I really like fields, I do, I do think he can be the future! But I think we have been terrible at qb for so long, literally almost anything is better. But I think Fields still hasn’t put together that full game to take any doubt out of my mind when it comes to the starting qb position. He’s been good at times, maybe even great in moments, but in moments he’s been mid to poor
I dont see that you act like there's a perfect qb in the league name a perfect qb in the league ??? even the few elite qbz they arnt perfect burrow just struggled lastnight didn't even break 20 against giants lol 😂fields is winning period and hasn't been the reason why we lost
Only reason I'm ok with Fields starting some of them rushing TDs he got would Wilson get them with the line we have ? Also receivers not helping him dropping passes

I want Fields to be the answer, but the passing game just isn’t there with him. Receivers and O line need work, yes, but if you watch the tape he’s missing open receivers with a decent pocket on the reg. Not saying he isn’t him, but he’s not him right now.
Yeah what your talking about... happens, but it didn't happen often enough to dock points. This last game he had some, but nothing to pull him off the field for... plus they weren't clean pockets, he scrambled out and then over threw them
for every missed pass, there are 5 examples of Pickens jogging routes and WR getting zero separation. also, a lot of hidden stats with Fields. Pickens dropped an easy TD, tons of lost yards with holding calls. O line has been a disaster schematically (w/ exception of Frazier, and even that has been a pain point with snaps before cadence)
@@mzegeer you’re clearly not watching the tape. Pickens jogging routes it’s all over it, sure, but Fields is missing wide open receivers on every play. This idea that no one is ever open is just factually incorrect and based off of a narrative since preseason that our wide receivers suck (which they do, but they’re still getting open, again, if you actually analyze the tape you would see).
I would like to see what we have in Russ. I don’t think Fields has done anything spectacular but he’s definitely been solid. 2 homes games before the bye. One is against the Giants, give Russ the chance to prove himself, then evaluate after the bye
@@MorningDew85 Nah I don’t think so. It’s a veteran led team that understands it’s a business sometimes. Plus Russ was supposed to be the starter and was given the title from the jump. But I’m just saying eventually we’re gonna have to see what Russ can provide. Why not right before the bye and before the big gauntlet starts
Time for Russ. Fields is no longer throwing with anticipation and his accuracy has gone downhill. It's a good time to see what Russ can do. If Russ fails, you can always go back to Fields.
I think now is the perfect time to give Russ an opportunity. Fields has made some plays with his legs but the passing game itself has been rough. With Fields being the younger, inexperienced QB who was designated QB2 at the beginning of the year, there’s no harm in sitting him. He was only meant to hold it down in Russ’s absence. Russ is healthy and Fields hasn’t been a world beater as starter. I feel like it would be kind of disrespectful to not start Russ at this point. You have to at least see what he looks like with prep time. You don’t want to have to turn to him if things are dire.
Its old heads vs YNs with this conversation u old heads want russ for his accolades meanwhile the rest of us saying justin more athletic and gonna take us farther tbh i feel with russ we definitely gonna end up up 9-8
Give Russ the start. Tell Fields they want to see what Russ can do, don’t hurt his confidence and then make a decision during the bye. I don’t think starting Russ will hurt fields confidence like most say because he probably understand that he is the future right now but if they have the opportunity to work with a veteran QB and have fields learn under him and observe his on field in the moment play, he might even improve.
In this offense, with the current (lack of) pieces, WRs not getting open on time, & a myriad of OL injuries, a 35 year old Russell Wilson turns this offense into a Pickett-esque 3 & out/sack fest, with defenses teeing off on Russ. The almost immediate inside pressure the OL gives up nearly every drive should bode well for a 5'11" QB who's never been a "get the ball out quick" guy. I do believe Russ & Fields held the ball the longest in 2023, with 3.1 & 3.2 seconds respectively. (numbers aren't exact, but I remeber they were separated by a tenth of a second or two). Even then, who's getting open/winning their routes early from this WR group? Joe Flacco has a top 3-4 reciever room. I'd agree if Steelers weren't about to lose another starting OL for a week or two & they traded for Davante Adams, added Skoronek back to the active roster, & never allowed Van Jefferson on the field ever again. Van Jefferson makes Donte Moncrief look like AB. Both guys recruited by Hugh Freeze to play same Z reciever position. You can tell.
The holding the ball stat is flawed, offensive systems are not a constant, if a team is in third and long a lot of course they are going to consistently have a longer time to throw because you have to actually wait longer for deeper plays to develop
I don't like justins passing, he is a good runner and can make certain throws but I don't think he can pass the ball efficiently when defenses are playing really good
Lmfaaaoo the difference between Russ and fields putting up similar numbers is that one is 25 and steadily improving. The other guy is 36 and widely believed to be on the decline.
Russ is a way more accurate passer and can process quicker because he is 35 not 25, the offense has to score more points per game to contend, not interested in trying to develop a player we need to win now while our stars on defense are in their prime, 2 years from now is too late. Old Joe Flacco tore us up after the young Justin fields clone left the game against the colts.
We also won a lot of games with Charlie Batch at QB when Ben was out, should we have just stuck with Batch and kept Ben on the bench because we were winning? The idea that you get a legit super bowl caliber QB for 1 million dollars for the season and not play him because you want to try to develop a younger guy is stupid, They have to score more points per game to have any legit chance to contend this season. QBs dont usually take 4 plus years to develop, yes Fields is a great athlete, but if he loses a step or gets injured what do you have then? I will tell you, you have nothing because he isn't a great processor 4 years into his career and is not consistently accurate throwing the ball. 35 year old Russ cant run like fields but he is still a very accurate passer and one of the best deep ball throwers in league history, play the man, we need to win now, and by winning i am saying beating playoff caliper teams not a bunch of teams with backup QBs. Relying on Fields mobility is a ticking time bomb, if he gets hurt and loses some of that mobility it is game over, because he isnt that great in the pocket. I think Fields is decent QB but not one that is going to allow the team to contend this season. Give Russ a chance, we have more to gain than to lose, if the offense doesnt score more points with Russ you can switch back, if Fields confidence is hurt too much by that, than he is mentally weak and will never be the guy anyways.
Just seems like you just moving the goalposts every week just give fields the start it's going to get to a point where we're running out of weeks you never want Russell out there that's what you're saying don't put russ in unless field does bad for multiple games
