DreamCatcher, a K-Pop Rock girl group...the Dark Angels of K-Pop..:P
Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?
Recommendations for more reactions: Obviously parts 1 and 3 of the Dystopia trilogy, which are Scream and Odd Eye. But also, as a fellow metalhead: Endless Night. And Deja Vu, because it's a masterpiece.

I am a metalhead since 2005 and in 2019 Dreamcatcher came to Italy (100 kilometers from my home). But I didn't know them 😭 I discovered them 3 months ago and now they announced some comcerts in Europe but not Italy. I am desperate and depressed 😭😭

The song who really got me in DC was BEcause, but I like almost all of their songs, title tracks bsides and japanese realises too.
Dreamcatcher is coming out with they new song this coming Monday, so you found them just in time for they new song "Vision" , I'm excited for it!!! if no one said it, Boca means mouth in Spanish, hence the hint of moombahton in the beat cus of its Spanish heritage, but knowing Dreamcatcher they have to put that lil metal in it. ( its what they are known for) but yeah thats why you see them statues with their mouth taped up. this song is directed at verbal bullying. I'm looking forward to see more of your DC reactions, they are underdogs and rising high with every comeback.

For Dreamcatcher (especially Dystopia and Apocalypse series) the subs are very helpful since those are more lyrically symbolic than Nightmare series (which is more visually symbolic). As a quick primer: the Nightmare series is exactly what the name implies - the girls are literal representations of particular nightmares; Deja Vu is a standalone story that was released as a collaboration with a mobile game, so the MV follows that game's storyline; Dystopia series is commentary about cyber bullying and hateful comments; BEcause is another standalone MV... think Stephen King's Misery mixed with the movie Us and you've got an idea; Apocalypse is commentary about human-driven climate change.
In Dystopia, one member is missing from Scream and Boca - Handong had gone back to China to participate in a show... at the end of 2019. And then... Covid happened. It took her 10 months to get back to SK, but she did come back and was present for the final part of Dystopia.

Subs are helpful especially for Dreamcatcher. Boca deals with hate comments so there are some soft and reflective parts mixed with sections of conviction where the guitars start slamming. You can always just rock out to it but for anyone that wants that deeper level it's there. They are a girl group with exactly zero songs about liking a boy SO much. Scream and Odd Eye will probably get recommended a ton in comments those are about bullying and the deceptive false world portrayed online. Endless Night is (autobiographically) about bearing tough times and overcoming challenges to succeed. Translations are occasionally awkward but it's really obvious it's a translation quirk not challenging lyrics.

some of the most diverse music in the world! they have songs across all genres but are known for mixing in rock/metal instrumentation to varying degrees into many of their songs. it's always something new with them since almost all their songs are different. you should have captions on so you might be able to follow some of the themes/imagery... or maybe not since they can get deep and abstract lol ;)
boca means mouth in spanish and the song is addressing online hate/bullying. it's part 2 of their dystopia trilogy which addresses some of the negative aspects of the internet/social media. part 1 is scream and part 3 is odd eye. next tuesday they will have a new album with title track 'vision' which is part 2 of their current trilogy apocalypse.

The translated lyrics are more or less accurate for most kpop groups so I'd recommend putting on the CC, nowadays almost all groups have their lyrics translated into a few different languages, english included - tho if it says something like "autogenerated" or "automatically translated" subtitles etc. then they are rubbish.
I vote yes on the Subs! For the most part in Kpop they're usually pretty accurate when they're available, and Dreamcatcher's especially are really good. You should check out Scream next for sure.

Welcome to the dream world! Dreamcatcher are really fantastic. I hope you'll look at lots more from them. All of their title tracks are at least partially inspired by rock (especially J-rock), metal, and/or hiphop, but they also have a really, really diverse discography that covers everything from retro synth dance tracks ("Sleep Walking") to creepy R&B ("Wonderland") to gentle ballads ("Which a Star," "Always").
You're probably safe turning DC's captions on in the future if you want to; you may run into a little bit of awkward phrasing as the company translates them from Korean themselves, but the translations are the official ones, so you won't run into anything that's just straight up wrong.
If you go to "Scream" next, which is the first part of the trilogy that "Boca" belongs to so I'd recommend it, the captions will also have the names of the members who are singing. If you'd like, I could provide timestamps in this video matching names to faces, but I also understand not wanting to worry about it too soon. The woman with the rap part you liked, though, is named Dami. She's very popular, especially with international fans, for obvious reasons :p

The song by itself sounds sensual, but the lyrics and some of the choices they made in the composition leave you feeling kind of on edge about whether or not it's a good thing giving in, so. Creepy. I would highly recommend having captions on as it will give you a clue as to what is going on.
Boca is Spanish/ Portuguese for mouth. The song is the middle of a trilogy about cyber-bulling. Basically, they are saying be careful what you say / shut it! That’s why the tape over the mouths. Also, something I missed until pointed out, the girl who loses the arrow (Yoohyeon) is also the one who gets shot. It comes back at you.

Hello everybody. I posted a month ago about my sadness because the Dreamcatchers would not come to Italy. Well, in the end I got on a plane for the first time in my life and went to Warsaw. I've seen hundreds of concerts, but this was one of the best in my life. Beautiful and talented 🤘
The tape is a reference to the song title and to the video before this one. Boca is the Spanish word for mouth. This is the 2nd video of the Dystopia trilogy. The first is “Scream” and the 3rd is “Odd Eye”

I would recommend you "Endless night" (one their Japanese releases), "Déjà vu" (it's a collaboration with the video game/anime "King's Raid", the music video is gorgeous and it never fails to make emotional everytime I watch it, and the song is absolutely beautiful), "Chase me" (their debut song, I've seen a lot of people saying it's a bad song but tbh it's one of my favorites, the music video is inspired by the horror movie "The shining"), and "BEcause" (It was inspired by the horror movie 'Us'), tbh their entire discography is gold, even the bsides, these girls never miss!

About subtitles, for me I find them distracting, so usually I turn off the subtitles on the first listen, and then turn them on for the second listen and focus on them with the music. Some reactors like to watch the first listen without subtitles and then react to a coded lyrics video that also shows who’s singing each part and focus on the music without having the MV distracting. At the end it’s all up to you:)
