Hey MW5 Fans! Due to an upload error I couldn't present you the Mechwarrior 5 episode thatI planned for today. Trying again tomorrow! Also worth noting: The video was recorded prior to the recent patch. Now you can fire more LRM5s in a single alpha strike. Wooohoo!
I like LRMs on lighter mechs. With light mechs you want to keep distance and scoot away, LRMS let you participate but keep safe and get where you are needed.
@@1HeatWalk MRMS on mechs without quirks are pretty rough. They are about as far from point damage as you can get. Mediums are extremely good for LRMs. Lrm 5 and 10 are extremely tonnage efficient, but larger mechs can't justify using the slots or the hard points to run them
The Cougar, being a tiny heavy mech, I feel is also well suited to being a LRM boat. It's not the fastest, but it doesn't have to be. Also, you can really customize your quirks by how you choose your omni-pods.
Try dropping to ATM9s and put a TAG on each arm (in case one arm is behind cover/blocked). Then max your range w/ skills as it also extends the TAGs. You can get hard-locks in 0.25 a second at anything less than 800m away.
The difference is that a LRM20 generates 6 heat every 4.6s whereas 4xLRM5 generate 9.6 every 3.5s (on your build there anyway). That's why the new legendary longbow is heatsoaked all the time and actually producing less DPS running 14xLRM5s. If you calculate DPS you get 4.35 versus 5.71 for the LRM5. IF you then calculate a ratio of heat per DPS then it is 4.83 to 7.73. That may be more efficient on a mean baby loaded with heat sinks but I doubt that it is optimal on a ACW with only 11. The efficient build lies somewhere in the middle.
Excellent math, but Baradul is the "structure=emergency heat sink" guy; coupled with his constant Cool Shot use, I think he's willing to eat the heat inefficiency for the DPS.
Now you can run both now. I have an Archer that runs 6 LRM5 and 3 LRM 10 The quick combo is firing the initial 60 missiles, followed by the 30 5s. The full combo is firing 3 full salves of 60, then Chain firing the 5s until you lose lock.
The best Light LRM boat is the Kitfox. I run 4 LRM5s, 3x L.AMS, ECM, and Tag. You stay close to your team, but behind cover because enemies like killing kit foxes, look for enemy Missiles to shoot down and fire your own.
How do you feel this compares to the Artic Wolf A? I run 2 LRM10 and 2 LRM15 plus ECM. There's even laser slots if you want tag. Although I think I dropped it for extra ammo.
You forgot to add narc, Narc helps a lot imo. still go 111 with speed tweak and an XL 250 and should free up enough tonnage for narc a ton of ammo and maybe some more lrm ammo
The Clans did develope the Streak LRM system of weapons. Work just like Streaks SRM but longer range, no indirect fire though. Wish they added those to the game.
Hah! Been playing this build for years. Its utterly hilarious if you've maxed your speed skill, as nobody is expecting a LRMboat that is running around at over 100kph and just never stops moving. It works incredibly well on Canyon Network. Try chainfiring them in a continuous stream, unlike what Baradul suggests. Not only are you causing their AMS to fire constantly (which is murderously effective in causing L-AMS boats to shut down or come close to it), but it always reveals their location. Also, you're constantly causing the 'warning, incoming missiles' SFX to go off in their cockpit which can be highly distracting. That and they'll be concentrating, usually, on your stream of missiles. If you have friends that have far larger salvos they can launch off, they tend to get missed/forget those are incoming. Lastly, the constant pounding tends to immediately make your enemies duck into cover and stay there.
Sniper weapons (not including LRMs) need to be nerfed. It's ridiculous to have weapons that can output almost as much dps as medium range weapons that can do so from far outside the maximum range of other weapons and are still very effective at short range. FYI, LRM 5s had their HSL increased in the last patch. You can now fire 6 without ghost heat.

Did you also experience the wall of Viper-H's, Bara?
Return of the narctic wolf haha
If you're interested, the spitfire can fit the equivalent of LRM70 using LRM5s and a couple other changes, or just go erppc and rl200

I do this with the clan Jenner it has its moments
MRM is superior and more well rounded for situations. Better pin point damage.

Target retention is a must with an LRM build. HOLD THOSE LOCKS. Love your content
If you dropped down to a 255XL, you could fit a NARC in as a replacement for the Tag you don't have.
You made those LRMs look dynamic Bara, that's the best ya can do.
Mon thru Fri work and my weekend sit back and watch you and TTB

That's how I use one of mine. 2 LRM 15's, 2 MPL's. Mid/Long range support.
I put an ecm, x4 er smalls and x3 lrm15's. Only goes 87kph but if you stay with the pack mostly everyone ignores you
2xLRM15 and ultra AC5 with er small laser. The Jammy Dodger does well for me.
The ECM variant is one of my go to mechs. x2 atm12's on it, and you can get pretty close for max damage with the ECM

Ive been playing this mech a lot with 8 srm 6 and one srm center torso. the alpha is crazy!
Urbie coming in clutch in that first game.

You're right but the weight savings of going for LRM5s means you can fit DHS.
Thanks for the video
that ending on the first one!
Urbies! Roll out!
Hero urbanmech!
Alien Ant Farm reference. Nice.

An LRM Arctic Wolf is basically _the_ definition of Shoot N Scoot.

Interesting build will have to try it out
I run a variant of this, Slightly lower engine but a NARC beacon to spot for myself
The best lrm boat ive played
The 2nd game in particular was a great game to watch. gg all around.

I''m running something similar on my jenner right now. Surprisingly fun time!
I basically run the IS version of it, the Dervish Frenzy aka Trollvish. Slower compared to the AW, but you can have JJs.
I feel like my purifier is ignored whenever I drop in it
12 out of 10!!!
You forgot to add narc, Narc helps a lot imo. still go 111 with speed tweak and an XL 250 and should free up enough tonnage for narc a ton of ammo and maybe some more lrm ammo
Chain fire for cockpit shake! You can control your rounds/min. Plink or "alpha".
There actually is a short-range LRM variant. It's called an ATM.
ATM's have longer effective range than any LRM's. They are more flexible, ie. *tactical* .
The Clans did develope the Streak LRM system of weapons. Work just like Streaks SRM but longer range, no indirect fire though. Wish they added those to the game.
Playing with Bara is almost as fun as playing agaisnt.
still remember 2shotting him with a splat huntsman ... beware surprise attacks bara :D
Hello! Tell me, will there be a guide for the Spitfire longbow? and can you provide a link to the build from this video? Please)
Did you not take some target retention partially because you are direct firing and partially because you needed the cooldown perks?
I tried this build and just did only 90 dmg because enemies had so many AMS :(
15:50 "Annhi, are you okay?" Is that a Michael Jackson reference?
I don't think I've seen you play a nova cat B with lrm's. I think you would like it 👍
Can you chainfire to avoid ghost heat?
Seems like a somewhat older build?! Since the newest Patch you can shoot 6 LRM 5 (or ATM3) without Ghostheat.
только что собрал такого механического зверя. пошел испытывать. как раз недавно читал про обновление - что lmr5 оптимизировали запуск множества
Urbie be rolling
Brutal!! but fun!
LRM with 2/2 on loses in a nutshell. You need great teamwork for LRM to be feasible.
ANGRY BEES are always 😊
solar rain sighting!
love lrm boats they are so tasty, been playing light mechs a ton and hunting missiles boats so much fun
And that is why the beat LRM boats are Light and Medium.
✌️

feel like id lose a single LRM5 for a Narc so I can get my targets.

Great vids only joking
Be sure to stretch before u overextend
Nobody pays you to bring the missiles home.
lrm builds are all troll builds now lol jk
Just say no to Lrms
Show me where on the paperdoll the missile touched you.
