Is this the hiking shoe for you?
I am looking for a comfortable hiking shoe, would you stay this is solid for grip and ankle support?
Wish there was a on foot shot of these. I just got my hierro v7 gtx's and I like them but not quite as tall around the ankle as I would like as my go to rainy day/ winter shoe and work shoe. Thinking about snagging the size 12 before its gone since the 12.5 is gone. Wish I had seen these first before I purchased and wore the V7's. I feel like these are gonna be what I was looking for when I purchased the V7 gtx's.
That little lip at the back is nice for driving, especially if you have a manual transmission. The heel of your foot pivots on that lip instead of the white part of the sole rubbing on your dirty floor mats.
I had to go up half a size because they are so narrow.

9:20 those 'teeth marks' are to keep wet soil from building up against the lugs, not to provide any grip but to allow the shoe to maintain its grip.
Will thermal socks work with these shoes

You seem disappointed that it's not a big burly boot, but its a mid-top water resistant hiking trainer. So of course she will be disappointed if you are expecting a big rugged heavy hiking boot. Sleep much more comfortable than a stiff hiking boot.
Should have shown what it’s like on feet
And you didn’t talk about comfort at all. Fresh Foam is about comfort. That’s it’s main feature. Why not talk about it.
Other than that, good catch on the widths.
I couldn't even fit this shoe properly because it was so narrow. Hence I couldn't review the comfort part of this shoe. I've own other fresh foam NB shoes and I can affirm that they have all been very cushy yet supportive.
