    Where/what do you get for the aluminum material? First time I've seen it used in a laser video. And great demonstration on the P2 conveyor.

      It's just colored aluminum flat stock that you can find at nearly any building supply store. Buy in large rolls or by the foot. These are personal projects. What you would charge for something like this depends on how much time you spend creating the gcode file and how long it takes the laser with the settings that you use, which is likely to be different between flat stock suppliers since they probably don't all use the exact same coatings or apply them in the exact same thickness. I find that there's a bit of fluctuation for power/speed from one project to the next even if I paint the aluminum myself. The type of graphics that you're working with will also dictate your settings. Simple vectors like these are hard to mess up. But a high res png photo could take some time and a bit of scrap to dial in.

    Hi! I wanted to ask, how much a customer would pay for this product? Counting material, design and labor costs? Just to get a reference. Thank you, great video!

    In your previous videos when you made electric motorcycles, where did you find the difference parts like wheels and suspension?

    Great video and I also have them, but I was just looking at Xtool F1 and what you feel about this vs Laser Pecker? I need something for metal etc and don’t want to waste money on something that might be regretted later? Many thanks and happy new year 😊

    Just an FYI but Quantum Tech HD is reposting your videos. Can't wait to see more videos on your channel. Have a happy new year.

      Thanks, same to you! Yes, I sold them licenses to repost on their platforms under the condition that they give credit (notice my channel tag in their video titles). They can get twice as many views in just a couple of weeks than what I can muster in a couple of years. It's not a huge help, only a fraction of a percentage of the views on their videos translates to new subs for me, but it's better than nothing and they're paying for it, so I'm content with that. Would be nice if I didn't have to resort to this, but it is what it is.

    How did you get the aluminum to flatten out after it's been sold as a round coil?

    • @JamesBiggar
      @JamesBiggar  10 місяців тому

      It's thin aluminum, not rolled in a super tight radius and it's not hard to work. Just cut a piece to length, hold each end with your hands and gently curve it in the opposite direction and roll the curve back and forth, if that makes any sense. If it's small enough, roll it over your leg with a little pressure. Doesn't take much.

      Building supply store. Comes in large 2ft wide by 200ft long rolls, variety of colors. Can be bought by the foot, too. We use it in construction for window, door and siding trim, fascia, flashing, stuff like that. Bare in mind that different lasers react differently to different types of paint. Not all brands will use the exact same coating on their aluminum flat stock, and some will be thicker and more durable than others. Best to experiment with samples first before committing to a large project. I normally just buy white with bare aluminum on the back side so I can spray paint that with a thin coat of any colour I need at the time and use the white side as the back side of the finished product.

    I've always wanted to get a K40 but the older I get, the more appealing these sort of "less tinkering required" solutions are starting to look appealing.
