In Dutch, the happy birthday song has exactly the same melody. Here, it goes 'lang zal je leven, lang zal je leven...'
(you will live long, you will live long)

So cool! I love it! I'm from Mexico and we sing the "Mañanitas" on birthdays, the lyrics are quite peculiar... not aggressive... just kinda weird (specially noticing that we tend to celebrate birthdays on evenings) and surprisingly long... and filled with biblical references. 🤭
    It's says:
"These are the "little mornings" (mañanitas) that the king David used to sing to the pretty kids, and we sing them to you.
Wake up, (insert name of the person here) wake up, look, it's already dawn, the birds are already singing, the moon is already set. (It generally ends here, but there's also a long version, that kinda gives a little more sense to the lyrics).
How cute is the morning I'm coming to say hi, all we come with pleasure and joy to congratulate you. The day you were born, all the flowers were born too, and in the baptismal font, the mockingbirds sang.
I'd like to be a ray (of light) to get through your window, and say good morning to you, while lying on the bed, I'd like to be a Saint Jhon, I'd like to be a Saint Peter, to come to say hi, with the music of the heavens.
It's dawning, the light of the day is already on us, wake up in the morning, look it's already dawn. With jasmine and flowers today I come to say hi to you, today because it's the day of your Saint, we come to sing to you."
🤣🤣🤣 I've always been intrigued by those lyrics, but translating them to english make them seem even more crazy in my perspective. LOL
I'm starting to learn Swedish (Jag älskar Svenska 😁) and loved how you explain it, you have a new subscriber.

The archipelogo that is now the Republic of Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch for 300 hundreds years, the traditon of celebrating birthday is coming from the dutch including the singing of the happy birthday song which is called PANJANG UMUR NYA" in Indonesian language or LANG ZAL ZE LEVEN in Dutch, they are the exact same tun, just different text. I guess since the Netherlands located not far from the Scandinavian countries including Sweden, thus the same song tune of this happy birthday song was shared.

    Hej,
