    Having families move in an out of houses makes sense to me; having houses added, removed, or modified by the game seems over-complicated and something that if added could go really wrong.

    It's nice to see another not the Sims video.
    I'd expect height to be limited by the age group. It would be really great if they could implement a slider, from petite to tall for example, which determines where in the age group your Parafolk ends up. So if you picked tall, your teen would be a little taller than the average and by adulthood it would be more noticeable, remaining that way until old age kicks in. Or something like that.

      If there's paralives to talk about it, I tried to trade it in and out. I like to cover both. Yeah maybe they need a range for each age or something? Your idea sounds feasible, I think

    Honestly I'm really open to anything they might come up with! All I ask for is humour in pop-ups (like in the career chance cards in Sims 2), some randomness, challenge, and consequences! Everything they've shown looks great so far, so I'm not worried at all, just excited to discover all the surprises and happy to be a patron ^^

    Volunteering options or teen/young adult side hustles are a great idea, these sorts of things add another demension to characters lives.I like the idea of cat sitting,dog walking, childcare, doing groceries or cleaning for elderly, helping feed those with empty stomachs etc ;) I also think that would allow services to be purchased/received by active paras-aka a para could hire a dogwalker (their neighbour) and go off to volunteer in their community. Its also something you could start small and build over time-and would be appropriate for a lot of ages.

    I'd love DLC for Paralives, Expansions aren't a problem for any game. I'm sure Paralives DLC will expand the game, in ways similar to The Sims 3. Since they're going to extreme lengths to include lots of regular DLC in the base game, that would normally be DLC in another game. I think the team could do alot of fun stuff, that expands the game, and leads to fun experiences. I definitely and especially want occult/supernatural creatures in Paralives, not everybody plays with them, though.

      I hope they don't go the EA route with DLCs, I like when expansions actually expand on things that are in the game. Things like pets and seasons shouldn't be locked behind DLC but rather a DLC can go more in depth with those features if you get what I mean, like weather in the base game but holidays can be fleshed out in a DLC.

    Though I prefer a cut off of heights between age groups, having overlaps seems more realistic. Yes there are younger teens/children are as tall as shorter adults.
    That would also mean identifying Para's age based of height is out of the question.
    In terms of story progression, yes I would believe families that are not active will move out and into unoccupied houses, but having inactive houses to change over time seems a challenge. A new paint job or flooring is possible, even the furniture might change, but it is kind of insane for the house to expand or a totally new house just pops out of nowhere. With community lots to change I don't know how it would work.
    I for one do not look forward to randomly generated townies with god awful clothes. If there is a pool of Townies that recycle over time I am pretty okay with that.

    • @SimmerErin
      @SimmerErin  2 роки тому +1

      yes and one thing maybe to keep in mind: if height is not an indicator of age, that'll put more pressure/ emphasis on their facial and body features looking distinct from age to age. It's interesting
      I think for sp- the changing lots worries me most. Interior changes may be less complex

      And have a overall height for the family, like have it in Genetics. So if there are only short people in the family then that's all you're going to get but if there's a tall person in the family then the heights can go from how short one parent is to how tall the other is and have a mixture of heights.

      @@SimmerErin I think that interior changes are actually the hardest ones. Whole lot changing is much more easier than people realize. They can creste system that would replace lot with new building from the in-game library. In a case of interior, they would need to come up with a AI system that could place down objects (but I can see it being very limited) or it would change based on manual sets up for the house (it would work on a same base as TS4 auditorium or TS3 festivals). I dig this feature honestly, I don't even need houses to be affected, just public lots. It would give a new layer to multiple generation gameplay as you could see new bussiness or parks with your distant generation. This could give them even basics for a gameplay around being politician / mayor with ability to make changes to town, like building new playgrounds or supporting bussiness

    I'm not really sure about the free meals, though: my ideal would be that you could buy groceries and then make food based on what groceries you bought, and if you couldn't buy groceries because your character has no money then it would be a game over (?)... IDK, other option could be sth like the "quick meals" that you might have bought in the supermarket...
    The thing is that if food is free, then it would be super boring and it removes more options on gameplay.

    The most interesting to me is the free or paid DLC. I agree, if it's a great game I don't mind paid DLC. I'm fine with occults being DLC and I know we aren't there yet but if they do them I'd love to see what they do with them or what other paid DLC they may have in mind.
    I don't think it's weird, but one of the things I personally haven't seen get talked about often is being able to have more advanced edit options for parafolks in the paramaker.
    For example, in The Sims it's always irked me creating multiple sims in the same life stage but who are supposed to be different ages within that life stage. I usually create them in order of birth and hope for the best but they're never in the order I want and I have to use a mod to alter their days til aging. I also want to be able to set the levels of skills and relationships. I know they want people to play the game and experience everything, which I will, but I love creating townies and playing as a more seasoned character sometimes too.

    I wouldnt mind Paralives adding more content with updates. This is how games work nowadays. A perfect example is No Man Sky. It was very boring at release but after a few years and many free and paid updates and DLCs it became a really fun game. Still, i think devs should go with their vision on how the game should go. I think, as far as height goes, it could be useful to have a terminal "adult" height that the child/teen grows into. For example, I'm 25 and only 4'11". I stopped growing at around 13/14. Meanwhile, my 12 year old cousin has become taller than me and is likely to get even taller. Since they're taking their time on skin/age details, it would make sense for life stages to be determined by appearance, not height.
    I guess the only tricky thing is determining when a Para should stop growing, as it differs for each individual.

    I am fine with optional expansion packs as long as the update the main game and make sure that any packs work well with the other packs and the base game. Unlike S4. It would also be really good if we could turn off the packs like in S3 and play with the ones you want.
    Different hight sliders per age seem fine. And I do like that you could have a shirt adult and a tall teen just like real life.

    What I really want regarding build mode is the ability to create your own rabbit holes, if they are to be included on the map. Those Dev responses are really interesting I think with the question about free food they might have misunderstood the person asking. I think they were just asking whether there'd be free snack options on the fridge like in Sims 4 (which are less filling than the paid ones) and the developer started thinking about a whole feature with soup kitchens haha.
    While it isn't really something I would need in the game either, it will be interesting to see how that idea develops.

    Regarding the environment and world changing around the Parafolk: Grass, weeds, overgrown bushes and vines consuming yards / lots over time
    I've been watching the house across from mine IRL get cleaned up, and between that, an interest in yard work, and my overuse of vines in my TS4 builds, I'm heavily inspired. Maybe lump into gardening type or handiness type skills to make the Para more or less inclined to perform a home maintenance task, leading to some run down houses. A landscaping type career that may function similarly to TS4 DHD Interior Decorator career, but with landscaping.

    • @SimmerErin
      @SimmerErin  2 роки тому +1

      yes, I do like weeds and vines, though it's tricky. would you have to have parfolk maintain them? Would any parafolk auto maintain them (I'm probably overthinking)
      Landscaping career sounds interesting :) and I don't think? it's fully been done in a sim game before

    • @NoDecaf7
      @NoDecaf7 2 роки тому +1

      @@SimmerErin I guess the idea is that the Parafolk would have to maintain them. Depending on how much autonomy and progression they pursue, if some Paras opt to maintain, awesome! Otherwise, maybe a government type building to clear them? Or if there are fewer Parafolk in a neighborhood, like it is abandoned, it grows but not so much in higher pop areas. Maybe have it part of the bills system if an area pays for it or not (similar to TS4 EL voting), my mind is taking off and I don't even know what they're planning for the environments! It could maybe also be done through a Government Building rabbit hole option, as a petition to tidy up :)

    While I think it’s absolutely amazing and necessary that the developers are diving so so soooo deep into what can be done and released in just the base game, I do think a few of the things I’ve seen them add/talk about are just a little bit overkill. I’m watching the build mode rn and as someone who like to customize but isn’t extremely savvy on build mechanics no matter how hard I try, it’s a little bit overwhelming. Like the free meals thing just seems sort of…irrelevant. I’m glad they aren’t rushing to put out this game since they’re a small team, but a lot of people are excited for it and I’d hate for them to spend time on gameplay thats too niche or won’t matter to most players. I think they have a good chance to make a much less buggy game than The Sims 4 simply because they have a fresh start to implement the features instead of building on a aging (and flawed) foundation. I do worry that people are asking for too much, everyone having some feature they want. I really like the way they seem to be planing for core features versus DLC, reserving DLC for more unusual content that might change the flavor of the game (eg., magical content). I personally love to have some goals on an event, but not really in the sims 4 style, more like dates in TS2 and wants and fears of the sims - they were basically showing what to do to make the date better, but you didn't have to fulfil them. And it'd probably be possible to make in other events as well, I think the sims 4 weddings are pretty close - but with a time limit (either long enough and the possibility to end early or the player could even set the time limit for themselves?), and maybe you wouldn't choose specific things (like "serve tea"), but more general idea (like "serve something to drink" (which would include tea, coffee, drinks at a bar etc.)). It also make sense if someone dies during your date or birthday party, or if a fire starts, your party will take a hit, because let's face it - if your date starts a fire during your date, you probably won't go to a second date :D And to have the option to have the event not goaled (or not to have a "party score" like in TS2, so the paras wouldn't be sad if the event went badly) would be amazing, because there's so many people who are not like me and they just want to throw a party for their story and don't want their party would be ruined by a random fire (which I love btw :D ).

    Here's an idea for the hobbies thing, if they can't fully create like a complete list of collectables, what they can do is have it be "objects" such as for example a stationary desk that can host like say, stamp collecting, notary, scrap books, and it could work like a skill, but can also "impact" other things, like say if you choose the stamp collecting hobby, you can get the "look for stamps" action when "looking" through the mail, or if say a stamp collection action hasn't been performed in like say a week or such it could impact their happiness or social or such, and if the hobby "levels up" you can get a "masterworks" which could be done by doing specific actions that eventually lead up to "creating" the masterworks, example say you get to the max level of stamp collecting, you can start a "Masterwork-Stamp Book" which then started gives a list of things to do, and after the all the actions you can go back to the "hobby station" and do an action that completes the "masterworks" when then completed the masterworks i.e. the "Masterworks-stamp book" will "appear" in the inventory and of course you can sell it or "frame" it or whatever....
    I was also thinking of the different hobby station that could exist, there could be activities that if you chose a different hobby (or no hobby) there could be some "regular" actions you could do with the station, such as if you were a writer you could use the stationery desk to "write a book", or "write notes", or if a children, "practice writing"
    Hobby stations could be lots of things like, the "stationary desk" for stamp collecting, notary, scrap booking; the "weaving wheel# for knitting, crousaying, quilting; the "Antquie Computer" retro tech collecting, video game designing, computer repair, the Repair bench, wood working, iron working, clock repair; etc etc

I really hope that Paralives implements something similar to the Sims 4 Gallery in their game. I think it would make it really neat if we could just download creations from our favorite builders. There's a lot of things that I still would love to see in this game they mention that there is some time progression okay so I'm a sucker for the Victorian Era and 1800s ect. And what I think would be cool is playing through different timelines and example like if you play a generation 1 para you get to choose the timeline when that para was born and slowly go to the modern times either way it would be fun also you could discover more about ancestors and have a proper inheritance system or something which would be cool because some of the para's could inherit stuff like houses businesses ect. But not only would a timeline thing be fun but you could also build Victorian style house's you could ride carriages instead of cars or bicycles or walking also with each decade new inventions are being invented electricity could be discovered for the first time and make para's excited while some maybe against it lots of opportunities I just think some kind of generations thing and inheritance would be fun to mess with

    I love this game so far, but I don’t like the height slider. More specifically, how it functions. From what I’ve seen it just makes the entire model smaller uniformly. So instead of looking like a shorter person, they are literally completely miniaturised, all the parts and proportions size down the same amount, not just the height of them. Idk, little differences in height would be fine but when I have seen them do it in the demo videos it just looks weird.
    I love the game and I’m excited for its release but I just don’t think the height slider will be something I use much. I assume you could go in after and adjust the width of things to correct for the overall size down, and maybe it would look okay, but yeah.

    • @LysolMyFace
      @LysolMyFace 2 роки тому

      I like the idea of a height slider, I just think it isn’t being executed very well. Maybe being able to change the length of torsos (which would also adjust length of arms), and adjust length of legs separately, would be better?

    • @LysolMyFace
      @LysolMyFace 2 роки тому

      @@SimmerErin yeah I hope it is refined. At the moment it just looks like sizing a whole model down in blender or maya, it doesn’t really realistically change the proportions.
      But here’s hoping they are getting this kind of feedback. While I’m glad that everyone is excited for this game, we should still let them know if we don’t think something is working or going to work, we don’t have to only praise them. So I hope their testers and patrons or donators are letting them know this stuff.
      Overall, the height slider isn’t something that must be used, so even if I don’t like it when it releases, I can just avoid using it. Im still really excited to keep seeing updates.

      Thing about adjustable height, is that it impacts the actions/animations that are designed for the characters interacting with each other and the world. It amazed me that paralives was considering adjustable height at all, and it looks like "fixed proportions" is how they're handling it. Might not be full customization, but better than everyone of the same age being the same height?
