- University of Queensland Professor John Quiggin says the RBA is the “odd player out” compared to other central banks around the world when it comes to cutting interest rates.
The US Federal Reserve cut interest rates by 50 basis points this week.
It signalled that more cuts are likely at its final two meetings of the year.
Dragging it out till next election. As we know a rate cut is an indicator of recession...Absolutely political.
Political? State and federal spending remain at high levels, 1M immigrants didn’t just disappear, jobs continue to be created…..there’s a reason why interest rates will remain or even go higher until a global recession accelerates.
It's wall street 2.0 x international because your lot got away with it!!?
That’s because inflation in just about every other western nation is falling faster than Australia’s.
Also because the economy is dead and Australia's is dying.
1M immigrants, airport construction and train network construction projects don’t just disappear, inflationary pressure will remain. You want inflation at 4%, you lost my respect and interest at this point.
My local takeaway joints were empty on a Saturday night, usually they are busy. Looks like people are cutting out on having affordable priced takeaway I'm talking about burgers @ $10 and Chicken in Sydney.
I hope they put rates up.
Our rates are still substantially lower than the US, even after the recent cut
Raise the rate up , inflation in their report is bs
I want higher rates to force people to sell and force property prices down so I can buy them cheap
Central banks.... Do you not get the scheme? Did you get your snek oil in the mail?
We were told years ago that our Australian economy was different to the rest of the world! Did they lie?
We immigrate economic growth
But Australia has albo in charge.
That makes me feel so much better.
Greed.
RBA need to raise higher but you are right Aussies are to greedy and nihilistic and will get in debt to buy shiny things to worship.
mmm... second lowest in this group, I can't see a rush by the RBA to drop rates in the next 2 months, but hey, it's anyone's guess, but certainly our economy is very different... as is our country & population.
Thats a good thing, u dont have to do what everyone else is doing. We need to do whats right and that is to keep interest rates high.
