Thank you for sharing. While I agree that it's important not to be overly legalistic, I believe there are times when simply "checking off the box" can still be used by God. I once heard a sermon about the importance of not relying solely on feelings and emotions, and the need to discipline ourselves to engage with the Word. What about the people who have a sincere struggle with this, I.e. who don't usually pick up a book and read it?
Relying on feelings and emotions will inevitably lead you away from God and into the world. I do agree that being legalistic by checking off the boxes is still good….it’s like going to the gym when you’re not feeling it, you still get benefit from it.
