    Looking to get a 2013-2016 Fusion Titanium as a daily. Mainly will be a commuter and road trip car. I used to rent these back when I worked at Avis / Budget and i was obsessed with them. Watching this review lets me know im making the right choice. Currently driving a 17 Focus ST.

    Nice review. I have a 2015 Fusion SE Hybrid. My experience with fuel economy overall has been EXCELLENT! I've been driving since May 30th and so it's been about 8 months. This is what I discovered driving here in the New England region. Between May and October, warmer months, my average mileage was 50+ mpg. I have noticed diminishing mpg in cold weather, which is not uncommon. Even still, in single digit temperatures I'm averaging mid to high 30's mpg. My driving is mostly highway, which in the hybrid is less efficient (44 city - 41 highway). Since I drive about 60 miles per day this has been a huge savings in fuel compared to the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, 6 cyl, 4.0 I was driving. Love this car and all of the base features that came with it. As far as my complaints, I have three. I'm a big man and the seats are pretty narrow, even for an average person. Secondly, the trunk space is small because it's a hybrid. In fairness, I opted for the hybrid and that's the package deal so it was my choice to trade off, but be advised. Lastly, I have no spare tire! That is a real issue. The salesman never mentioned this fact and I didn't think to ask when I bought it. Luckily I haven't yet had a flat, but I wouldn't want to realize this when I'm on the side of the road scratching my head! I'd be willing to give up some of that great mileage and limited trunk space for a spare tire. I believe the Energi model also is lacking a spare.

      +Michael Colvin Thank you! Yes the hybrids get excellent mileage! Pretty normal for it to go down when it is cold outside as the the vehicle will use the gas engine more then the battery.

    Best review on any car I have seen. Debating between Fusion, Optima, (& of course Camry and Accord) It would be my first car purchase as an adult & i want whatever I get to last. I am 6ft1in and my lady is 5ft1in so your comment about height was indeed helpful!Thanks for the vid.

    I own the 2014 Fusion titanium AWD version. There are a couple things you may want to change or look out for. The steering may develop a loud knock turning the wheel all the way to the left or right (something that was told to me at the dealer is that the part cost about 1200 dollars (shady ass dealership); even though the car is under a 7 year 75,000 mile warranty). I was slotted to get that fixed at one of the dealerships in Opelika, Alabama. They weren't fixing my car with new parts they were just placing a band-aid on it and stated they placed new parts on the car. Ford HQ also informed me that the dealerships are independent in which they do not keep up with what orders and parts that are replaced on each car at their HQ. You would think they would want to know that information instead of just trusting the dealer to give them the information. That way they would have an idea of which parts are failing more than others. That is a different story altogether.
    The next thing is the sound systems rear deck speakers aren't well designed. They have a thin bezel surrounding them so they will pop and/or bust even with the bass and mid range bass down. I was getting that replaced and the mechanics also stated that is the main speakers out of the Sony systems that they have to replace. Go aftermarket and the Ohm for those speakers are rated at 2.3 Ohms. You can use 4 Ohms speakers they just have more resistance and may not be as loud. You also may notice a knock behind the firewall (may just be my car) and it can be heard with no electronics on and seem to only happen when the car is in drive with the ebreak on and at full stop at traffic light. It may have been the dealer I went to here in Alabama. I never notice the noise until going to that dealer.
    I usually do my own maintenance on my car since I had a lift at on the base I stayed at but I currently have no car lifts that I could rent to do the preventative maintenance on the car. Ford states that preventative maintenance can be done by owner and oil change you just have to keep the receipts if you do not want to deal with stupidity at their HQ of warranty going void. That is only if a parts that are not OEM are the cause for failures within the car. They have to prove the aftermarket part is at fault. Since I have a 7 year warranty I will use the OEM parts with my personal certified Ford mechanic. Lately I have been in search and have found some home use lifts so I can check to see what the fuck that sound is coming from behind the firewall. Other than that the car is awesome. I have 22,190 miles from brand new (0 miles) fully loaded except for the sunroof. Also use Fully synthetic oil in the car. At the dealer they will charge more for that oil but you can just buy the oil yourself. Also since I was in the military oversea I got a huge discount on the car that is one of the reasons that I chose this car over a German made car (German cars have too much plastic within their engines and your slaved to always go to their dealers within the US). Also the fact that there should be more after market parts for the Ford than any other car manufacture within the price range of the Fusion. So that mean sometimes cheaper and better made part than the OEM parts.
    I may post videos of upcoming maintenance that I will do with my car (normal shit) if I have the time. Also a few major things, getting it on a dyno is first just to see if it is running rich or lean and delivering the power it is rated for after 20,000 plus miles. I just have to drive to Atlanta since their aren't many AWD dyno systems within my area.

    There's been some debate on this, but my dad has been a mechanic for 40 years, and I don't dispute his advice. I purchased a K&N for my EcoBoost, and as soon as I told him about it, he told me to remove it. The turbo charged engines really pull on the oil on those filters and will create a coating on the Mass Airflow Sensor. This can cause a negative impact on your fuel economy. The best factory air filter replacement is the Wix high airflow paper filter. Hope that helps!

      Dan Wyke Thank you for the advice !

    • @dragonknight47
      @dragonknight47 9 років тому

      Auto Vlog I wanted to follow up after a little research and consultation. The 2.0L EcoBoost actually uses MAP sensors, not MAF sensors. These sensors measure actual air pressure, instead of air flow across a charged wire, like the MAF. That being said, oiled filters should be safe to use with an EcoBoost, as long as they are not over-oiled when serviced.

    • @Phantom096
      @Phantom096 9 років тому +1

      +Dan Wyke Over oiled and not let dry filters are Terrible on any engine. Its always a good idea to have two filters so when u clean one and let dry u are covered.
      My friend has this same car and recently got the Steeda cold air intake which has had some excellent reviews. It adds another additional 20 hp but the best part is the MPG increases to 28 - 32.
      A must for the EcoBoost engines seems to be the catch can /oil separator. Very important if u plan on keeping the car past 40k miles.

      +Phantom096 Thanks for the tips! I plan on doing some upgrades to my Fusion in the coming year, one of those being an upgraded intercooler and cold air intake. I will definitely invest in the oil catch as well.

    Great review. Really nice to see/hear from an actual owners pov. I have nearly the identical 2013 model (or as close as possible for 2013). 2.0L FWD, however about the same gas mileage, really disappointed on that part. Everything else is fantastic on the fusion. I'm actually considering upgrading the "FUSION" door sill plates to the illuminated ones for that extra night time edge lol. Although I wish I had seen your review before I purchased it 2 weeks ago, I'd have bought it anyway. Keep up the good work!

    I just bought a 2015 fully loaded Titanium AWD in Magnetic over black at the beginning of June. Love the look of the car. Mine has all the options possible I think. Got a great deal on it between the X-Plan, rebates and 0% financing. So far I'm happy with it, but I have a few complaints in the first 800 miles: 1. The MyTouch interface requires a very heavy touch to work it. Not very sensitive at all. 2. My gas mileage has been abysmal averaging about 18 MPG babying it around town, but many reports online say they take awhile to really break in and do get better, but you'll never get what the sticker says. 3. The large trunk has a small oddly shaped opening that makes getting boxes and suitcases into it a challenge. 4. The touch to lock/unlock handles have stopped working twice so far and this is a common problem if you google it. Mine have reset by driving it around the block. Weird problem that Ford can't fix yet. 5. The electronic steering and brakes tend to never feel the same if you are an intune driver. The brakes are very soft at times and then feel pre-charged at others when they shouldn't be. You can never get a feel for peddle consistency. The steering with the lane assist activated feels completely disconnected from the wheels. You have to constantly correct to stay straight in the lane. Almost like you are fighting the lane assist all the time. With it deactivated, it still feels like it has no feedback, but not completely disconnected. The highlights include amazing seats that are super comfortable and the cooling is great. Wish it cooled the back portion too though. When needed, the car scoots and the power level is quite adequate for the car. On the road it drives very nice with just enough stiffness in the shocks to not feel wallowy, but yet not to harsh over pavement breaks even with the factory 19's. Very roomy inside and extremely quiet over the road as well. The Sony sound system is very good for a factory unit. I'm just hoping the MPG really picks up a lot over the next 1000 miles or so.

      Joel Hinkle Congratulations on your purchase! I have actually started to get really good HIGHWAY mpg.. at 32mpg at times.. so I'm happy about that, will do a update video on that in the near future.. When it comes to the touch to lock feature I haven't had any issue with it at all.. I love it :) Regarding the Lane Keeping feature, I opted out of that when I was getting mine, I just find it annoying lol.

    • @Therealjmhinkle
      @Therealjmhinkle 9 років тому

      Mikes Auto Reviews Don't worry, you'll get to experience failure of the touch handles. It's quite common and extremely random. Like I said though, the cure seems to be driving it around the block from most peoples experience. I love them too, but when they are all of a sudden non responsive, it's a huge pain. I haven't had a chance to drive mine on any highway trips to see what it will get for MPG. Been stuck just going back and forth to work in it. Worst case scenario, but I was expecting to at least get the 21 rating from it. As it stands currently, my girlfriends Charger R/T with the hemi is getting far better MPG than I do and I honestly wish I would have considered the 2014 R/T AWD I found still brand new on a lot.

    I have a 2015 SE with the 2.0L Echoboost FWD. I have the light leather. The problem with the light leather is, if you wear jeans, they will stain the leather. The blue stains are very difficult to get out. You need to clean them every other week.
    I had a 2013 with the 1.6L Echoboost. The 2.0L is way better. It is quieter and if you put it in sport mode, it is real fun to drive. The gas mileage does suffer when I moved to the 2.0L. I was getting 37MPG HWY between Raleigh and Philly with the 1.6L. With 2.0L, I get 32MPG on the same trip. The 2.0L is way more quieter. I currently have over 18K miles on my 2015 and have not had any problems. The 2013 was not as reliable. I should know better than buy a first year of a new model.

I recently got a 15 Fusion Titanium. I totally agree on the gas mileage. I only have 1800 miles so far. Do you think the fuel consumption will get any better? I traded a 14 Explorer and it gets much better mileage!! Other than that, the car is beautiful.

    Nice review. I hated the turn signals when I had this car, they never blinked through the actual turn! I also always had my phone connected through the bluetooth stereo to listen to my music but because the skip button and phone end button are one in the same, I would constantly ignore calls on accident because they came in at the same time I was skipping a track, that was super irritating too!

      Rene1935 - Yeah I love it, but sports car it is not. When you drive a real sports car it doesn't compare. I'm just immersed in daddyland and have been driving large vehicles for quite a while. I had a 89 5.0 when I was younger and it wasn't any faster than my Fusion, except for the punch at takeoff. If you take a ride in say one of those new Lexus is350 or and even better BMW 335, you'll feel what a sports sedan really feels like, those are scary fast.

    • @Rene1935
      @Rene1935 9 років тому

      +Nate TheDaddy Of course, there are "sporty" cars and "SPORTS" cars. My neighbor has an Audi R8 (mid-engine) coupe, and THAT is a "SPORTS" car!
      However, among the sport sedan class, which covers really practical vehicles that you can travel in, even with rear seat passengers, and even provides a nice 16 cubic foot trunk, the late model Fusions hold their own against much more expensive cars. Take it out on some mountain roads, and it will not frighten you like a lot of cars will. It sticks to the road while being pushed, and still remains quiet and comfortable.

    • @TheDaddynate

      Rene1935 - Sweet, I will soon get that chance. I'm moving from Detroit to Atlanta, and will be doing the back and forth thing quite a bit next winter/spring, because my family is remaining in Michigan until school lets out. So, I'll get to see how it performs on the road coming up.

    I have the same car just in the tectonic color. I agree with everything you said. Were your comments at 8:45 because of my comments in the past lol. Don't you think it's disappointing that this is the one the slowest cars that ford makes outside of the commercial segment even though it's the sportiest looking and in one of the sportiest segments. I mean the horsepower to weight ratio is a problem compared to like the optima sx turbo. It has 34 more horsepower and weighs less I've driven it and it's a solid amount quicker than the fusion. This car should have had a sport model a long time ago. In my opinion this car is perfect, power train aside. Gas mileage is pretty poor for me as well I drive sportier and get like 19 miles per gallon. Gas mileage will not change. My friend has a 13 fusion with 30000+ miles and his gas mileage is around 20 as well. Another comment of mine as well is that since it doesn't have that much power I find that passengers slow down the car more noticeably than in other cars that I've driven. Ford should have had an engine like the 2.3 ecoboost to handle the extra heft of the awd and added drive train loss to the titanium at 3750 pounds...

    • @AutoVlogOfficial
      @AutoVlogOfficial  9 років тому +1

      ElpresadorsBrother Correct man, I have been thinking about why the Fusion does not have a sport model at the moment.. AND, my friend and I were just talking about the 2,3L Ecoboost thats in the Mustang would be perfect to put in the Fusion! You know what people are trying to create an impression that i made a big mistake of buying '2015 ford awd titanium' over honda,toyato and nissan. Honestly none of the other brands offers ALL the features I want compared to my fusion in great PRICE. Iam not hating other brands , but truly for fusion is the BEST family sport sedan you can get. Also my dealer gave abig rebates which means i saved many grands too. Cheers to whoever is owning fusion. And for others try riding once before you comment.

Toyota is okay, Honda is okay.. this car let's be vibe to your own beat it stands out and holds its own # GO FORD

This isn't the 70's and 80's anymore people. This is a great car. Before you actually comment on the car why don't you actually drive it first.

      +Ron Smith yes, I just got a 2016 as well and quality has really gone up on Ford vehicles. And I actually liked the fusion over the accord and I know Hondas are great but as you said we're not on the 80s or 90s, I'm pretty sure that after ford almost went bankrupt they really step their game and started building more practical and reliable cars.

      +THE ASSASSIN - They almost got me to pay that extra 1500 bucks for the mytouch, glad i didn't. I kind of like the responsiveness of the old school buttons. Building a system for it now, with a signal processor and a 6 channel amp, also using the 6x9 holes in back for more lows and surround sound. Should put the titaniums sony system to shame at 1/4 the money.

Should be done by late October, I'll post pics and may do a video (never have done before). I think it'll be helpful, as in my research I only come across Taurus owners who have done similar to this.

    I have the fully loaded Titanium and love how it drives, however the gas mileage is not good. I. took a 200 mile all freeway drive and only got 26.4 mpg.. Also the navigation system is a headache, compared to my 2008 Toyota Camry. Its rumored that Ford gave up on the present My Ford Touch system and comes out with the much user friendly "Sync3". Still this is a beautiful looking and driving car, a lot of pep for the turbo 4.. The active park is a hoot and lane keeping monitor is very helpful.

    • @AutoVlogOfficial
      @AutoVlogOfficial  9 років тому +1

      Michael Barron I hear ya about the gas mileage. Although I was actually able to get to 31 mpg on the highway the other day on a highway trip so maybe its on the good side now:) Yes Ford is coming out with the Sync 3 system this year, it will be nice to see how that system compares to the My Ford Touch as I have not had any problem with the Navigation system only the legginess in the actual touching of the screen.

    Really nice review. I made a decision to wait for my next vehicle to be the Focus RS however the Fusion has been growing on me as I have had several of them for rentals now. My main concern has been the lack of a true sport model for the 15/16 years. I appreciate as well you showing the difference between the instrument panels of the 15/16. I too prefer physical buttons rather than that tpuch style panel garbage. To me the touch controls make autos look like cheap toys. Another example is on the CUE system in the ATS and CTS. I have not had the opportunity to try the manual when it was offered unfortunately. I have been researching and it sppears there are some tuning options available out there that can add upwards of 35hp/65tq to the wheels and still be in the warranty. The fuel economy seems to also be a sore spot for the ecoboost line in general.

      @AutoVlogOfficial  9 років тому

      AR TAUER Thank you for your comment :) Yes, I am waiting/expecting a Fusion Sport model to be arriving for the 2017 model year. It would be a very nice and awaited upgrade for the Ford Fusion, I do not see a reason for Ford to not put the 2.3L Ecoboost engine with 310HP that they currently have in the Mustang!

    If you're leasing it makes no difference, but if you buy, I'd recommend turning the auto seat thing off. I had it in my old Navigator and it wears the motor out, from too much use. I went the last 8 months with the Navigator seat not being able to go back and forth. Only time my seat needs to move is when someone beside my wife and i drive (I'd know if had been messed with), and she's about the same height I am and uses my same setting except she likes more straight seating posture while I lean back some.

      Playa Gang - Just saying it wears the motor from the seat down moving back and forth every time you turn the car on or off. May not hurt the guy who bought it new and sells after 3-4 years, but if you get a used one or plan on keeping your new one for 10 years, it's something to think about.

    Love The color of your car.. My 2015 Fusion Titanium is Vapor silver. I had to have AWD i won't buy a car without it. Once i had the motor in my car broken in I was able to get about 17 in city with a lot of hills and about 26 so far on the highway. I'm very happy with it. My old 08 Milan AWD would get about 10 MPG on my 6 mile commute.
    Did you take out the air intake snorkel? I noticed a bit of improvement in growl and pick up.
    My car did have an issue with MFT but once i got a new heavy duty battery from Ford I haven't had any sync maintenance messages since.
    Great Choice on a car, Its so nice to never have wheel spin, I've never had a car that's smoother.
    I do wish the left screen had the AWD HUD like other Fords do.
    Either way great review, I can't think of anything you could of missed.

Anyhow, Im sure it looks awesome :) I have actually been able to get 31mpg on the highway now so I'm very happy with that! and its actually going 70mph... Might need to do a update video on that ;)
      I have not taken off the intake snorkel.. but might need to if it makes it sound a little better!
      I to wish they had they had the AWD HUD.. that would be cool.

    Hey Mike, I'm coming across a 2016 Ford Fusion SE with the 1.6L ecoboost, I know those engines have coolant issues in the past but has it been remedied for the 2016? My family has always been Toyota so switching to Ford is kind of making me nervous.

    What about the 2015 passat (b8)? How do you think that stacks up against the fusion?

      Cosmin V I love VW and German cars in general, I used to drive a 2012 Jetta, it was a great car! The Passat is really nice..

    So, I've been looking to buy a Ford Fusion Titanium. I've found a 2016 Ford Fusion Titanium, the only problem is it has 29,000 mileage already, but the price is very reasonable. Do you think it's worth buying with the 29,000 already on it or should I wait till I find one with less mileage.

    I'm about to order a 2016 Fusion Titanium myself in the next day or so, but I am torn between the AWD or FWD. I currently live in CA and I can't really see a need for it. Even the dealer said it isn't really worth it unless you live in a place where the weather is terrible during winter etc. Any input?

    • @AutoVlogOfficial
      @AutoVlogOfficial  9 років тому

      SpraykwoNTheChef I have it because I live in Pittsburgh, don't know if would have gotten AWD if I was in Cali. However, I do love how the AWD system grips even in the rain, you never have to worry about wheel spin, always quick off the grid ;)

    • @SpraykwoNTheChef
      @SpraykwoNTheChef 9 років тому

      Yea I'm still debating it. I also asked the dealer what they thought and they said it isn't worth it unless you are going to use it regularly. Plus that $2K I could save is enticing. Very tough decision to make lol

      SpraykwoNTheChef do you get a lot of rain where you live if so awd will come in handy in the rain you do get better handling in wet weather in awd verus fwd

      SpraykwoNTheChef Get the AWD. Why do people buy a WRX or a GT-R. The AWD will give u better performance and handling.

    Hi, I got a simple question and it is about speed bumps: When you are 2-3 mph and pass over them is it normal rear wheels shock feels hard? Front wheels feel soft.

    But I do not like touch screen as you said, sensitivity is bad and you can see finger marks on it which looks ugly when you shut off the car.
    Do you know what to do this? any screen protection or polish or anything that I can do?

    have 2016 with touch screen. new small dislike. driving hills at night the headlight beam has limited height. when cresting a short hill the beam cut off creates a dark(BLIND) driving situation until getting to the bottom of the short hill. any others have similar situation?

    Chevy Malibu is in its class. Fusion is Better in some areas, not so much in others and Car Rental Co.'s saturate the market with Fusions.. thus why they depreciate by 33% after 1 yr, right mike? and over 50% 2nd yr

    The same staining happened to the white section of my leather seats in my 2011 mustang, and I've yet to find a way to get the white part white again. Did you find a way? I priced out re-skinning the seat, but it was crazy expensive.
