My boyfriend and I bought tape measures at the same time. One of them doesn't start at zero. There is a gap of about 1/4 inch before the 0 line. Honestly who makes these products?

At least many of them can be used as weapons instead of measuring devices.

That gap is intentional as it either fills a gap when pushed against a wall with the silver tip or substracting it when hooked onto a corner. Oherwise your tradie would always be off by 1/4"

i use the red ruler to measure from underneath
