This may shock you, somehow, but most traffic stops go completely normally with no issues. Most day to day encounters are uneventful and everyone acts like normal adjusted adults.
Do not for one second mistake the fact that we have YT, fb, body cams, camera phones, twitter, fear mongering news channels, and Reddit make you think that everything is doomed.
Most SOBER people are well adjusted and mature adults behaving the same way we have for many decades. You let confirmation bias + negative news feeds + social media manipulate your viewpoint and perspective of the world. If society had the same tech/internet 50-60 years ago you would see the exact same themes play out.

I am a retired (Canadian) RN and I had a few experiences where there was an older immigrant patient who didn’t speak a word of English. I’d ask the family how long the patient had been living in the country and it was always 40+ years. I get that it can be easy to move to another country and move into neighbourhoods where your native tongue is spoken. But here’s the thing: during night shift, when visitors are not allowed, we’d have no idea what these patients were trying to tell us. And to have to take the time in our already extremely busy schedule was such a pain and extremely frustrating.
If I moved to another country learning the language would be among the top of my priorities. Not only to make it easier for myself, but out of RESPECT to the people who live there.
