A very good summary by Peter Chang. What he says about the imprint of the usa is spot on. All those ideals that the usa championed for is now exposed as a lie. China is the eye opening truth for the people of the ASEAN nations (except the Philippines of course)…

I have noticed that China is using it's economic and trade relations with the global south to counter US soft power. It's an interesting approach. However the diminishing us soft power is largely due to it's activities in the middle east and Europe. The steps US is taking suggests that US will disrupt trade relations between China and Europe as much as possible and return to trading with China in a way that benefits US most. That way US can remain on top of both Europe and China.
As if Europe doesn't take issue with China supporting a war on their continent ... you clearly have no clue what you're babbling about.

The story of Lord of the Rings is a metaphor for the US. The wearer of the ring (Hegemon) carries great responsibility and not many can handle it. Clearly the US has failed to live up to its responsibility as the hegemon and turned into the despot. It is not uncommon for power to do that. I am not sure how the US can redeem itself as it has so much blood on its hand. Perhaps we will let life's pendulum deal with it as it always does, empires rise and surely they also fall.
But sadly this time round, this said empire has nukes capable of bringing down everyone else once it senses its demise.

American soft power is commonly and historically referred to as offering a carrot with a big stick. In diplomatic circles American soft power is an American suggestion backed up by aircraft carrier diplomacy.
