Emergency Preparedness - PTO Home Generator

- In this video, I do a power outage simulation so I can demonstrate how my home generator power setup works. I use a 35hp kubota tractor to power a 15,000 watt generator with the power take off (pto). It runs everything in the house easily and works very well for us. Enjoy!

Parents had bad ice storm in SE Mich last winter, I keep telling them they need some sort of generator for heat and the well. These are cheep and reliable to purchase if you already had a tractor. Only bad thing if you don’t have enough fuel on hand and you can’t get it bc the gas station is also out of power you kinda in a bind. Like you I keep drums for this very reason. I live in south Mississippi and try to get a few drums of gasoline in May a head of the season. Keep up the good vids
I reckon a dog kennel house to store p,t,o generator right at the house then reverse tractor to it,set up p,t,o and go.good video.
One of the problems with a PTO generator is a high harmonic distortion, which could lead to eletronic device issues and the 240V is single phase. In my case, I spent an extra $6K to have a 12KWH pure sine wave inverter that puts out 50A, Split Phase 240V. I then use the PTO generator to charge up the battery during the day and run silent during the night. Good video. Thanks.
Fantastic video!
Great set up. Good investment in many tools you will use for years. I plan to run less so fuel goes longer. AC is generally a luxury but mighty nice to have.
Agree, we wouldn’t probably use the AC, just nice to know we can. Thanks for watching!
Without power a little over 30 hours with that storm...our street frequently loses power and that was the last straw. Just signed the order for a whole house backup generator this week. My tractor is only 17hp at the PTO or else I would have also considered a PTO generator. Informative video thanks.
Good choice. Your tractor will only run about an 8kw genny, not likely enough to run everything. Those whole house units are sweet. Thanks for watching.
have you thought of making a shed roof or enclosure that attaches to the framework of the generator rack to protect it from rain or snow in an emergency so it does not get wet
That’s a great idea 🤔
I can't turn my audio up, but I can turn it down. I wonder why that is. so, I can't hear you, goodby.
There have been a few people tell me this. I have listened to my content on phones, PCs, Macs, etc… and I can’t duplicate what you guys are telling me. Only thing I can think is an issue on your end. Sorry man, but thanks for trying.
I think it is a u-tube problem. Thanks for reply.@@LivingOurAmericanDream
