BEST FIREWALL.... EVER?! // GlassWire Review - Personal Security & Privacy Monitoring

- GlassWire is an extremely capable, attractive, easy-to-use network monitor, threat monitor, and system firewall.
The easy to use interface gives you all the information you could need about what apps or processes are transmitting data over your network, how much data is being transmitted, and where it's going, along with a very simple firewall that beats out any others I've used.

This looks really nice. An interface for a firewall that isn't awkward or confusing, a rarity. Nice video bud!

I use glasswire for years. However, now I got a new headset SteelSeries that use the GG app (it's a sound app needing to tweak the sound) and yes you want to use it. This slows down my pc hick ups sound interaction and many more issues with it. Now I remove glassware the problem is gone. I ask the forums and the software developer how to fix this. There are no fixes.
The free version is now a crippled piece of shit, unable to block anything after a BS 7 day trial period expires.....(I think this change occurred in Dec of 2017)
I like Glass Wire but am now looking for an opensource replacement because I can't trust Windows Firewall. Microsoft was implicated in the Prism scandal and together with the NSA captured all our data illegally. The Windows firewall is closed source so even Glass Wire wouldn't show you or block an NSA back door.
Buy something like Kaspersky. The Russians would like that.
glass wire it is just spyware looks nice but steal a loot yours data and a loot yours privacy look great working fine but still spyware..

0:35 Wait, your car broke down?! That looks a little worse than a break-down.
@@marquizzo I mean that was the fixing process lol
The only reason i know about this is coz linus tech tips talked about it
eposvox discount code did not work.
What resolution do you use ? 16k ?
Thanks for video
When you see something, it has already happened. GlassWire is not a Firewall!
When Glasswire alarms something, it means that a connection has been established next to it.
GW controls nothing just shows in in his “nice” make-up graphics. Something for kids who love colorful paints.
I noticed this video was from 2016 - I'm curious if Glasswire addressed any of the issues identified in this video? Updates anyone can add? In particular, I'm not a fan of how many items show up as unknown as he mentioned.
This looks pretty great. I've been using TinyWall for a while and like it well enough (I have a hard firewall too, but like that extra layer and easy access info), and before that for Windows XP and 2000, I absolutely loved Sygate Personal Firewall Pro before they were bought out and eliminated.
This looks sort of like a cross between the two. Very nice. Cheers.
But how do you add and block specific programs manually ?
Glasswire firewall would only let me block programs showing up on it's firewall list. Any way ??
Good video. Glasswire is a good network security tool which protect against several system attacks. Apart from that there are other good security software such as Comodo personal firewall, which can also be given a try.
few vids ago u sir were saying win10 was t most capable os funny t next vid i saw from u u are complaining bout win10 network
Been here since i've subscribed!
Thanks!
btw beside t visuals theres a lot of apps doing t same years ago guess wat in win7
Do they have anything for network wide?
Why isnt it disclosed that this is a sponsored video ? Why would you call it a review ?
Because it's not sponsored? No one paid for this review, no one had any influence on what I said, not one saw the video before I posted it or had to approve it, etc.
Nice video, what antivirus do u use with it ? I'm thinking of trying F-Secure to see it it works fine... ( I want more control over the infected files before they are disinfected / removed). I tried Norton & I was annoyed, I coudn't disable the firewall to use the default Windows firewall with GlassWire. Norton Firewall had a lot of lag when scrolling thru the apps ( I couldn't believe such a bad interface actually exists today & they are asking money for it :)) ) & it detected a lot of files False Positive. I had to restore and archive them ...
Norton is practically malware, McAfee is useless. I use Malwarebytes.
Thx for Info
To fix/undo your Private Network being set to a Public Network (in Windows 10):
Open: Win10 Settings (shortcut is Win-I keystroke) --> Network & Internet --> Ethernet --> click on (your Ethernet adapter) icon --> Turn ON "Make this PC Discoverable" (this sets the adapter to Private Network, verifiable as shown in the classic "Network and Sharing Center" you displayed in the video.)
[If you want to set to Public again, turn OFF "Make this PC Discoverable".]
Reference/Where I found this info:
www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-8/change-from-public-to-private-network-in-windows-8/
Although the article in the link is for Windows 8.1, it applies to Windows 10 too, basically. (I tested it in Win10, it works. And yes, I know -- Crazy, cryptic, unintuitive Win10 settings problems.)
I got it set back to private, had to do a registry hack, as the normal method didn't work. But it keeps resetting the sharing settings, effectively defeating the purpose.
+EposVox Ouch. Well I guess you could try toggling the "Make Discoverable" to Off (Public), then back to On (Private) and see if it fixes your sharing problems. Leave the Network Sharing Center open in the background and watch the adapter toggle from Private, to Public, and back to Private again as you toggle the switch, then test the sharing again after that. Good luck.
The adapter stays Private now, it's the "Make Discoverable"/"Turn on Network Device & File Sharing" is what keeps toggling itself off
$$$ great video ~! Hi from Greece .... Crete ! $$$
well, there is one free security Software i would choose if i dont have the money. its Comodo's Internet Security package. i like it so far, and the settings are nice and clean.
I haven't looked at Comodo in YEARS
EposVox
you should, they improved! =) but even years ago, their Firewall was great! :D
They no longer release a Firewall alone. Too bad, since the their antivirus is not good at all.
Some features are disabled by Comodo.
