    I’m not even a fiddle player…
    (struggling 3 finger style banjo)
    I also use Strum Machine.
    You had me at “ notey-notey”.
    I’ll take gold nuggets of learning wherever I can get them!
    Thank You

      Yay! That is awesome to hear. And I also do a lot more in depth discussion of this kind of thing on www.fiddlevideo.com so check that out if you get a chance. Happy fiddling!

    Strum Machine is amazing You can make your own songs and see the chords in all song keys You can speed it up and slow it down you can also try it free for a month but it only took me a week to register for it

    My favorite feature of Strum Machine could be used for this example. I’d copy the link to your tune and paste it into the reference section Of Strum Machine. Use the UA-cam feature to slow the video down to half speed.

    Fabulous info Megan! Can't wait to try this out. Have been a SM subscriber nearly 2 years, using it mostly for OT backup. What a great way to break into BG..

    Can this app be used for Traditional Irish tunes like reels and jigs. What about time signatures?

    • @MeganLynchChowning
      @MeganLynchChowning  2 роки тому +1

      Yep! It accepts all time signatures and I use it for all kinds of tunes including Irish and Scottish. Check it out!

    Sorry, I have to disagree about your tune-choice statement, there is a very limited selection of “folk” tunes/songs ie. old-time fiddle tunes or songs!
    Of the 50-odd old-time tunes presently in my StrumMachine library, I found a total of one tune in the public library, the rest are home-made. (I’m currently adding two-three a week).
    It would be a great help if we could add our tunes to the public library, the tune/song choices would increase exponentially…

      Hi Tim! You actually can add all the tunes you've created to the public library. If you click on SHARE, it will prompt you to submit and you can do that easily. Would love if you added more - I've added dozens myself, but more bluegrass and Texas style.

    I am a bit confused. If I am on the D chord do I play only D A F# ? What about the pentatonic scale or even the whole scale of D?

    • @MeganLynchChowning
      @MeganLynchChowning  Рік тому +1

      You can absolutely broaden out to the pentatonic scale. That would be great. I like for people to just start with the notes in the chord though, especially if they're newer players and need fewer choices. : )
