Really nice. Fabulous to see Olympus from such a different POV since you last saw it, and, of course, what beautiful shots. Plus I simply find it pleasant to watch you wander through a landscape observing everything from a shooting standpoint. BTW, I realize that many of your viewers are photographers, including seasoned photographers, but I wouldn't mind occasionally hearing more about how you select and make your shots. For example, I was wondering why, exactly, the light was so bad for that really crazy tree you found on the way up (I'm a rank amateur or worse lol). Or maybe a bit more info about what constitutes a shot worth taking. Thanks so much for these cool videos.
Thanks Cindy! Definitely good questions. If I'm being honest, I've been doing this long enough that most decisions re: subject selection, composition, etc. happen mostly subconsciously, so I often forget to talk through why I do what I do. I'll try to think out loud a bit more in some of the future videos though! In that case, the patches of direct sunlight would have been really difficult to work around, since they would have shown up as really bright spots, likely distracting from what I wanted the photo to be about. Not impossible, necessarily, but not an easy situation. And I find that when I'm backpacking or doing difficult hikes, a lot of my mental energy is zapped through the hike itself, so I don't have as much cognitive and creative capacity to really work through a scene like that. Something I'm working on though :)
@@BrianLackeyThanks so much for your reply, Brian. I can totally appreciate the difficulties of managing everything you do on a hike and shoot! Please don't worry about thinking out loud; it's one of my favorite elements of your videos and even, I would say, what they are all about. They put us inside your process, and I learn so much from that. Even when you grow kind of pooped at times is interesting lol. All of that plus the gorgeous places you walk through--and of course the final products--are just fantastic. I always tell my writing students that doing art helps you see where you are, or offers ways of seeing it that you might never have discovered.
Beautiful
This is fantastic Brian! Thank you for taking us along. I want to go backpacking! It’s been too long. 😊
Well thanks for watching :) Definitely good to get back out to the mountains!

That view were you had your tent at the lake looked so good. Autumn for me are the best season for sure, how about you?
