  • I've decided to share my ZOE Nutrition experience as I try to combat fatigue. This time we look at what's in the box and find out what it's all about. Whilst unboxing my Zoe app tells me I have a task to do - so I fit the blood sugar sensor to start the journey.
    I will make follow-up videos on the Testing Day, the Challenge phase, what I learn when my personalised results are in, and how Zoe influences my food choices moving forwards, and of course how it is affecting my health.
    If you fancy trying out Zoe for yourself, here is my affliliate link: joinzoe.mentio...
    ‪@joinZOE‬ is a great place to start to find out more.
    My videos are usually on outdoor swimming and adventures outdoors, and these will be resuming soon, but fatigue and burn out has interupted my creative flow.

    I don’t like how much it costs. It’s only for people who are well off. I’m struggling paying for electric and food as it is. I have Fibro and M.E. and have been struggling with exhaustion for 10 years and bed bound. Why can we not get help for free instead of pumped full of drugs or left and forgotten. Long Covid sufferers get so much more help than I ever have.

      I hope that as things progress the costs become more affordable. Having said that the support and information so far means i have found it fascinating and good value for money, so far. In terms of the long Covid clinic, I have receive support in the form of online courses about managing fatigue etc, which have been of some use. I’m sorry to hear that you are in poor health and I hope you get some support.

      I was listening to the long covid podcast which suggested that there should be a lot of cross over from findings from LC research that is also applicable to managing and treating ME/CFS 🤞wishing you both well.

      These tests unfortunately are very expensive for computational power and other resources involved, as for now there is no way to get it done for free unless someone rich pays it for you. Only a few years ago, just the gut microbiome exam costed around 5000 pounds, so the hope Is that with time passing by it lowers more and more

      @@ameliaporta7539then how about the Government stops sending money overseas to countries who don’t need it and use that money to fund these tests instead?

    HI Rachel, thanks for the update on the gaint yellow box!! I am uber-interested to hear about your results and progress as I am quite focused on nutrition, exercise, and health in my daily life. Recently I have participated in some alumni webinars which focused on the gut microbiome and how it affects our overall health. It is fascinating!! I have also learned that this field of research is going to explode over the next five years or so… there’s so much that is now being discovered about the bilateral communication between our brain and our gut. I’m really hoping you experience positive results… please keep us posted on your progress. On a slightly different note, the ice has been thawed off the lakes for about two weeks now and the wild swimming at my favourite lake could not be better. The water is breath-suckingly cold, the sun is out, and I have been joined by a pair of Common Loons during my swim which is really quite a rare treat. (The Common Loon is a strikingly beautiful bird and is the iconic symbol of the Canadian Wilderness. They mate for life, and each Spring they swim about with their baby on their back.) Thanks for the update… thank goodness wild swimming has begun for 2023 here in northern 🇨🇦. Ⓜary💦🏊‍♀

      Hi Mary, you might be interested in the Zoe Science and Nutrition podcasts, they tackle just this topic and more. I've had my results back and it is fascinating. Another video coming soon.
      I love that you have been able to get back into the water, you are really spoilt with the amount of wildlife - I get excited if I see a swan take off! One day I'll come over for a swim and visit the loons!

      I do t think swimming is recommended with it on, but you could always contact the Zoe team and ask them. My sensor had a funny 5 minutes after I got out from a 10 min swim. Was worried I’d trashed it!

    I’m looking at joining this but I’m more interested in controlling my blood sugar spikes and improve energy levels. If you do a yearly membership do you get the CGMs included ? Or do you pay extra for them given usually you need to replace them every 14 days or so ?

    • @EverydayAthleteRach
      @EverydayAthleteRach  Рік тому +2

      Hi you get one CGM and during the 2 week period you’re wearing it you are guided through some blood sugar experiments to see what foods and food combinations do for your blood sugar levels. When you get your results you find out about which foods affect you and how so there’s no need for a continual CGM.

    How long does the Zoe blood sugar sensor last? Do you have to replace it every now and then, or is it one time thing? Secondly if I have recently finished antibiotics course, do I wait to do the microbiome test,

    • @EverydayAthleteRach
      @EverydayAthleteRach  11 місяців тому

      It's a one-time thing that lasts for 2 weeks which is plenty of time for ZOE to analyse your blood sugar clearing vs what you've been eating, and for you to get a handle on what affects it the most.

    Looks interesting. I did a Happy Gut course which focuses on FOMAPS and learning how to avoid those that negatively affect your Gut health - it worked really well and now nearly 2 years later I still eat mostly (95%) whole foods and avoid the fodmaps that affect me and feel so much better for it. Hope this works for you!

    • @EverydayAthleteRach
      @EverydayAthleteRach  Рік тому

      I swam once but the sensor lost signal for a few mins and that was enough to make me not swim for the rest of the time. I didn’t want to waste my investment. Turns out it was stuck on really hard so wouldn’t have come off. I would look up the manufacturer and check what they say about it.

Lots of people putting everything down to long covid when there could actually be another reason that could be sorted out.
