Learn how to sing the happy birthday song in Swedish!
The Swedish birthday song lyrics are very different from the regular happy birthday song.
And even the melody is different! Which can be very confusing.
So if you want to be able to sing along to the Swedish birthday party song, this is the video for you.
Plus, the Swedish birthday song lyrics have a dark turn in the end. Which we will explore.
So watch this video if you want to learn Swedish and about learn Swedish culture at the same time!
Sang this to my Dad and he said it's slightly aggressive in its positivity 😂
That is a great way of putting it! 😂
In Dutch, the happy birthday song has exactly the same melody. Here, it goes 'lang zal je leven, lang zal je leven...'
(you will live long, you will live long)
So cool! I love it! I'm from Mexico and we sing the "Mañanitas" on birthdays, the lyrics are quite peculiar... not aggressive... just kinda weird (specially noticing that we tend to celebrate birthdays on evenings) and surprisingly long... and filled with biblical references. 🤭
It's says:
"These are the "little mornings" (mañanitas) that the king David used to sing to the pretty kids, and we sing them to you.
Wake up, (insert name of the person here) wake up, look, it's already dawn, the birds are already singing, the moon is already set. (It generally ends here, but there's also a long version, that kinda gives a little more sense to the lyrics).
How cute is the morning I'm coming to say hi, all we come with pleasure and joy to congratulate you. The day you were born, all the flowers were born too, and in the baptismal font, the mockingbirds sang.
I'd like to be a ray (of light) to get through your window, and say good morning to you, while lying on the bed, I'd like to be a Saint Jhon, I'd like to be a Saint Peter, to come to say hi, with the music of the heavens.
It's dawning, the light of the day is already on us, wake up in the morning, look it's already dawn. With jasmine and flowers today I come to say hi to you, today because it's the day of your Saint, we come to sing to you."
🤣🤣🤣 I've always been intrigued by those lyrics, but translating them to english make them seem even more crazy in my perspective. LOL
I'm starting to learn Swedish (Jag älskar Svenska 😁) and loved how you explain it, you have a new subscriber.
Oh!
I know I’m gonna love this !! Here to living 100 years 😊
🥳
@@FunSwedish Hej
I love love the Swedish birthday song!
Thank you for the fun video, it's a very pleasant way to learn. In Brazilian song we say: "Parabéns para você, muitos anos de vida" (Happy birthday to you, many years of life...) very fun the swedish song, it's like my swedish boyfriend with his jokes sometimes I think he is serious then it comes the joke 😄
haha, exactly. A taste of Swedish humour.
Happy to hear you enjoyed the video 😁
Trying to learn this for my boyfriend's birthday , wish me luck !
Let us know who it went! 😁

That is a great way of putting it 😂.
Happy to hear the videos are helping 😁
This has a melody very similar to the dutch birthday song, lang zal ze leven (long shall she live)
Interesting!

The fourth hurra is for the king

Tack snälla!!! 😍😍😍
😍😍😍
Had to learn this song on the guitar so I can play every year 😅
In skåne you only say "Hurra" three times becous the last one is to celebret the king, but traditionlly we don't like the swedish king
Interesting! Didnt know that!
Walt why don’t you?
Indonesian has very similar melody to this and its also a happy birthday song
Interesting!
Wow the melody of "Ja, må han leva" sounds like Dutch and Indonesian birthday song
So interesting! You are not the first one to say that. I am sure we must have stolen it from that Dutch and Indonsesian brithday song
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Omg good to know! I always feel akward when people start to sing drycklåter (they're amazing but I don't know the lyrics😅), but I haven't come across the birthday song!
Happy to help!
I kinda love this song :D
It is a pretty cute one, eller hur? 😊
Haha! Fun and shocking song!
😁😁
Great topic for January, the month of my birthday! 😊😁
Yay! Now you can celebrate in Swedish 😁
Almost same tune with Indonesian Birthday Song: Panjang Umurnya (the meaning is also slightly similar: long may he/she live).
That is really interesting! Maybe the Swedish song is inspired by your song 😉
The archipelogo that is now the Republic of Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch for 300 hundreds years, the traditon of celebrating birthday is coming from the dutch including the singing of the happy birthday song which is called PANJANG UMUR NYA" in Indonesian language or LANG ZAL ZE LEVEN in Dutch, they are the exact same tun, just different text. I guess since the Netherlands located not far from the Scandinavian countries including Sweden, thus the same song tune of this happy birthday song was shared.
Excelente 😊
Same with Indonesian Happy Birthday song..
oh wow! Interesting!
I First heard it from Darin ( swedish singer ) , his song "ja må du leva idag"
Haha, underbart! Älskar er egna version av låten :)
This was posted right when it was my brother's birthday
Great timing! Grattis to him! :)
You are so cute!! I love ur videos!! ^^
Glad you like them!
Magnifique la rousse
Merci :)
I live in Sweden 🇸🇪
👏
Not sure when your Birthday is, so I'm (I am) wishing you a very "Happy Birthday" either early or belated late. Oh speaking of words that start with the letters "be...", maybe you can do a Video on Swedish Words that start with the "be...." letters like betala, berätta, etc.
Happy birthday to you too! (Whenever it is)
Good idea for a video
The very first couple of bars sounds like Dutch’s “Lang zal leven” and no I’m not Dutch, I’m English.
Interesting!
I learned this with the sound "ja mon" and I hear you sing "Ya mon." Is this a difference in regional dialect?
Well, the Swedish "J" generally sounds like the English "Y" 😊.
We dont really have the English "J" sound
@@FunSwedish That's what I understood. So strange to have found the pronunciation both ways on different Seedish channels.
Thank you for clearing that up!
I'm getting my mom to sing that for me on my next birthday. It's way more meaningful than the normal happy birthday song by literally a thousand times over👀
We're skipping the violent bits though😶 I'd rather live longer than a hundred years
p.s what's the point of hanging someone after shooting them though?😭
Haha, "what's the point of hanging someone after shooting them though" good point! The song has no real logic haha. Better to skip that part and just sing the nice version ;)
@@FunSwedish The nice version it is😶 I'm not going to let anyone sing about how they're gonna kill me on my b'day👍
Today I learned
I'm American and the first time I heard this song was from a Swedish UA-cam family the tune or melody sounds super familiar like a children's song nursery rhyme and the life of me I can't figure it out can I please get help
Happy birthday in swedish
Grattis på födelsedagen!
Now I have to learn the second half of the song!!
Great song 😂 what do you sing if person is turning 101? 😂😂
🎉
God kväll an congratelation my Friend?
Tack!
@@FunSwedish you are welcome my Friend?
Wanna be my future love?
Decision
Hej,
what happens when you turn 101
Well... according to the song you wont make it to 101. You get to 100 and that is it 😂
and it has to be singed in the morning with the frukost in the bed
That would be a great way to start a birthday! 👏
Must be awkward when you become 100.
Very 😂
Sometimes we alter the song to sing 200 years "tvåhundra år" on a celebration for a 100 year old person.
@@AifosViruset hopefully one day that will become awkward too. Hopefully for me...
