give me the time of day. The moment I heard a rumor that Washburn was making a Les Paul copy that Gibson was going to litigate, I ran out and bought a fantastic Washburn WP-50. Best guitar I ever bought.
Bob Greaves every guitar dealer I've spoken to, independent ones as well as big chains all say the same, horrible customer service from Gibson you never get parts or models in time, and when it comes to other brands, they almost always get it done. And I'm a Gibson player myself..
*Gibson = QUANTITY not QUALITY.* Rumor has it, the CEO is beyond incompetent in understanding quality control, production methods, employee morale, innovation of products, and marketing. Personally, I think things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.
I'm so relieved that we're here three years later and that CEO and his minions, are history. Got an amazing (and flawless) 60's LP Standard and could not be happier. And then, just a few weeks ago, I got a new '61 SG. Heavenly tones and excellent build quality. If I were to nick pick? Nut could have been a tiny bit better set, and the frets more polished, but they're polishing up quickly for me the more I play it.
What a shame. In 2016, I went looking to buy my first Gibson Les Paul after dreaming about owning one for 45+ years of playing. I found the most gorgeous Les Paul in the store with blue flame finish in 2016. I'm not sure what model it was, but I think it was some sort of Peter Green tribute. The setup on it was not as hideous as yours, but it was bad. Action was very high, binding had a ridge like yours. And this one was priced at over $4k, list price $7k. On the other hand, I found a transparent blue Epiphone Std Pro that looked almost as nice, but played 5 times better. One of the best necks I've ever played in 45+ years. I bought the Epiphone for $599 and I couldn't be happier. The fit and finish are superb, although it's poly instead of nitro, and the Epiphone Probucker pickups aren't quite as sweet sounding as the Gibby's, but damn close. The pickups can easily be changed if I ever choose to, but in the meantime I have an awesome playing guitar that sounds great as it is. No regrets at all, and my prejudice against Chinese made Epiphones is completely erased. Maybe someday I'll buy a Gibson, but that's way low on the priority list. I have the Les Paul I always wanted.
as an owner of a honeyburst plaintop 1999 Epiphone LPS-80*Rosewood Board*, as well as the owner of a 2009 Gibson Natural Zoot SG*Ebony Board*, I can tell you with 100% honesty and impartiality, than my Epiphone has, and still does, play so much smoother, and better than my Gibson... with half the fret life left.. granted, I run flatwounds on all my guitars, but even still, my SG feels like I'm fighting it once I start climbing the neck, as where my Les Paul beckons me to just keep on playing it.. After 15 years of playing, and wishing I had a Gibson, I won't give up on my SG.. so someday I'll get it to play just as good as my Epiphone, maybe even better ;) Here are my beautiful girls i.imgur.com/A0D0tJM.jpg i.imgur.com/7AbGI3R.jpg
Wow... that high-E side is very concerning. Absolutely bizarre. The truth is that Gibson products are just not really good anymore, and they are clearly not worth their price tag. I got a studio deluxe pro back in 2014 and the finish was literally sticky for almost 2 years after I bought it. When I complained to a Gibson rep on the phone in a completely courteous and respectful way, the ASSHOLE first laughed about it and then he tried to blame it on me. Real good customer service! When I told him that I was still in the return period, he said these exact words: "Go ahead, we don't care. Guitar Center already bought it from us, and we don't take stuff back from GC. It's not our problem if you return it. It's GC's problem, and they'll just sell it to someone else." Nice Gibson... what a damn joke of a company.
really is a damn shame. Gibson in spite of the fact they're the #1 company these days isn't even a shadow of what it used to be. They used to be the finest guitars in the world now there is just absolutely no quality control. This is why I am buying a PRS where they are all handmade and Paul's just a goddamn control freak when it comes to quality control.
we live in a high consumption society. Gibson probably know allot of buyers provably don't know feck all about quality craftsmanship it's obvious they can't keep up with Chinese exports this is where Gibson is heading it's obvious. You don't get epiphones with such awful problems Gibson will move to China that's if they haven't already.
I almost pulled the plug on a Gibson but after reading this, I'm sticking with a good ol' PRS. Very sad that Gibson has stooped this low! It's a shame to see such tradition in guitar making going straight into the toilet. This is what happens when the race for profits defines a company. The greed outpaces its own tradition for quality which was its legacy.
Circuit7Active I bought a blueberry burst standard but I bought the HP at first I bought the T and I did not like it, so I sent it back and bought the HP and really like the way it plays. The only thing I don't like is the robot tuners but I can either get used to them or take them off
Circuit7Active l have a prs se tremonti and nothing beats it. The actions perfect, it's smooth, light, and plays fantastic. Not to mention the incredible tone. It's more than half the price of a Gibson and in my opinion way better.
I visited the Gibson factory in Memphis and I was shocked by the quality of the guitars they had on display in their "Showcase" there. Some were almost unplayable. A clear case of a company trading on their name and previous glory. This is why it is such a shame that we are losing local guitar shops and everyone is buying online!
I don't think we're losing local guitar 🎸 shops, I think they're losing us because I find in Guitar Center that Jackson, Grestch and ESP were 10x better, I will NEVER look twice at a Gibson again. Overpriced, Overrated, Undervalued, it's like buying a Ferrari but NEVER driving it because it has too many issues.
@@BadEconomyOfficial The guitar center here in Manchester CT SUCKS, they carry jack shit and none of the guitars are even close to setup. Help doesnt help and when they try they are so uninformed about the products in the store (yes even with the limited stock). You have to hire people who at least have some people skills and know something about the product ! Also go thru their used gear... I dare ya ! None of it tested, even if they say it was. Ive seen horror stores. I tried picking up 10 or 12 different guitars and they were all unplayable. In CT we use to have Daddys Junky Music and the people who worked there were easy to talk to and knew their gear and ya got to know them and they knew what you liked and were after etc. Ya gotta remember a lot of musicians work at a guitar store. But these "musicians" that work at the one in Manchester cant even be bothered to do their job. No people skills and it doesnt take much to make me happy but when your seemingly annoying them by even being in the store is crazy shit. Just like Gibson, both companies have had to file for bankruptcy. We need these old mom and pop stores, they may not have had the stock, but they made up for it in other areas. I miss Daddys and after my last GC visit i will honestly NEVER go back and that is the 3rd store ive been to in the CT area that ive walked away actually glad I didnt buy what I went there to buy and just walked out. People like that dont deserve my hard earned money. As i said in my post above were in a day and age where we have access that in the past you didnt have and that is finding some of these $500 guitars that blow away US made products. Go buy that brand instead of a Gibson. Also ive played Chibsons that would out play this guitar, im not kidding. Ive seen some recent Chibs that blew me away after they had been setup and tuners etc but those guitars could be setup and intonated and did stay in tune and had gorgeous tops. I know they are a veneer. $400 after all the new hardware and a good setup on a Chibson is still $2300 less and outplays this guitar. Im not saying to buy a Chibson necessarily but if ya really must have Gibson written on a guitar, save yourself the $2300 and just buy one. Some are POS and some arnt too bad, but thats a $225 gamble before setup and parts and you will know looking at that guitar closely if its even worth doing that work on. Also ive talked to people who got a bad one and sent it back to China and they sent another one that was a really nice guitar. So its almost like you get better warranty work thru china than you do here in the US of fucking A. There is something seriously wrong with this picture. Sorry for the rant but get over the name being on the guitar buy a nice Epiphone, ESP, PRS SE, G&L etc they all make great overseas guitars for peanuts. And for $2700 you can get one hell of a US PRS, G&L, ESP etc. So theres price tiers all over the map to suit anyones needs. Fucking go buy a Fire Fly, at least that guitar can be setup and played. For about $200 !
@@ctcards2636 You’re not wrong, the local guitar center here in AZ is actually not that bad. But there was an old man who walked in and wanted to play a Gibson, I didn’t say anything. But I thought to myself: “that poor old man is hunched over more than usual.” Gibsons are heavy Gretsch is not that heavy, it felt better and it was only $600.
@@BadEconomyOfficial I have one of the cheaper Steamliner models and after i set it up and did my magic with the Bigsby, its a SAWEET guitar. Ive left it stock. Its much better guitar than the Electromatic model i had back in the early 00s. Gretsch is finally making nice guitars under $1000. :-)
Always try before you buy. There's usually one that stands out for whatever reason or reason, weight, feel, tone. .My least fave Gibson finish is heritage cherry sunburst, but I have 2008 and 2018 standard in that colour..
I know this video is 6 years old but for anyone reading this don't get a Gibson... go try a Heritage Guitar. Specifically the Artisan Aged Custom Core H-150 in Dirty Lemon Burst. Such an amazing Guitar!!
nah the best thing is you can get the most expensive epiphone completely change all the parts for top grade shit get some good PU's in there and you got something better than a gibson
I'd rather get a typical epiphone les Paul that's like $500 and upgrade the tuners pots and the pickups than buy a Gibson or just spend my money on a fender and actually get a good product for the money I'm spending
Buying guitars before trying is asking for trouble. It's like shopping with a blindfold. A mistake I, through stupid amounts of dumb luck, have never been punished for. Thinking back to it, I got an exceptionally amazing les paul among others, but boy that could have gone badly.
Ciaran Flynn yes very crazy! especially when they talk about how good their quality is . I just hope the new one is good, I'm kind of worried thou. It should be here in 2 weeks.. To be continued
It all comes down to the workers. Mistakes do happen and we all make them and that guitar should have never even been fretted or finished because the issues could have easily been observed even with the naked eye. Machines offer a chance to see precise issues as well. Wait until smoking pot is legal in all states, throw that into the American worker's blood stream along with more psychotic drugs and 3 hangovers per week and what we get, the guys buying the products, is close to junk. It is an unfortunate situation that started in the 70's and is going to be one of the main reasons businesses will soon replace many workers with robots. Soon it will be took late to care about quality because quality can no longer wait.
John Doe but gibson does quality control and its signed off . It should have been checked even before setup also there guitars are plexed so how the hell did the fret nibs go wrong and how did the guy setting it up never noticed
I think these lameA$$es at Gibson did this on purpose. They may even have been planning on leaving the company and find a new job. They put their own BS ahead of the guy who was going to buy this guitar and their day will come back, it's just the way it works. Let me be clear here, Gibson guitars are not my preferred guitar but saying they make crap is not true. Listen to all the great recordings made with these guitars , even today. It is an unfortunate situation that some people in that company are trying to destroy it from within, likely because of petty politics. They knew, know and simply don't care and it's sad because the buyer pays them.
Your total discontent and complaints with this guitar are legit! I have experienced the same thing with Gibson. I especially do not understand the guitar passing inspection when the treble side of the bridge is bottomed out and the action is way too high! WTF? I had the same exact issue. At its lowest setting the action was still 5/64ths of an inch! I had the same neck binding issues with my ES-137 Custom as well as pathetically sloppy fret marker inlays and a couple of cracks in the finish by the neck joint. I got rid of it and bought $399 Ibanez AF-75 for my Jazz guitar. The build quality is superior to the Gibson at a tenth of the price. Granted the Ibanez has sub-standard electronics and hardware, but it's a beautiful well made guitar that sets up and plays like a dream. I now own 3 of them. One I changed out the pickups and controls, upgraded the tuners to Grovers and put a better quality bridge on it. So for around $800 I have a guitar that blows the Gibson away! Back in the 70's and 80's I had some superb Gibson guitars. That's why I paid the big bucks, for the quality. I will never buy another Gibson with the poor build quality they offer these days. Too bad as that guitar is beautiful. Good luck!
stringbender57 thank you! I just can't believe how many people are ok with this guitar and think I'm crazy! It blows me away! I guess that's why Gibson can send out shit. To many people are unaware
I'm a guitar tech and i have no idea what's going on in there factory. There fret department Is horrible and I do a lot of repairs to brand new gibson. A LOT of Fret jobs on a brand new Gibson?
Brandon D I used to own a brand new Les Paul (made in 2004). About two-and-a-half years after having it I somehow managed to cut a line across one of the frets with the G string. After that, I couldn't really do bends around that fret anymore because (a bit like how this guy is saying with the nibs) the string would get caught in the groove. Is that normal? I've had a Strat now for nearly nine years and I've had no problems with it.
cmhfl... "Cut a line across one the frets ?" Hmmm... Highly unlikely. That sounds more like a dent in the fret from being dropped face down on the fingerboard. Wouldn't be the first time, and it sure won't be the last.
cmhfl + Worn or damaged frets are not unusual. A luthier (or a really good tech) can replace frets. Just make sure you find someone that has a reputation for high quality work.
I just bought a 2017 Les Paul standard. The intonation is spot on, the pickups are amazing and the construction and finish are gorgeous. Then again, I didn’t just order a guitar and hope for the best. I played a bunch of LP’s in a few stores over a few weeks and bought the one that was the best all around and had best neck feel for me. No matter the company or the price, I can’t see how anyone could buy a guitar any other way. Gotta play them, they are all unique.
Really sad that such an iconic brand has such low standards. Everyone wants a gibson so they will continue to make low quality and sell for high prices. I just bought an s275 and the guitar doesn't have any major issues but the fit and finish is not so great. I really hope they do something to get this iconic brand back on track.
shabouga This is why I've been recommending agile guitars or PRS. Agiles will still be better than the Gibson although not perfect. But at least for the money you don't feel raped. Picked up a used SE Zachary Meyers with USA pickups and pots, switch and jack for $400 and DAMN! I don't play my USA PRS then the SE and feel, yeah this feels $3200 less expensive. The Gibsons are just....disappointing. I want to try a 339 and see how the Memphis line is doing.
If consumers stop blindly purchasing they’ll go out of business, change their ways or be bought out by another company. For my part, I’m not supporting their horrible business practices and will now avoid Mesa Boogie with the acquisition
Gibson only cares about making pretty instruments, not playable instruments. The only way to aquire a Gibson that is to your liking is to play many at the retailer or to go to the Gibson factory and pull up a chair at the end of the production line and inspect and play them all until you find the right one for you.
It took 3 tries to get me one without problems!! I would say they have gone down hill.. The guitar that I did get is awesome however I went to guitar center and they had the same exact guitar I have and it was awful. Not sure why Gibson doesn't care about quality. I guess they don't have to when so many are uneducated fan boys.. I get a lot of shit for my video by people that don't no any better they think I'm picky. And don't no what I'm talking about. They think this guitar is perfect. Crazy I'll never get it.
I have a 2017 brand new SG in binding all catching the top string, neck like a roller coaster track. The chairman said a couple of years back it doesn't matter the quality of guitars we produce as people will always buy the "brand" name/ I have a couple of Gibbys from 70's and 80's. I certainly would not buy a new one now. People save and spend a load of hard earned cash on their "Gibson" guitar and feel good, only to have to book them in with me to make them playable. Such a shame.
Jason Post i agree we live in high consumption times. idiots with more money than sense want a piece of Gibson cool Gibson know exactly what their doing and the idiots buying half of them probably don't know they got a piece of shit because it's never been off the stand.
I’m really happy with my 2012 Standard. Thank God it’s weight relieved as it is still 9.5 pounds. Maybe it’s due to Sweetwater’s setup, but, it’s smooth as butter with a 4A matched slanted grain maple top. Maybe I got lucky.
I haven't opened the box yet but there is a brand new Fender waiting for me. I have reasonable confidence, my guitar will be without these issues. I thought I was a Gibson guy. I went into a large retailer and pulled 25 les pauls and a couple sg and nothing was worth 3k or even 2k. I am not a Gibson guy. That fractured my idea of instruments completely. Gibson isn't worth the trouble. It is for people who don't really need to rely upon an instrument. I'm sure the custom shop can get decent guitars together for artists and put the epiphone logo on them, but the guitars sent to shops are dismal for the cost. Chibsons are not far off. Fender is a little f'ked up as well, but their guitars seem more consistent and a far better value. I have an old Schecter that is amazing and a new on as well. I would put my Blackjack Solo II against any Gibson for sound and playability. Gibson is a pretty guitar and I love the sound of some. The necks are also too chunky for my preference. That said, the epiphone matt heafy les paul has a wonderful neck size and feel. If Gibson ever included that neck style, I might have to reconsider. But like this fellow, I am not accepting bullshit in that price range.
The Stop-Tail doesn't have to sit flush on the Guitar body, unless you over-wrap. The correct height of the Stop-Tail is the height at which the strings clear the back of the bridge plate.
Roy Benavidez you can't hate on the builder and inspector, that's not how it works. Do you think they want to let shit like that go? No...they don't, and the builders are doing half ass jobs, not because they want too but because they're forced too, they have no choice because money makes the world go round and their going to pass off BS like this because their management wants guitars out the door, in large number and FAST. Work in any manufacturing industry and you'll see that all day.
It is not just 1 person is it? I do not believe so anyway I thought it is several people per guitar I could be wrong on this but whatever, it is not doing Gibson's formerly fine reputation any good to pass guitars like this for public sale.
what looks like a dip in the fretboard at the neckjoin is meant to be there. it's to give the bottom strings clearance because they move a lot when played.
I near bought a Gibson a few years ago. Was so excited. The pictures I looked at before I went to the guitar store were amazing. AAA top etc. I think it was a standard I can’t remember. And when I finally got to the store after a 4 hour drive I played it to my Shock was terrible. It was just terrible. I was so disappointed. I really wanted a Gibson. In the end I bought an ESP Eclipse. 1000 x better ! Absolutely beautiful neck and sound. And was around AUS$500-$1000 cheaper!
Who did you order this guitar from? I'd say they are selling counterfeit guitars. I own 4 USA made Gibson Electrics, and 2 Gibson acoustics, all of which are excellent guitars. The oldest is a 1972 model and the newest is a 2014, none have flaws like you're showing. I probably took 6 months for replacement because it's a long way from China.
Are you serious? Lol playability is a big issue. If strings are catching the fret edge thats a huge issue. For $3000 it better be set up by a luthier perfectly and need only minor player specific adjustments when it gets to my door...also for $3000 and “Gibson” on the head the tuners should not be that blatantly crooked.... He ordered and paid for a Ferrari and Gibson sent him a Miata painted like a Ferrari.
@@rodrossi9749 well between tuners, a new nut, and a setup...i could have had a BEAUTIFUL AIO Wolf LP half paid for... I LOVE my Les Paul but I should not have to spend that much money for a HORRIBLE nut cut job on a cheap nut that should be graphtech or better stock from the factory. Gibson has had YEARS...DECADES to figure out gremlin issues but they refuse to. Instead they make robotuners lololol... If they’d get their stuff together and listen to their customers that actually play these instruments for a paycheck and their needs, then they would once again be THE BEST guitars in the market...until they listen to us players that play multiple shows daily/weekly with these guitars....ill spend my money elsewhere...ill keep my current Les Paul and enjoy it now that ive spent the $400 extra on it to keep it in tune...but ill be buying other brands that are just as good but half the price. If i want to make an upgrade on a Wolf, thats fine. Ill still have less than 3/4 of the price of a Gibson into it for a guitar that plays just as good or better out of the box and sounds just as good.
I own 30 guitars and purchased my last 5 from sweetwater and all were evh Wolfgang's every single guitar out of the box perfect..not one issue absolutely perfect..
I bought an epiphone and i noticed the one end of the bridge was higher than the other and the magnetics cover was wonky and moved around a bit. But i’m pretty sure the bridge can be fixed and he magnetic cover might not be screwed on place well.
Bought a new Gibson SG about 6 years ago maybe. Looked beautiful, sounded ok. I baby my guitars. So I'm playing it about a year later and I discover the neck BROKEN. The neck broke WHILE IN THE CASE. I called Gibson, gave SN, date of purchase, etc. They asked me, "Did you send in warranty card?" I didn't because IT WAS A GIBSON! They said, "Sorry, can't help you." Had the neck repaired. 2 weeks ago I took I opened case and discovered the neck was broken again - broke while in it's custom case. I own another cheaper SG, a 79 less paul, and Ibanez, and American Fender Strat. I will never ever by a gibson guitar again. Buyer beware!
When I was younger, the hot setup was a Gibson pushed through Marshall valves. Both turned out to be total carp without a lot of after market mods. So I switched to Fender guitars and amps. I never looked back. I spend more time playing and less time tuning, firing and modding.
BanditPanda Yea your right , I have a Les Paul Studio I got about 10 years ago that sounds great. I don't play out any more so the tuning problem isn't an issue but I don't think you can run fast enough to give me a Marshall ha ha ha. Blackstar is the solution.
This is why I bought a Heritage guitar built in the old Gibson plant in Kalamazoo Mi. They know how to build a quality guitar . A Heritage H150 out of the box quality control is way better then a Les Paul standard.
Vintage 30 and about three time the price of s Fender work horse. What you are talking about is expensive wall furniture. Pro musicians usually use Fender or Fender types. You ever wonder why?
I absolutely love my Agile ($229 ) 2000 .... although I am not a lead player but it has a great sound and Cheap !!!!! WOW ... $2800 for that ???? I finally understand .... sorry for your trouble brother !
The paint is sprayed onto the whole guitar then scraped off the binding. They tend to scrape away a lot of the binding plastic too - hence the ridge. I've never seen a Gibson with straight tuners.
I have 3 2014 models and they are all perfect guitars that play beautifully and sound amazing. I bought my LP from Guitar Center Platinum Room and the other two from Sam Ash. The LP was set up already, but I put 10-52s on all my guitars. The others needed to be setup. But that doesn't bother me, I would rather do my own setups regardless. My advice to buyers is don't order from catalogs, these items are human built and it shows sometimes. Whether you can cope with the variables is the whole reason you must see it to spend the big money. Otherwise you become the company dumping ground. Further, they become a reflection of your ability to own and operate a guitar. If you can't determine how to tweak the neck and zero in intonation, you must rely on a tech. In almost every circumstance, buyers expect perfection all around, and that just is not going to be the case... They are unloved strays. You must adopt and care for them to become perfect.
id send it back 30 times till they got it right....i went to a guitar center and kinda bitched about a brand new les paul that was kinda the same way....they was like we can cut u a deal....i said no dude you need to send that pos back....but i got a nice sunburst and a custom now and i love them.....gibson needs to fire their quality control people for letting that shit go
Brent Klein it took them 3 tries!!! but I finally got an HP and it's great! It's funny how people are saying I'm picky I guess they like shitty quality
I have a '17 LP Trad Pro IV. LOVE IT! No issues. I did think you were being picky about the binding nibs, I actually like it. BUT, the tuners were crooked on yours and shitty paint on headstock which leads many to think it was a fake, including me.
Always insist on receiving the quality you pay for, Jason. That being said... I would never purchase a guitar I have not played before handing over my money.
Jason Post they're qc is so bad they're trying to say you're really showing us a chibson. No it's a shitty Gibson. Not your final purchase but u should not have had to go thru all that to get a decent guitar. They want u to pay 8 grand and then it may be made with quality.
Hi from England. I bought a new gibson 339. It was a mess. The faults were too many to list here. I will never buy another gibson. That thing never went anywhere near to inspection or quality control.
It's always best to try before you buy, but my local guitar stores don't have very good stock. If I want a Jackson, PRS, or Ibanez, chances are I'm going to be ordering one off of the internet. Plus, this is a $2,800 guitar. This thing should be damn near flawless. A poor quality guitar with some more minor issues may slip through the cracks every now and then, but this should not be happening with such a high dollar guitar
I had the same issue with a 2016 Traditional Amber. Bend the string a little two far and gets stuck in the bindings. The fret-board is manufactured in a complete state before mounted to the neck. that should have been caught in QC.
In Australia, we have lemon laws to deal with this scenario, you return to the retailer - it is their problem, not the manufacturers - and get your money back or a replacement. Period.
It's really more of a Nibson. One with a clothes line post for a neck. Sadly Gibson spends no more than 10% of your actual retail price building a guitar. Parts labor and all overheads. Some look great, but gawd they fail at so much.
Here's my rule of thumb. When buying a guitar really any guitar I need to see it, play it and know that it fits my playing style and hand size. Ordering guitars online without ever seeing the guitar is always going to be dangerous. When ordering alway shave it delivered to a music store so it can be inspected and played before you accept it. This way if there is an issue the store is responsible....
Ive always wanted a gibson les paul, i am now looking. I played two of the 2019s last week. The nut was cracked on one, so the shop staff got another and the pickup switch was loose. I actually see what people mean now, this is just not acceptable.
Burnzy 378 yup! For those prices they should be great out of the box. its is gibson after all... I here good things about the new 60s standard. I have yet to play one. Good luck
my question is why did it take six months ? , and they made two attempts to get it right ? , i had a brand new gibson songbird , in 2012 , about two months later the neck warped and the fretboard came unglued ! , took it to a gibson certified luthier , he also saw that the entire back was coming aprt , and the binding was coming unglued... keep in mind my room where all of my guitars are kept is perfectly humidity controlled , and all of them are in cases ! hygrometer is checked weekly ! , well it was sent back to the factory under warranty , it took them three months to mail back a totally new guitar.... that one fell apart where the neck joins the body and again the fretboard came unglued... that was it for me traded it in at GC towards a Les paul Standard , which was pleked ?? nope it was all out of sync , strings way too high , because you couldn't set it any lower , worked all of the issues out myself , ... but now it his bad mojo ! , so i very rarley ever play it... my 2010 SG standard... try and keep it tuned ! , iv'e worked on guitars for a long time , it's not like i don't know what i'm doing... no more Gibsons for me ! , all of my fenders are mint ! , no issues period !
I have a buddy who recently purchased a Gibson and he's so in love with the history he will not acknowledge all the flaws with the guitar sad really and you better believe he paid top dollar for it
I have noticed that their quality control has gone down significantly in the last few years, but this one looks more like a poorly put together Chibson! But damn that bourbon burst is beautiful!
johnnybmagic yeah it's very sad! I love Gibson but it's a let down for sure! I couldn't believe how bad that guitar was! The Bourbon burst is beautiful. Hopefully the next one they send will be good. I'll do a video of it too. It will be the high performance version. Stay tuned!
It's really strange how you can get one guitar made that is perfect, and the very next one is garbage. That's piss poor quality control and management...
Gotta agree, seems like theres more to the story, I could be wrong but when you deal with internet sales and customers looking to buy a 4 thousand $ guitar for $ 2,500 from a place on line that swear it's new straight from the factory and that they just happen to know someone who can get them these great deals and they want to pass these savings on to you and they're not really making any profit at all, all kinds of Frigging alarms should be going off in your head , Use a Reputable store/ Dealer to begin with, Not one that you got recommended to from a guy you met in a Bar somewhere and a lot of these troubles will be avoided big time, though things do happen all the time it seems like some people are just the unluckiest people in the world , others are these DEAL seekers who want you to believe that they are the unlucky ones. Im not sure here,
You've noticed their quality control has gone down? been keeping a close eye on them huh? I've been playing and buying Gibsons for 20 years and there's always people who claim "their build quality has gone downhill". It's always the guitars Gibson was making a few years earlier that are the "good ones". 5 years from now you guys will be saying "Gibsons build quality has really gone down....not like the great guitars they were making 5 years ago". It never changes. Whatever Gibson is making now is crap....but the stuff a few years earlier? That's when they were good. Riiiiiiight.
(MADE IN THE USA) when will people stop and understand that, Just because something says it was "MADE IN THE USA" doesn't mean that they can hold it as godly... In fact, in this day & generation, most things that are made in the USA are way over priced and are held in high demand. The sad truth about this, is that more and more "quality" made items are made over seas and are only assembled here in the USA... Full premium items that are completely built in the USA are usually junk... Not always, but i'd say a good 60% turns out to be over priced junk. See the reason items that are manufactured in the USA are so over priced is due to the blinding fact that, the average working us citizen get's a minimum wage of $9 dollars and up... In this case, a company will have to pay, that to its employees while charging a premium on their items in order to keep the business at a steady peak. So in reality, when you have over sea employees getting paid $2-5 dollars per hour, it's much more affordable to offer an item at an affordable price... Granted that they also use cheap materials and parts, most of the time. Most USA made items aren't that great in regards to quality... This isn't my opinion, this is statistically speaking. Don't get me wrong, there can be some great quality items made here in the USA, depending on the company. Example, PRS guitars have amazing quality control and build... But the cheap end of a USA made Paul Reed Smith starts in the 3k range... In all I've seen better put together guitars that came from over seas... Parts & electronics are junk for the most part... In your case, that's pure bull shit! I'm sure you paid a premium for that Gibson. I too had the same binding issues. I switched over to PRS guitars and have been super happy, even though I could've bough a nice used sports bike for what I paid :(
I bought a 2011 Gibson standard SG brand new for 1200 bucks, I have a Korean Made BC rich Bich, The quality of the BC rich is by far a higher quality guitar, Paid like 600 / 700 for it.This should never happen !
I've owned 5 Gibson's: three Les Paul Standards and two SG's. One-- a '93 LP was a fine guitar but wouldn't stay in tune. A '66 SG was phenomenal. The others were simply poor quality and overpriced as I had to mod and basically upgrade everything about them to make them borderline decent, doing the work myself. And these were $2500 to $4200 guitars. I played a friend's Agile 3000 and it blew my 2009 LP Standard out of the water. No comparison other than price: he paid $350 for his and I paid $3,500 for mine. I ordered a top of the line Agile 3200 neck through for $500 from Rondo Music, and it was flawless out of the box---- and I play, jam or gig 6 nights a week and have been playing 30 years. Sold the Gibson's and never looked back. Maybe some of their $6000 to $10,000 custom shop guitars are worth it, but good luck if you buy one and you want to actually play it!
Agile is made by World Musical Instrument, who also make PRS SE,BC Rich,Dean,Schecter,Chapman, and a few more.Probably the best bang for the buck maker since they opened in 1994.
What's sad is that my $200 Jackson, is 10x lighter and 10x cheaper AND sounds both good and in tune, all it needs is new strings and a setup for $100 or less and I got AN amazing playing guitar. EVERY Metalhead was right, cheap is best.
So they sent you... a factory second replacement. Nice. My own experience with Gibson Europe was much happier I am pleased to say. They paid for an independent luthier to fix all the issues I had. He charged them more than the guitar cost me. I had another issue with a bad pickup and Gibson sent me a selection of replacement pickups and said 'choose the one you like and keep the rest'. 100% satisfied customer. Still wary of their QC to begin with though. :)
I just bought a 59 reissue VOS for $4700 and I'm highly satisfied but I went into a licensed Gibson USA dealer shop and examined it up and down and I have no regrets even considering the price paid
You might want to consider "Try before You Buy" I've had Great luck with SWEETWATER Too....They go over the Guitars with a fine tooth comb and I've NEVER had a problem with any Gibsons that I have gotten from them...Best of luck to you!
I agree that its a good ide to try before buy, but Gibson really should be able to have some sort of quality control, this is ridiculous and screwing up the replacement is a joke !
Sweetwater customer here also; I bought a Gibson Firebird from them in 2013 and it was 100% flawless! Other than a few minor personal adjustments to the bridge it was ready to play straight out of the case.
So here's the problem. Some come in great, others at the shop arrive stinkers. The good ones get taken quickly. The stinkers accumulate at the shop. So the more units that come in, the less good are your odds of finding a usable Les Paul among the old crap that won't sell and they won't replace. This is worse when the shop sets aside good ones for themselves and for buddies and preferred clients and online sales.
Bo Huggabee there was a lot wrong with that guitar the neck the tuners the binding the bridge ect.. I guess some people don't know any better or care about quality
The bridge isn't bottomed out -- you can still turn the thumb wheel up, bringing the height down, can't you? But yeah, there are things not so perfect on this guitar. My first Gibson will be a PRS single cut.
That's not exactly respectful to blind people, but you know people working there hate it, it's an absolutely toxic environment and the CEO Juskiewiecz is a psychotic wanker you would not want to spend one day around. We could romanticize and imagine it is a wonderful crafty world of getting to build neat guitars, but it is a soul-gutting experience. And this probably shows in the product.
I love my Gibson, but I will say I do own a PRS SE Tremonti and it is flawless, and this is the Korean one.The action, the finish are just excellent. I paid 375 for it used!. My USA Gibson is great but when compared to my kids USA Tremonti PRS for the same money, he paid 2200 used in Excellent shape, there is no comparison. PRS`s Quality is hard to beat period. I really hope Gibson gets a little better with there quality control because there is just something about the sound of a Les Paul. Good video and I agree, play it and examine it before buying.
This is what you get from a sweat shop! DON'T apologise to Gibson! Gibson should apologise to YOU! GET a Heritage! Made in the same old Kalamazoo factory by EX Gibson Luthiers, MUCH higher quality, much cheaper too!
Thats not only the worst Gibson I ever saw, it's worse than some cheap Squire Tele's That were less than $400 bucks. I have two great Gibson Les Paul guitars and seeing yours makes me pissed at Gibson. How does that get out of the factory?
Bob Boitt yeah that one was pretty bad and I felt bummed because Gibson is supposed to be the best. They sent me the HP version and it's better then I thought it would be after this. They just put to many out to fast so the quality slips and I just happened to get 2 in a row!
I agree. This LP in this video looks like a Chibson. I own 4 Gibsons - 1991 SG Special, 2009 Les Paul Traditional, 2012 Les Paul Jr. Special Humbucker, 2014 Les Paul Traditional Pro II. I also owned a 1985 Flying V. All of my Gibsons have been great playing, sounding, and looking guitars. The only issue I have with any of them is on my 2009 Trad. One of the screw holes for the switch cover plate was drilled too close to the cavity. It plays and sounds like butter though.
I'd be pissed too! A big prollum I see with guitarists and what they think is "better" is the money they've spent on it (not sayin you +JasonPost). Yeah Yeah Gibson is one of the frontrunners in the Axe world but just because one spends THOUSANDS of dollars on it DOESNT MEAN that it wont have flaws like a considered "Low Shelf" guitar would have. Gibson is going thru a rough period and seems to be almost bottoming out and at this point is ONLY ridin on their name from a Great Pasttime... GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER GIBSON! IMPROVE YOUR QUALITY CONTROL AND LOWER YOUR FUCKIN PRICES!!!
If you have people who read post like this one, shame on you Gibson. Shame on you. This customer was polite and reasonable even though he has every right to rant. Just the fact you STILL delivered the wrong thing is staggering. Then pile up all the things wrong with what you did send...I have had Epiphones show up with better quality than this. And you wonder why sales are declining?
Shannon McDowell being honest, I have an Epiphone Les Paul special 2 and it’s a pretty good guitar, I got it a few weeks ago and it sounds good and feels good too. Just goes to show that price and a name doesn’t mean quality
Just ordered a new Gibson. The Damm thing had so much static interference and noise it wasn't funny. Very dissappointed in in what is supposed to be a top notch product. Very poor quality control.
It is genuinely disconcerting when end-users (of any product) have higher expectations and quality control standards than manufacturers. It is by no means just an issue with Gibson; I have had to replace many "new guitars" that were defective in one way or another (usually many ways).
JASON, AND TO ALL READING THIS, FOR YOUR MONEY, YOU CAN BUY A PRS SE MODEL GUITAR, THAT PLAYS PERFECT OUT OF THE BOX, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE MADE IN KOREA, PAUL GOES OVER THERE AND INSPECTS WHAT IS GOING ON AND HOW HIS GUITARS ARE MADE, IF HE IS NOT HAPPY HE WILL FIRE PEOPLE ON THE SPOT.. I OWN 3 PRS SE MODELS AND FOR THE MONEY THEY ALL PLAY AND TUNE GREAT, COUSIN FIGEL
Michael C Yep. I've tried a lot of Gibsons but a PRS Bernie Marsden was way better. I feel really sorry for the retailers having to try to sell these things.
Yes, it's made in the USA, however, who's doing the craftsmanship of the guitars? I bet it's not those old school pros you have in mind, it's most likely non qualified or poor skilled and poorly paid immigrants assembling and setting those overrated guitars. Nowadays, I rather get a guitar made in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand or even China, like ESP, Epiphone, Gretsh (entry level models). They're well made, most of the components are pretty much the same except for tuners and pickups, body wise the wood used is also the same, and they play well out of the box... some only need minimal adjustments. Gibson is living on its name, their reputation is going down the drain. I've seen in music shops several Gibson LP and SG with ludicrous defects that not even a 200 bucks guitar has, such as cracks in the finishing, glue, cracks in certain joints, that uneven neck as in your case with a badly set up bridge. I mean, c'mon!
I agree cobra. i have a 2016 epi lp pro custom and it is perfect! had luthiers that do my setups tell me that. i also put a lot into that and my mim strat. my lp has emg zakk wylde pickups, grover locking tuners and the tail piece and bridge that go on gibsons. love that guitar so much
Just buy a PRS594 and be done with it. I had so many Gibson quality issues I sold mine all off and replaced them with PRS and they are far better in playability and quality.
I have always owned Fenders, but had an itch to try a Gibson. Went to my local GC and picked one out, liked it and took it home. Within a week the push/push knob would not stay in the down position. Took it back, got another. Within 4 months on the replacement, the neck pickup would cut in and out before finally not working, so I took it in for repair. get it back, withing another 4 months the boost circuit quit working and would cut the neck pickup out. It has been in the repair shop for 4 months, Gibson warranty BLOWS! It is probably partially my fault for getting one with all the coil tapping features, etc. But still, 4 MONTHS!!! Once I get it back I am dumping it and going back to Fender or something similar. The tone is nice, but quality is poor and so is service.
Frankly, so what? 4 Gibsons a month out of how many sold in your area per month? My 2013 R8 les paul was perfect and remains the only guitar I've ever owned that I've never taken to a tech to set up. I've literaly not adjusted a thing on it since it came out the box (except string changes obviously). On the other hand the nut on my new Fender American Vintage 52 tele was poorly cut and needed changed by a pro. Did I throw the baby out with the bathwater and pawn the guitar? Of course not, I recognised that the guitar was otherwise perfect so I paid a few bucks for a nut change and now it plays like a custom shop tele. And that's a Fender, not a Gibson!
You must not care about good action and intonation if you never set it up -- no matter how good the guitar is. And I can say this, I've found far more flaws in Gibsons, even Custom Shop models than I have in MEXICAN made Fenders. For that matter, I've found more problems in a single CS Gibson than I have in 1000 Fenders.
BanditPanda I would say... "... sets up their own guitar,l. ...unless they've only been playing a very short while. Knowing how to set up your own instrument is ultra important. A pro might not set it up properly for you and you need to understand the instrument. Of course if you've got money to throw away... But today, you've got UA-cam for all sorts of dyi stuff so there isn't much of an excuse unless one is a beginner. Hell.. even fixing that one high fret is easy with a tint bit of elbow grease.
Rock and roll my ass. I have the exact same model and I have none of the issues you have. The first thing I do with all my guitars is send them to a good person to set up the action and make sure the neck is adjusted properly. The nut on all new guitars always needs to be filed to perfection for the strings you use. Intonation and string height should also be checked at this time. My new LP is the nicest one I have owned and I have owned many. I currently have 5 LP's dating back to the 70's.
Jason Post, you handled that a lot better than I would have! That guitar had ZERO business leaving the factory. Cringe-worthy "craftsmanship" on what is supposed to be "superior" instruments. I am happy to learn you finally got the model you actually ordered, with suitable craftsmanship. At that price point you reserve every right to be nothing but completely satisfied with your purchase!
Starting at around 2019, their quality went way, way up. I’ve got a 2019 Classic, and a 2022 Standard, both are supreme. I hope they made this right for you.
Whats happening is the Chinese copies are better than the US made originals now. Once that happens its all over. These are design and finishing issues.
Stephen A The Gibson fans don't want to hear this, but my Agile 3100 MMC is a lot better than my USA Gibson Explorer. I haven't played a new Gibson in a long, long time that really felt "right". My 1972 ES335 was great. Now, Gibson is a has-been company.
I’m not a Gibson hater but I find them really awkward to play. My first real guitar was a G&L Legacy Special and it felt perfect from the get-go. When I play out people come up and comment on how it cuts right through the mix.
Right on I bought a les Paul standard same issues. I contacted Gibson who said they had never heard of these problems???? maybe they should check out you tube.
For $3000 you have every right to complain about any minor imperfection
afrohippie258 They probably sent him that guitar because he’s a crybaby!!
BenS123 and you’re a fucking dumbass
BenS123 your an ignorant, you pay for the name Gibson who have been making the one of best quality guitars since the earlie 1900s. Then you pay 3k and get a shitty guitar.
@@nickdyas5412 shitty guitar?? Go and fuck yourself maybe if you go to a doctor you might be able to remove that hyper ocd of yours
He wouldn't work for me very long!
gibsons have fret nibs so how did the fret stick out?
Hope you reported their ass. Customer is always right.
They have the dumbest people imaginable answering the phone.
Someone explain to me why a factory made guitar is being priced at 3k?
Lyxander Rojas they’re on debt lol
Lyxander Rojas The same reason kids today will buy "Supreme" clothes for thousands of dollars pr. sweat-shirt and old people will buy Macbooks for much more than they are worth.
The name. That's it. No 'improved quality' just the name.
A logo and headstock shape
Cuz they’re the best guitars ever
I feel for you man. I experienced some horrors with Gibson customer service and repair too. Finally, they sent me a new guitar that works but I learned my lesson - Never order a guitar before seeing and playing it.
erasing dream GIBSON from my head and adding GRETSCH. suggestions please..
Great choice.
Kiesel CS6S built the way you want. Great fret work, great setup, great finish for about $800 - $900 cheaper... Absolutely top notch custom guitar builders, and the options they offer is insane!
jrex427 just found one for 1200 nice looking guitar!
You can check out their online builder also and get an idea of what options are offered, and pricing if you want one built to your specs. A great company to deal with...
Kiesel is good, I'd also look at Heritage and Godin if you must buy new. I ended up buying a Norlin era LP Custom and that's a great guitar.
Or... Get some used Tokai / Burny Made in Japan, for a really good price ;)
I love those old Washburn Falcons with the through neck!
I have the Les Paul I always wanted.
as an owner of a honeyburst plaintop 1999 Epiphone LPS-80*Rosewood Board*, as well as the owner of a 2009 Gibson Natural Zoot SG*Ebony Board*,
I can tell you with 100% honesty and impartiality, than my Epiphone has, and still does, play so much smoother, and better than my Gibson... with half the fret life left..
granted, I run flatwounds on all my guitars, but even still, my SG feels like I'm fighting it once I start climbing the neck, as where my Les Paul beckons me to just keep on playing it..
After 15 years of playing, and wishing I had a Gibson, I won't give up on my SG.. so someday I'll get it to play just as good as my Epiphone, maybe even better ;)

I have 2 Epiphones and 2 Gibsons. The Epiphone s have a nice flawless finish. My Gibsons do not.
Weird Old Uncle Kenny sorry but you really don’t. It’s an epi. Buy an old 60’s to 70’s LP
Wow... that high-E side is very concerning.
Dartheomus I
really is a damn shame.
And know we read GCs rating got downgraded to ccc-, outlook negative. So does Gibson.. Everything fires back at some point...
A PRS SE made in Korea has less defects than this. What a shame, had been considering the blueberry burst.
Circuit7Active I bought a blueberry burst standard but I bought the HP at first I bought the T and I did not like it, so I sent it back and bought the HP and really like the way it plays. The only thing I don't like is the robot tuners but I can either get used to them or take them off
I agree Rouschno1, if I were to get one, it would have to be the HP. Worth the extra dollars.
Circuit7Active A PRS made in korea usually has NO defects, actually.
Circuit7Active Yes, I love my Korean PRS Se. Fantastic value and quality.
@@ctcards2636 True
Always try before you buy. There's usually one that stands out for whatever reason or reason, weight, feel, tone.
.My least fave Gibson finish is heritage cherry sunburst, but I have 2008 and 2018 standard in that colour..
I know this video is 6 years old but for anyone reading this don't get a Gibson... go try a Heritage Guitar. Specifically the Artisan Aged Custom Core H-150 in Dirty Lemon Burst. Such an amazing Guitar!!
The binding is scraped by hand and the unfortunate "line" you feel is common on many gibsons. It's a product of an assembly line moving too fast.
lordchunkyfat I forgot it was scraped by hand. Way to fast. They put out like 800 guitars a day that's why there is so many flaws
lordchunkyfat it's a Chibson. I can easily see it the Bell Cap it's a Chinese
it is in me shite bobby
its a beautiful guitar but whats the sense in having one just for the looks , I recommend not buying a Gibson at all
its the resale value that keeps me coming back...
I'd rather get a high end epiphone rather than a Gibson USA
Grant Jarnagin at least with an Epiphone u know what you will get
Jason Post 😆
nah the best thing is you can get the most expensive epiphone completely change all the parts for top grade shit get some good PU's in there and you got something better than a gibson
I'd rather get a typical epiphone les Paul that's like $500 and upgrade the tuners pots and the pickups than buy a Gibson or just spend my money on a fender and actually get a good product for the money I'm spending
i have an epiphone les paul standard pro $530 and im happy with it
I've used Ibanez for years and find their guitars pretty comfortable to play and haven't had any issues with them
Buying guitars before trying is asking for trouble. It's like shopping with a blindfold. A mistake I, through stupid amounts of dumb luck, have never been punished for. Thinking back to it, I got an exceptionally amazing les paul among others, but boy that could have gone badly.
It's unbelievable that it even made it out of the factory, or at least it should be.
Ciaran Flynn yes very crazy! especially when they talk about how good their quality is . I just hope the new one is good, I'm kind of worried thou. It should be here in 2 weeks..
To be continued
Good luck, Hope you can get a refund if not though that may be a long shot at this point. Maybe turn it into a 594 if you have the extra dough!
To many people are unaware
stringbender57 This Bourbon Burst is a FAKE. MADE IN CHINA. THIS IS NOT A USA MADE GUITAR
bobby stroem nope! it is 100% real USA crap!
I thought all genuine les Paul's have ebony fretboards?
Mark Fulton Standard models are rosewood. customs used to use ebony but now are Richlite
I'm a guitar tech and i have no idea what's going on in there factory. There fret department Is horrible and I do a lot of repairs to brand new gibson. A LOT of Fret jobs on a brand new Gibson?
Get a PRS, trust me there amazing
Brandon D I used to own a brand new Les Paul (made in 2004). About two-and-a-half years after having it I somehow managed to cut a line across one of the frets with the G string. After that, I couldn't really do bends around that fret anymore because (a bit like how this guy is saying with the nibs) the string would get caught in the groove.
Is that normal? I've had a Strat now for nearly nine years and I've had no problems with it.
I don't remember if my les paul custom is 95 or 98, anyway 90 something and it's a killer machine. Nowadays Gibson quality is bad
My son's generic (Thomson) $180 Les Paul just arrived, and we are satisfied so far...no horrifying defects like yours. :)
I really hope they do something to get this iconic brand back on track.
shabo
shabouga This is why I've been recommending agile guitars or PRS.
This is a very common problem with all Gibsons from around 15 yrs ago onwards. Their quality control is horrendous, still it gives me more work......
Jason Post i agree we live in high consumption times. idiots with more money than sense want a piece of Gibson cool Gibson know exactly what their doing and the idiots buying half of them probably don't know they got a piece of shit because it's never been off the stand.
i‘m quite happy with my 1994 lp standard.
Who ever made that guitar should be fired and the inspector
Yup and thts why it's best to buy a guitar firsthand than to order one it's a common mistake but I learned tht shit from my first buy
Wow. Reading such comments on this video has convinced me to go for a PRS Custom 24 instead of say a Les Paul Standard T.
Outstanding choice
I ordered a Harley Benton LP for under $200. Can't be worse than the Gibson for a 15th of the price, right?
It's a replacement straight from Gibson. They finally gave me a guitar I liked... it was no easy task either let me tell you
video of the good one?
what looks like a dip in the fretboard at the neckjoin is meant to be there. it's to give the bottom strings clearance because they move a lot when played.
lol, my epiphone feels and sounds perfect, nothing sticks out, or in, or inside out, or whatever
HAHAHAHA im speechless
I near bought a Gibson a few years ago. Was so excited. The pictures I looked at before I went to the guitar store were amazing. AAA top etc. I think it was a standard I can’t remember. And when I finally got to the store after a 4 hour drive I played it to my Shock was terrible. It was just terrible. I was so disappointed. I really wanted a Gibson. In the end I bought an ESP Eclipse. 1000 x better ! Absolutely beautiful neck and sound. And was around
AUS$500-$1000 cheaper!
I bought a 30th Anni PRS for £2k + my old PRS… way, way better than any of the old Gibbys I owned… fact
I don't think anything can make a person like this happy they will always find something to cry about
Are you serious? Lol playability is a big issue. If strings are catching the fret edge thats a huge issue.
For $3000 it better be set up by a luthier perfectly and need only minor player specific adjustments when it gets to my door...also for $3000 and “Gibson” on the head the tuners should not be that blatantly crooked....
He ordered and paid for a Ferrari and Gibson sent him a Miata painted like a Ferrari.
Sorry, have to agree with Jason, most of the complaints are nonsense.
Too bad 955. An LP thru a Marshall is STILL the way to go!!YMMV
BanditPanda Yea your right , I have a Les Paul Studio I got about 10 years ago that sounds great. I don't play out any more so the tuning problem isn't an issue but I don't think you can run fast enough to give me a Marshall ha ha ha. Blackstar is the solution.
955rocket yeah right. You people.
Brian Donnelly thx bro!
I have a couple cheap Epiphone's and love them! I use them live. Nothing wrong with cheap!
Brian Donnelly
I also have an agile 2000 as my first non-srat scale guitar. Very pleased!
They want u to pay 8 grand and then it may be made with quality.
schecter makes a great guitar for the money as does jackson, esp, ibanez and prs.
Hi from England. I bought a new gibson 339. It was a mess. The faults were too many to list here. I will never buy another gibson. That thing never went anywhere near to inspection or quality control.
That sucks a lot to hear
Before you buy. Try it out. Nothing beats playing a guitar first. Good look.
NiagaraTim how? Go to a store, thats how!
NiagaraTim Go too a music store dude!!
David Morisset my first thought too
He says in the video, twice, this is a replacement guitar Gibson sent. And it was still the wrong model sent to replace the original purchase.
Period.
Looks like a Chipson.
a chipson might just be made better then this one.
ChiBsons are much nicer than this.
looks like a Shitson
It's really more of a Nibson. One with a clothes line post for a neck.
Sadly Gibson spends no more than 10% of your actual retail price building a guitar. Parts labor and all overheads. Some look great, but gawd they fail at so much.
TheGalwayFarmer it is shit son
Good luck
@@jasonpost1771 Even cheaper end Yamahas are also top notch in terms of playability right out of the box.
my question is why did it take six months ? , and they made two attempts to get it right ? , i had a brand new gibson songbird , in 2012 , about two months later the neck warped and the fretboard came unglued ! , took it to a gibson certified luthier , he also saw that the entire back was coming aprt , and the binding was coming unglued... keep in mind my room where all of my guitars are kept is perfectly humidity controlled , and all of them are in cases ! hygrometer is checked weekly ! , well it was sent back to the factory under warranty , it took them three months to mail back a totally new guitar.... that one fell apart where the neck joins the body and again the fretboard came unglued... that was it for me traded it in at GC towards a Les paul Standard , which was pleked ?? nope it was all out of sync , strings way too high , because you couldn't set it any lower , worked all of the issues out myself , ... but now it his bad mojo ! , so i very rarley ever play it... my 2010 SG standard... try and keep it tuned ! , iv'e worked on guitars for a long time , it's not like i don't know what i'm doing... no more Gibsons for me ! , all of my fenders are mint ! , no issues period !
That's piss poor quality control and management...
im shocked he isn't complaining about the pickups being too heigh out of the rings too.
The Sports bike won't appreciate but I bet the PRS will!
Gibsons rarely stay in tune. My experience. Every song you have to tune it, maybe in the middle of the song,
Agile is made by World Musical Instrument, who also make PRS SE,BC Rich,Dean,Schecter,Chapman, and a few more.Probably the best bang for the buck maker since they opened in 1994.
wozzlepop nice! Glad it worked out for you! I sent it back and they upgraded me and it is great!
From Fort Wayne here. Love Sweetwater.
Sweetwater did a good job on my guitars that I bought from them in setting them up right.
Sweetwater is awesome. Great customer service too
They're living off the name. Next time tell them your name is Joe Bonamassa; you'll get a good one!
Stan Esposito for sure! You have to be someone to get a good one and probably for free too
So here's the problem. Some come in great, others at the shop arrive stinkers. The good ones get taken quickly. The stinkers accumulate at the shop. So the more units that come in, the less good are your odds of finding a usable Les Paul among the old crap that won't sell and they won't replace. This is worse when the shop sets aside good ones for themselves and for buddies and preferred clients and online sales.
there is nothing wrong with that guitar XD
Bo Huggabee there was a lot wrong with that guitar the neck the tuners the binding the bridge ect..
I guess some people don't know any better or care about quality
Bo I am sure Mr Post will be glad to sell that "nothing wrong with it" guitar to you.
How can you send something like that out of the factory?, mind boggling.
yeah i agree
This video was posted in 2017 and I was wondering how this turned out... did gibson make it right?
The bridge isn't bottomed out -- you can still turn the thumb wheel up, bringing the height down, can't you? But yeah, there are things not so perfect on this guitar. My first Gibson will be a PRS single cut.
I bought a 2016 Studio with zero issues, guess i was lucky.
Man Studio versions are one of the best guitars Gibson ever made but i thing the key tuners are shit
Dude! 2016 studio is my baby! That guitar was $800 new and had perfect quality!
My 2016 Les Paul came with the nut cut wrong.
Plek Smek!
Mo Bettah My Explorer have the same problem and its an replacement the frist had an ugle frist fret
Gibson shit .
I can see that gibson has been giving blind people jobs as well. 😍
And this probably shows in the product.
jonas brave... Henry Juszkiewicz. "Aye, there's the rub."
ferrari lover f40 looks like opie from family guy is there quality controller
This is one of the reasons I went with fender last time I bought an American guitar
Welcome to Gibson guitars
Brutal. Sad, too. For that kind of money, you can get way better. Knaggs if you can thrown in a little more money. PRS and Suhr.
Mauricio Vazquez prs make the best
eastman are awesome too
FENDER!
Derek Reno Even with a Mexican Fender you get insane quality for the money.
Get an Ibanez Prestige, worth the money.
@@snaggiz Right on !
Yep, that’s pretty indicative of what Gibson produces for their customers these days. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah I'm happy with my Epiphone Les Paul Standard for 1/4 the price lol.
I'm confused... Which guitar should I buy. Gibson or Epiphone? Does anybody could give me a suggestion..?
Friday, 5:00pm special.
Sounds like a good time with your mom
I have a goldtop classic and I love mine 🤷🏽♂️ I guess I got lucky! Yay! 😂
Yeah you got really "lucky" lmao🤣
Schecter is another company that's killing it...incredible quality for a reasonable price, and i've never had an issue with any of them...
I second that!
Michael C Yep. I've tried a lot of Gibsons but a PRS Bernie Marsden was way better. I feel really sorry for the retailers having to try to sell these things.
I'm really not a fan of PRS, but I agree with you. Hell, I've seen Squires that had better QC than Gibson.
Cousin Figel Yes, you are exactly right. I have an SE Santana model. It is better than any Gibson I have owned.
yep, and also better sustainability and also stay in tune well, +floyd rose bridge but still got that warm tone
I agree cobra. i have a 2016 epi lp pro custom and it is perfect! had luthiers that do my setups tell me that. i also put a lot into that and my mim strat. my lp has emg zakk wylde pickups, grover locking tuners and the tail piece and bridge that go on gibsons. love that guitar so much
4:33-Yes, I can see it. (Crooked tuning machine.)

That's it, top dollar top quality
Equals Fender.
We get 4 new Gibson's a month in for fret work and setup! Your guitar is unexceptable. The nibs are a joke, So much for there Plek machine👎🏻👎🏻
MATT STONE thank you!
Every good guitar player worth his salt has a new guitar set up / adjusted to his / her own preference.
Jeremy Bayles thx man!
Third one was great!
Buy a Paul Reed Smith.
That thing has crooked bridges and it sucks ass
Strat is still the best
I’m not a Gibson hater but I find them really awkward to play. My first real guitar was a G&L Legacy Special and it felt perfect from the get-go. When I play out people come up and comment on how it cuts right through the mix.
I had a ES335 with the same binding. The binding feels like it can bleed your hand...
Right on I bought a les Paul standard same issues. I contacted Gibson who said they had never heard of these problems???? maybe they should check out you tube.
