    Bike is a modified Yamaha R1 (early model!)
    Rider is Andy Carlile
    Track is Nurburgring Nordschleife BTG layout (running in public sessions). This converts to about 7m28s full lap time. It has been IMPOSSIBLE to run the track on two wheels, for a laptime, for about twenty years. Managment won't allow it.
    This BTG lap time would convert to about 7m28s full, or 7m23-24s for 'industry' or sportauto comparisons. Bike is 100% road-legal and was ridden for HUNDREDS of nights at the 'ring

    For everybody coming to the comments, 11 years later, to point out that it's "NOt tHE FuLL TrACK", can I just point out that the last two-wheeled race on the full Nordschleife was in the mid 1990s, and we have not been allowed to do laptimes on any of the motorcycle training days for the last 20 years. And motorcycle trackdays, and even private hires for laptiming, are not allowed by the management AT ALL.

    Traction control, abs and wheelie control makes you slower on this track - due to all the bumps and the constant uphill and downhill changes. I started driving there again , after a gap of 18 years in 2016 with a RN12 the same machine Andy used.
    Time was around 9 minutes and i wanted to reach 8:30 in the end of the year.
    During this time Andy was in my workshop often and gave me a lot of tips, including the bike setup. That is the most important part, cause actually this track is like a motocross track with tarmac. I managed to do a 7:50 in 2016. Stock engine, öhlins shock, öhlins cartridge in the stock fork. Dunlop D211 and BST carbon wheels.
    In 2017 i bought a new R1 RN32 and was unable to beat the time of the old bike for about 2 month. After removing every electronic aid except the e gas i hit the same time. The bike had 204 hp on the MGM dyno. Further improvements with the new bike came after very radical changes,
    like wheelbase and geometry. Since Andys record nobody has beaten his time. There were a lot of very experienced riders with the newest bikes availible, and the track has become about 10 seconds quicker, due to the changes they made for the GT3 racecars. This lap was something outstanding - hope you are good Andy...

    • @atommi1
      @atommi1 9 місяців тому

      Yeah im sure of all that. Andy never had proper laptiming gear on its bike, all you have is video of wrist on green hell. Stop this fucking stupid bullshit of yours :D If you did beat nordschleife, why did not your bike run on iomtt. It would had beaten every other bike by 20 seconds?

      Bloodspartan, I don’t know for sure but typically when that kind of thing happens it’s for safety and/or pits, maintenance, etc. A particular few spots on track which are especially dangerous for GT3-type cars perhaps, or straightening out a short section for an access point or something like that. Usually it’s things like that.

      @@isthisagoodname6279 I think flugplatz was shallowed out after a Nissan GTR got airborne and killed a couple of spectators on the VLN. I was driving there one evening around the time of this video and if it is the same rider which I think it is, knew Martin in the Burgstube, came past me before flugplatz and rear wheel was airborne shimmying setting up for the double apex and completely out of sight by the time I was looking down towards Schwedenkreuz. I'll never forget it.

    What amazes me is that the bike does 7:10 and does not exceed the top speed of 260 kp/h. The corner speeds were terrifying, the track was slippery at some pints, that was a seriously amazing performance.. Instant favorite.

    Coming from a non-biker (i'm dangerous enough on 4 wheels), this is just amazing to watch. 7 minutes of jaw dropping, sphincter clenching action.
    Always had an interest in fast bikes but never considered owning one, ever since internet porn got so available I guess I didn't develope big enough cahonas.
    It's clear to see he's put a hell of alot of time in on that track and that he was riding to the limits of both the bike and track. Much respect to Andy. Great vid.

    I’m 52 years old and riding sportbike since 18 and still alive so.....very experience, my man you are one hell of agressive rider there’s a old saying in French (tu tenais le couteau dans les dents )( you were holding the knife between your teethe) hope my English is not that bad.
    By the way I would guess that you used to ride a 600 or 750 for a long time, just the way you keep the beast so high in the revs, usually a 1000cc rider don’t keep it that high,event racing. Anyway most people’s get scared just going on the highway....in a car 😂😂. Just to say your biker most people’s think your crazy, to get on a race track ..... your good for the big White House, but you ......you beat the hell out of the nürburing...... thanks for the ride, your the king
    And long lives the king 👑 👌👌👌👌

      @2639263926392639 5 років тому +3

      Used to race 50cc endurance, maybe that's where the high res everywhere comes from :-). It doesn't feel aggressive, there feels like there is grip remaining. And to some extent this is true. Once some suspension improvements were made this pace was repeatable, but getting a clear run is nearly impossible. Anything faster without using sector times never happened.

    That was Andy Carlisle. He is a lovely bloke, genuine and humble, and I was lucky enough to be staying at the same place he was, so I enjoyed beers, chatted bikes and even helped repair/modify my brother's RSV Mille. Better still, he then took my brother's RSV Mille around the track with me following on my 1050 Sprint. It was nothing like this, but I could still do sub-9 minutes using him sighting the corners.

    • @CosmicSeeker69
      @CosmicSeeker69 16 днів тому

      I 100% relate to you saying about sighting corners. Way back when I was 60 I took my 25 year old Porsche 944S2 there (for it's birthday celebration) and really struggled with confidence into so many of the corners. Then I caught and chased a GT3RS, Bingo, I could watch his roof and have confidence to drive it hard into those corners over brows.... A great experience

    • @miketheknight2268
      @miketheknight2268 6 років тому +1

      RTSRAZORBACK so basically its not a full lap...oh well..

    • @droceretik
      @droceretik 5 років тому +9

      Motorcycles are not allowed to do full laps under normal circumstances. Only when a major company such as Kawasaki does a promo lap, like the one with the ZX10 ridden by Tim Rothig, can a full motorcycle lap be timed. (see the UA-cam video) Presumably Kawasaki Germany hired the circuit as the circuit was clear for the Kawasaki lap.That lap was very rare and may not be repeated any time soon. Motorcycles are restricted to the Bridge To Gantry laps which is about 1.6 km shorter. Tourist laps have mixed traffic which can included cars, vans and buses and vehicles can only do single laps so they need to go through the check point and pay the toll. Consequently any riders trying to do a fast time are usually held up by slower traffic. It's a toll road and there are a few places with speed restrictions. The quickest full lap for a production bike was 7 min 49.71 secs in 1993 by Helmut Dahne on a stock Honda production RC30 VFR 750R. The Tim Rothig Kawasaki lap was claimed to be 7 min 50 sec for a full circuit lap. If this rider, on a stock, slightly modded Yamaha R1, had been able to do the full lap, then it would have been about 7 min 35 secs as Ring experts say that it is about 25 secs extra for the full circuit over BTG. Motorcycles used to race on the Ring but stopped in 1994 due the dangerous nature of the circuit. Motorcycle only track days were held in 2007/2008? but have not been held since I think.

    Best lap I think I've ever seen of the ring, it's one thing doing a fast time in a car, where, if you get it wrong, you might be in trouble, but one mistake here at that speed on a bike and the chances are it's game over... Riders like this guy really seperate the men from the boys!

    • @robertgallacher7214

    For those who were wondering why he did take the full straight at the end to do one full lap: It is because this was a tourist day and on those days you have to leave the track after each round because you pay per round. The straight is blocked in the middle so you have to get off the track and insert your prepaid ticket once more into a machine to get onto the track again.

      Yes it is a rebuilt wrecked R1. Purchased as a crashed bike then completely rebuilt to near stock specs. I think dampers and springs and exhaust are after market. I don't know if there is different chip tuning or any other mods but I am led to believe it is basically a mildly modded stock bike. Tires are road/track sports compound. Rider is Andy Carlisle and he has done 100's of laps. That's why he is so quick. It is worth noting that this lap is Bridge to Gantry and on a public day with enough traffic to add about 20 secs to his time.

      @@zevak1 A tired, worn out cliche' that has no basis in reality. His quick riding come not from masculinity and blind bravado, where he throws caution to the wind. It comes from years of practice and many, many fast laps of Nurburgring. It comes from skill, judgement and confidence. If he rode on testosterone alone and "massive balls" he would have been dead years ago. I think these "massive balls" comments come from their own lack of skill and confidence to ride this quickly. Sure, there is an increased element of risk but riding on adrenaline and being shit scared is a recipe for death.

Because let's be honest, a vast majority of drivers cannot just hop into a RUF Yellowbird and be a driving Lord with it. Most drivers will be able to thrash a 1.2 Polo.

    I've lapped it in 7.18 and I've only been to the Nordschleiffe twice.On my first lap I did in 7.52. So far I've done only 6 laps around there with my last lap being the best with a 7.18. Ridden on a GSX-R1000 K6 with Yoshimura tune.But still have to say it will be very sketchy going under your time.From 7.18 to a 7.12 doesn't seem that much, but it is psycho to get them 6 sec off.I knew the lay-out of the track playing gran turismo and tourist trophy for years on end, but the actual track in real life is way trickier than it seems in a game.And I've only ridden it in super condition.Nice weather and dry track.Been riding sportsbikes for 17years both on track and public roads.
