Just One Person from the musical Snoopy!!! as performed by Bernadette Peters and the Muppets from The Muppet Show and then The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson.
I've loved this song ever since i was a little girl, and i've always wanted to meet the master muppeteer behind it all. He passed away when i was just four. Its a shame, because had he survivved his illness hed only be 71 today. I missed the muppet show by about a decade but i still know every single one of those charachters and grew up with Sesame Street. God Bless you Jim, after 20 long years you're still sorely missed. Rest in peace.
Everytime I see Kermit walked through that door. I picture Jim walking in suprised and then happy with a smile on his face watchng his creations honor him.
I was to young at the time to realize jim henson and his work. But as far as I can remember I've been a muppet fan. And... I'm not ashamed to admit it, when the muppets read those letters before they sing this song I cried. I'm a 21 year old guy and I cried because of the muppets. This just shows how amazing this show actually was. Who else can make such an emotional moment with a puppet? Henson was the man and he played a HUGE role in my childhood...
It seems like Henson and the Muppeteers gravitated to songs about self-doubt. It's weird that hearing a little felt puppet say "I'm not good enough" is even more heartbreaking than hearing it from a human being. I wonder, how many creative people are holding themselves back right now with words just like that?
i had watched the muppets all through my child hood. i was born after he had died and had no idea. the creator of this wonderful show that made me happy through christmas, sitting with my family and unwrapping presents. i'll never forget the first time i watched his christmas show. RIP Jim Henson
I just made a comment on another thread and Jim Henson said this "I believe in taking a positive attitude towards the world, towards people, and towards my work. I think I’m here for a purpose. I think it’s likely that we all are, but I’m only sure about myself. I try to tune myself in to whatever it is that I’m suppose to be, and I try to think of myself as a part of all of us
Such iconic figures all starting in the mind of the genius Jim Henson. I cry when I see all the muppets coming together from sesame street and the Muppet show... They have all become such big parts of our life even into adulthood, I pretty there are many more of these moments to come.
all mankind and all life. I find it’s not easy to keep these lofty thoughts in mind as the day goes by, but it certainly helps me a great deal to start out this way. -Jim Henson
...I know in my heart I'm not the only one doing this fight and been touched by his work, so here he stills lives among so many of us and it is our responsability to do our part "take what we got and fly with it!" for the sake of creativity and entertainment! Thank you for posting this and thank you Jim for moving some of us...
i listen to this every monring at work to start off the day... there is a lot to be learned within the philosophies and art of jim henson.. RIP jim, ,richard and jerry
When I saw Kermit with the picture of Jim Henson in the shot, and Kermit is looking at everyone, I go teary because Kermit represented Jim watching them all.
Oh me*dries tears* That last one was soo beautiful, nearly sobbed here at the computer Jim henson, you were a genius,an icon to those of us who arent conventional and will be missed and loved forever
*trying not to cry* This song always makes me cry. I wasn't even alive when Jim died but I still grief the loss of him. He and his work has always been a highlight of my childhood. All of his characters have and always will be something for everyone to love. They, although through crud comedy at times, taught some good lessons. And it wasn't just the muppet show either. Everything that he ever did has touch so many people that he and his characters will never die.
what a great song, very inspiratonal, I wish TV was this good nowadays. Alot of people say things like this are corny, but that shows those people are just sad people.
If you watch the new movie, you'll see that even if they didn't have the rights to actually use it... the entire movie is based around it. There's at least four or five places they could have put it and had it not be out of place at all; it *is* the message of the new movie. Which tells me, more than anything, that yes, a little bit of Jim lives on in all of us.
I just want to point out this is the only youtube video i've seen with 0 dislikes... maybe it's corny for me to say but i find that really heartwarming
This is absolutely one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It may be a matter of opinion, but this song should have been on Disney's House Of Mouse as well. Then it could have had all your favorite characters like Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, Jiminy Cricket, etc. singing it. I also remember hearing it in Snoopy: The Musical.
my mom got the same illness that year as it was wide spread, she barely survived. the muppets arn't the same now they don't have the same campy charm that even fraggle rock still had. sad really sad.
Me too...but you know Jim wouldn't want us being sad he'd want us to celebrate his life. As long as there are fans like us who loved his work then his legacy will continue forever. Jim is up there right now probably making his own muppet shows and doing what he does best which is make people smile. :) Oh and if your intersted I also made a video tribute to Jim last year. It's in my channel.
Learn to accept. "It's Not Easy Bein' Green." Learn to give. "Just One Person." Never stop dreaming. "Rainbow Connection." Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street on the most sensational, celebrational, Muppetational Muppet Show down at Fraggle Rock!
Jim my mom is a big fan of you shes loves MissPiggy and Beaker The swishes chef I think Sam the eagle I think...... but all Im trying to say is that we miss you Jim we hope you have a good life in heaven R.I.P Jim snif will miss you will miss you Jim
Steve Whitmire took over kermit after Jim Henson. Jim personally chose Steve and trained him up. Steve also does the voice of ernie, bean bunny, sprocket, wembley, foo foo, beaker, statler, lips, rizzo the rat and many many more. He is one of my favorites :D
The skit with Bernadette Peters WAS before Jim Henson died, as the FIRST poster, rolos, said. It was from The Muppet Show, Season 2 Episode 12, one of my FAVORITE episodes. This video then SEGUES into the tribute they later filmed to Jim Henson-two different performances from two different decades. The Muppet Show part is from 1977 and the tribute was aired in November of 1990, six months after his death. No need to be rude, ashie.
I wasn't even born when Jim henson died I was born 2 years arther Jim died but do love this song and I want to be an acterss and a singer and maybe work the muppets someday.

My fav song. This song touches my heart, I don't care bout the haters or cyber-bullies. I believe in myself and a lot people believe in me.
RIP Jim Henson, you helped me believe in myself.

Jim henson, you were a genius,an icon to those of us who arent conventional

The musical Snoopy debuted in 1975 and this song was the closing number. The Muppet Show debuted in 1976.
Absolute genius with a message as true today as ever. Rest in peace, Jim Henson.
Rip Jerry Nelson 1934-2012 performer of Robin the Frog. He and Jim Henson are gone but not forgotten.
What a beautiful song.
can't listen to this song without cryin, it just reminds me so much of jim :') 20 years on and the world is still greaving his death.
It was first performed in Snoopy! back in the mid-70's. The song's writer worked on The Muppet Show later and pulled it out of the trunk to use there.

@Bearishcub78 This song was Jim's favorite song. It makes so much sense when you see the Muppets why Jim loved it so much.
I personally think this song is more fitting for the Muppets than the Peanuts, because most of their songs have meaningful messages.
my mom got the same illness that year as it was wide spread, she barely survived. the muppets arn't the same now they don't have the same campy charm that even fraggle rock still had. sad really sad.

If I remember correctly, the first clip with Bernadette Peters is where it was first performed.
Hey thanks for clearing that up. :)
@cyber4156 no robin is Kermit's nephew
@nellie2581 I'm glad you said that....... makes me feel better also.... :-) JIM 4VA
Whether Kermit has a sister who is Robin's mother, or the latter has a brother who is Robin's father, I'll never know.
Muito bom! Very good!
I assume Gonzo is the longest-performed and only Muppet (both of which) to be performed by only one performer.
if Ron said it, then it's OK. :)
Both times in the video when Kermit appeared, I started weeping! Also, another moment when you realize "Oh my God! EVEN STATLER AND WALDORF ARE SINGING!!!!" :,(
RIP Jerry Nelson, you taught us to count.
*blinking* Actually, I deleted that statment lol I've no idea why it's still up there, but I do remember it was Steve after the fact. Weirdness
well he died a month after I was born so my entire life has been without him
@TofuPuppets I'm inspired, not depressed.
"Fly with it"?
What is that supposed to mean? "Take what you got and fly with it."
Oh god, when everyone came in off the sides I lost it... Just Lost it.
If only it were that simple.
First Jim Henson, then Richard Hunt, now Jerry Nelson.
Who sang this first...the muppets or Snoopy and the gang?
@KBAFourthtime yes you did
no it was steve
KERMIT HAS A SON?????!!!!!!!!
Jeffrey Poling no robin is kermit's niece
Lianna Rivera Nephew!
was this skit with Bernadette Peters before or after Jim Henson died?
years before

@ksystem32 Sim, isto é lindo. (Não sou português ou brasileiro; sou americano.)
Yes, this is beautiful. (I'm not Portuguese or Brazilian; I'm American.)
@ljks1 I adore Steve Whitmire. He's so diverse. I mean just listen to Rizzo the rat and then his version of Kermit the frog. So completely different.
Did I see Mokey Fraggle in the latter part?
@Stephen Treadwell Whoever they are they must not have been listening or watching
according to Ron Swanson (character from Parks and Recreation) crying is acceptable at funerals and the grand canyon...and this
is there a way that i could find that tribute to Mr. Henson (RIP)?
whoa, who did the voice for kermit at the end?
I believe it was entirely missed..
@PercabethFan49 For crying out loud, it has nothing to do with sex.
@PercabethFan49 Wow. You really missed the point of this song.
If you look up "threesome" in a dictionary it says "a group consisting of three people"
@PercabethFan49
That's Christian dis-information for you, sigh!
Miss the point of the song much?
