Sospesa fra cielo e mare, Erice è un antico borgo posto sulla punta più occidentale della Sicilia. Con i suoi 751 metri di altezza è uno spettacolare belvedere sul Mare Mediterraneo.
Dalla rocca si può vedere la costa da Marsala a Capo San Vito, appena sotto si domina la città di Trapani e le isole Egadi, mentre nelle giornate nitide la vista spazia fino alla Tunisia.
Abitata anticamente dagli Elimi, Greci e Romani fu, per questi ultimi, sacro luogo di culto della "VENERE erycina" la dea romana a somiglianza della greca Afrodite.
Difeso da bastioni e da una cinta muraria, il borgo è un labirinto di stradine acciottolate molto suggestivo. Da vedere in particolare le rovine del Castello di Venere, eretto nel XII sec. dai Normanni su quello originario romano, le Torri del Balio, il Castello Pepoli e la Chiesa Matrice del XIII sec. fiancheggiata da una elegante torre campanaria.
Erice is an ancient village located on the western of Sicily island.
With its 751 meters of height it is a spectacular viewpoint over the Mediterranean Sea.
From the fortress you can see the coast from Marsala to Capo San Vito, just below it dominates the city of Trapani and the Egadi islands, while on clear days you can see the African coasts.
Inhabited in ancient times by Greeks and Romans it was, for the latter, a sacred place of VENUS, the Roman goddess similar to the Greek Aphrodite.
Defended by ramparts and a wall, the village is a very suggestive labyrinth of cobbled streets. Worth seeing are the ruins of the Venus hill, the Balio Towers, the Pepoli castle and the 13th century Mother Church. with an elegant bell tower.

From the description, I guess Erice stands on the last fringes of the country overlooking the breathtaking Mediterranean sea, from the vantage point. I feel a strong connect to these ancient/ medieval places which you often showcase. That keeps me coming back for more, because I'm sure you'll always have something new and splendid to offer. I'm fascinated by the landscapes, unique architectures, the cobbled streets, shops selling traditional food items and the art and artifacts (beautiful pottery). And also by the history of these places.
Your videos consistently reflect your love for travel, penchant for capturing beauty through the lenses and your creative ingenuity. Sicily is the second of the two large Italian islands but, being in the center of the Mediterranean sea, it has a richest history due to the different peoples who inhabited there over the centuries...... Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans and each of them left its culture and architecture ..... if we add also the amazing coasts of this island then it's easy to understand the great charm that attracts many tourists italian and foreign😊 I made some holidays in Sicily but unfortunately I have few footages, only photographs😖
