1:42 Yes. This. Don't get me wrong. I love comics, but this drives me nuts. Let superheroes grow up and grow old. Let them die. Let the next generation of heroes replace them. Give us a freaking world, not just a series of isolated stories loosely weaved into a temporary continuity, destined to be reset when they need to make Peter Parker a teenager again. The only place we get to see these sorts of things is in What Ifs and parallel universes. F*****g let the world progress! You have a fictional universe that have enjoyed an unbroken line of readers for almost 100 years. Can you imagine how deep that world could go if you actually gave a s**t about maintaining a continuous continuity? I wonder what Martin, or most other authors, would give to see their world produce a century of living history, and the comic publishers are just pissing away that opportunity.
While this makes sense in theory why would the comic book makers kill off their cash cows. Do you really think it’d be a better industry if Superman, Batman, Iron Man, Spider Man etc....all died?
GRRM is not wrong about comic books. I was an avid collector and fan. However, all of the "reboots" and "simplifying stories" turned me off. I liked the Golden and Silver ages of comics. Everything since then just doesn't cut it for me.
The issue is comic books are so franchised nowadays & mostly owned by corporations as opposed to the sole creator That's why I like manga, the author tells a cohesive story

The Bible is an amazing manga. Chapters 1-5 were written by this guy named Moses but for some reason the author changed around. Abram is definitely my favorite character although for some reason they retconned his name to be Abraham, and in some regional publications his name is Ibrahim. The best ship is Abram x Sarah. Also, they totally nailed the new testament chapter, with some great character development. I never expected Judas' betrayal either.
I'm glad I quit reading the Game of Thrones books since there is no way he is going to finish the series. He's 72 years old (and overweight) and judging by his comments, he's considering expanding the series to more volumes since he has let various plot threads get away from him and has no way of tying them up adequately in what were supposed to be the final two books.
I for one cannot stand comic books. You ever actually read one? Nothing ever goes anywhere and all plot lines are so loosely connected I find it kind of a chore to try and care.
May I ask what type or titles of the comics you've read and disliked? Not that I am calling you out or saying you're wrong, just not all comics are as you described and some even tell stories better than published fantasy or books in general. If you want something that is connected and has good plotting with great characters and themes I suggest Sandman by Neil Gaiman, who is obviously a now well known and respected fantasy writer.
@@adamosborne685 Idk I as given a giant stack of them as a kid. It was a very random collection, but it had like Superman, Spiderman, Hellboy, but not like a real Hellboy comic, some like weird side universe christmas story kind of thing. I remember I thought the best ones were X-Men because they would have huge centerfold displays of people using their powers rather than just like stars and "WHACK". Ultimately I was very unimpressed with all of their stories.
@@FindTheFun well not all comics are simply a mess of plots and arcs just all thrown in. From what you have described, it seems that you read the comics and were dropped into plots, arcs or storylines after they had begun or been built up, so the comics, while not necessarily being great or even good, were confusing or splintered from this. Please do try Sandman by Neil Gaiman though, from what you've described it seems like that would be right up your alley, and it's not a particularly long or short series meaning it's perfectly tailored to be picked up and enjoyed from Issue 1 without a mass of convoluted storylines or reboots that mess with the stories and characters
Timothy Lee the only thing he said about season 8 was on his blog where he said “it was a wild ride” he never defended it and again it would be bad for his career to trashtalk about S8
I could listen to GRRM talking about anything for hours lol

I don’t like listening to authors go on and on, but strangely, you’re right. There’s just something about GRRM that’s so appealing.
I don't even read his books, and I agree. Well, maybe not for HOURS...
I bet George loves Daredevil. The violence, the moral complexity, the death and despair.
and the dilema of being blind

It’s good to see that for once

Yeah like the Starwars EU was doing that pretty well (before the TCW retcons and disney crap ruined everything)

George RR Martin is the greatest and he and Jim Shooter actually deserve an Ultimate respect. I m also sick and tired of Reboots.
Just look at the thumbnail and imagine the brace over his hands
cool that G RR Martin was or is a comic book fan!

Yay! GRRM is a Raimi fan!
Hahaha Spider-Man 3
That explains the new 52 by dc
By Gumbo I wish I have the issue of Fantastic Four #20!!!!!
What about Japanese Comics Martin? (If he hasn't heard of Berserk I'd be shocked.)
They have those in USA too:
Locke & Key
Y the Man
Invincible
Walking Dead
The Boys
just to name a few

Martin is a hack fraud that defends season 8
It would be very bad for his career if he were to bad mouth the show. Also, the show made him into the celebrity he is now. Why would he insult it?
