Let us know how you rank these martial arts! And don't thumb us down just cause Jon doesn't like your discipline. It only hurts our channel
What is your crass and brutally honest opinion, on the controversial mixture of Muay Thai + Peek-A-Boo + Judo combined? Would such a combination of combat styles be considered LETHAL???
I like how this is still 100x more respectful and mostly open minded than most MA tier lists by low-level/non martial artists and your in the BUSINESS of fighting.
That was exactly the idea. There are so many of these tier lists out there, but why not one by an actual high-level MMA fighter?
@@FightfulOverbooked Hey, what about a low level mma fighter?
@@FightfulOverbooked Hapkido, Sanda, Japanese Ju Jitsu, and Jeet Kune Do are missing on the list. Can you make another one including them assuming the fighter is highly proficient in each style, thanks.
Don't even listen to a word by someone who doesn't train.
I've always wanted to train in muay Thai and even got encouragement from my father to do so, but my mom wasn't having any of it (both my parents are Thai lol). Instead they enrolled me in wrestling (Greco Roman / freestyle / folkstyle) and taekwondo. It wasn't until high school until I started going to a boxing gym and that changed my mindset a lot in terms of watching and appreciating combat sports.
which one do you think is more fun and efficient in a fight?
Yeah, as a kick-boxer I’m going to try out wrestling just wondering what it’s like compared to boxing?
@@Dude24638 Im not a professional fighter, but if you're talking about a combination of martial arts, wrestling and boxing would be the perfect starting point for anyone getting into MMA. If you can master the fundamentals of hand to hand combat, the sky is the limit. Also to answer the question directly, wrestling is ground/grapple. Boxing is clinch/striking.
2:38 I put Kick Boxing on that World Champ level.
Proceeds to put it on Hall of Fame level....
To be fair, he did subsequently say it should be at Hall of Fame and explained why
Probably the best martial art tier list on UA-cam tbh
Kung Fu has full contact sparing.....not sure how he does not know this. " I would not put my life on this"....they habe throat grabs, groin kicks, eye pokes...smgdh. Fitch is one of my favorites, but apparently he only thinks in rems of sport
There is video of judo beating Muay Thai. And other striking arts
I do bjj and muay thai and it's a deadly combo
imo the best martial art combo
@@the_pyr0maniac_canneyeah prob but maybe add wrestling to really put it all together
@@taiz_1726 judo is also a good option
Add wrestling also
Crazy comb
This is the only video on martial arts rating that didn’t slam tae kwon do I’ll definitely subscribe to that 👍🏻
Right? And I see a trend where people say "Well, TKD is pretty good but they don't use hands...???". I will agree that Olympic style TKD doesn't use hands, it seems, but many TKD schools, especially OLD STYLE (not the Mcdojo ones) do use both hands and feet. After all, TKD means "the way of hands and feet". Have trained in some very good TKD schools, but have seen some that are just "belt factories". You can find schools in any of the arts that are just watered down.
Finally someone who knows what he's talking about. Taekwondo's "advanced kicks" may be useless, but if a muay thai or kickboxing roundhouse kick is highly effective, than a Taekwondo roundhouse kick to the ribcage is highly effective. Mechanically they are similar, only Muay Thai uses the shin and Taekwondo uses the ball of the foot.
great vid :)
I’m a boxer but I’ve been so interested in Judo and feel like it would be a good way for striker who’s discipline doesn’t have that clinch game such as my own and Kickboxing, Savate. So I feel like I really want to practice Traditional Judo cause if I’m not mistaken they actually teach submissions, locks, and such.
Yes in judo you will also learn how to fight on the ground.
Usually you can find a cheap Judo Club if your in a decently sized City.
@@ht8138 lots of Judo Clubs in the closest city to me. I’m moving up there when my lease is up next year. I convinced my fiancé to try because, there’s a lot of great self defense techniques in Judo that would be great for self defense especially for women since it doesn’t exactly require overpowering. Until then I’ll stay fit and work hard on my main skill for now which is boxing.
He did say they learn but they don’t focus on it as much as the throws etc.
What is your crass and brutally honest opinion, on the controversial mixture of Muay Thai + Peek-A-Boo + Judo combined? Would such a combination of combat styles be considered LETHAL???
I would swap judo and bjj. Because throw is a very powerful and dangerous weapon. Also judo guys are usually physically stronger.
What is your crass and brutally honest opinion, on the controversial mixture of Muay Thai + Peek-A-Boo + Judo combined? Would such a combination of combat styles be considered LETHAL???
@@OtomoTenzi, how will you combine Peek-A-Boo and Muay Thai? Stances are very different. If you want to come close with Peek-A-Boo, the best clinch option is body lock. So you better choose Sambo or Greco than Judo.
Depends on the level of Judoka. Many Judoka don’t truly learn kuzushi until they are a black belt and would thus not be able to perform any kind of koshi waza in the street without they’re back being taken. So a black belt in either might make your point valid but like a blue belt in bjj to an orange belt judo. I’ll take the bjj blue belt everytime.
Bjj guys would throw themselves with their black in the ground, and get kicked on the nuts. 😂😂
Machida has a shotokan background, not Kyokushin
Thanks WOW THAT'S AWESOME
I love that GSP is French for him
Wrestling is EXACTLY where it supposed to be. Props 🤝
I never took Sambo but can admit that it is Hall of Fame along with Muay Thai and Wrestling. Any list that doesn’t put Sambo in the first tier will lose credibility as most current Dagestani/Russian UFC champs are from Combat Sambo background.
Most fights under represent wrestling I’m glad it got the respect it deserves
If you practice weng chun right and incorporate sparing it has potential I feel like it should be given a chance
Fr. Tony and Anderson have used it and they used it pretty effectively in mma, especially tony against the cage vs Pettis
7:41 Is that your comic collection 😂😂😂😂
Me watching how he puts judo and tae kwon do in the same tier: 💀💀💀
love to go against you mate
Fairbairn Sykes? Kudo DaidoJuku? MCMAP? Glima? Sanda? Dambe? Pekiti Tirsia? Savate?
Also, should divide between Striking Martial art and Grappling Martial art tier list
so for self defense MT with wrestling?
I have a question, I want to start practicing a combat sport to be more confident in a confrontation situation and be able to defend myself
-So I searched up some gyms and these two are close to my house ,but
- One is on it Judo and they make good competitors and other gym is an mma gym with striking lessons, BJJ ,wrestling,Muay Thai
-And I want to know if I should go to the Judo gym and master Judo or
-Go to the mixed gym so I can also learn some striking that I may need in self defense or fight ??
You should do some striking for like six months, you will get beaten in the face and won’t fear it, then master judo. I would personally do like that
Wow Muay Thai at no.1
I train MT but would out it 2 or 3 coz no ground work or submissions
Muay thai should be highest tier together with BJJ & Wrestling, with boxing just a tier below
Muay Thai Numba 1
Machida does shotokan)
He does!
Sub zero does shotokan too:)
Where do you think Pencak Silat would land?
Catch wrestling is goat
Lol I do Kung fu and just wanna say we don’t just hit a wooden dummy, we do spar
If you wanna learn how to fight quit it
I like the traditional stuff, I do silat and vovinam when I travel around this region(I’m from Thailand) but sparring may not be enough if you just punch and kick to the body like in silat. I guess vovinam is alright
did a little kickboxing in the late seventies.. most always good boxers won
Great video, Most Wing Chun schools are eh, you need a good teacher who teaches sparring etc. supposedly there’s guys that can beat grapplers. Capoeira is an Afro Caribbean art hidden in dance. Great video and great advice
Y’all need to be more specific with the context. Is this for self defense or the octagon?
Him- “If they don’t spar it’s not practical”
Max Holloway- “Hold my beer”
U think holloway's never sparred b4?
Max Holloway is an old battle tested Mixed Martial Artists. He does his "hard sparring" in the octagon to extend his fighting career and carry less injuries with him into a bout. Of course amateurs need to spar to know what works and what doesn't.
@@boogeyman1016 I’m aware he has I was making a joke.
@@Yasharal110 I know Holloway’s routine I was just simply making a joke
@@McLovin-qk3rh O okay my bad.
The smile when he remembers getting bullied by that friend kid
Learn that every art can be devastating in the correct hands.
why?
If an art is devastating in the "incorrect" hands - this tells you that you got a deadly art
In the "correct" hands even a spoon can be deadly
SALTY at that little French Kid! I gave you Round 2. You should make a Video with me...DanTheWolfman
Silat?
Here’s a crazy fact Jon finch knocked my coach’s front teeth out if Jon finch sees this he knows who I’m talking about
Machida is shotokan karate practitioner
Wing chun
JJ here is meant BJJ but not too clear
what about itf taekwondo?
WTF & ITF I sparred with both but I had a difficult time with ITF. WTF was a cakewalk
Just don’t do Kung fu just do wing chun, jeet kun do,and shalion martial art bc those are the only people that have known to be able to fight like ip man,Bruce Lee,and any shalion fighter there are so many arts of kung fu but they are all pretty much useful except these 3 and when practiced right like adding sparing then I’m pretty sure you know how to fight
Taekwon-DO ITF they do use their hands, that's the traditional one not the Olympic version.
The Problem is most places teach wtf and people don't get the difference
I did Rhee Taekwondo in Aus. It did hands feet & grappling.
Depends on the instructor my nephew is a black belt in WTF and his instructor teaches throws, hands, kicking and so forth.
I always feel like if you're going for pure self defense you only need either Boxing/MT or MT/BJJ 3rd would be Kyokushin/Boxing
I'd rank Judo/wrestling/Sambo above BJJ. Throw someone down on the hard concrete and they ain't getting back up. A big advantage is you can remain on your feet rather than go to the ground. That with boxing/MT would be extremely effective.
BJJ, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Sambo, Sanda, Judo, Kickboxing, certain styles of Karate and boxing to an extent are all fantastic for the streets.
Judo has better pins than BJJ generally but agree with the rest
Jeez long intro
Ahaha we should have worded that better
I think the same argument you made for wrestling being goat status you can make for BJJ. If your opponent is within reach you can take them down. From there you can control them and tire them out, tie them up and ground and pound or where BJJ has an advantage is the submission game. Also if a BJJ practitioner gets taken down somehow, they are comfortable working off their backs, unlike wrestlers. I agree with most of the list but i would put BJJ up in goat status with MT and wrestling for the same reasons.
I did judo, ju jitsu, kickboxing, pancrase and Mma. In that order. Judo is the basic for each kid, just like wrestling. It helped a lot for the mma later on. Its funny that people that only did kickboxing wont last long in practice for Mma. We didnt see them after one lesson. I live in the Netherlands. Were there is almost no Sambo or Wrestling. I think kickboxing is at a high level over here.
Please dont teach kids to headbutt. Ive damaged my frontal cortex. Broke boards and just random things w my forehead. Stop it please.
JJB & judo & wrestling > muay thai
I’ do wing Chun, literally spar all the time..... what are you talking about
Eu não sei quase nada de artes marciais ou algo do tipo, mas observando algumas lutas, eu acho que Capoeira estaria mais ou menos no World Champion ou Contender
He’s so funny 😂
I don’t know about Sambo being I the hall of fame
They spar in Kung Fu lol
Light sparring exercises or actual pressure testing spar?
@@migBdk both.
@@OceanEggg in some dojos, maybe. In 99% of cases: no. Look up that mediocre, middle aged MMA fighter that fucks up Chinese MA Masters on the regular. His name is Xu
@@BJSepuku xu xiaodong?
that must look funny lol, sparring in that shitty style...
Ok. You drop the enemy on the flor with wrestling but you dont know how to finish him, then, you lost the fight because BJJ dominate it on the floor. For the BJJ the fight starts on the floor
I think it's not one good ranking
no BJJ is top tier GOAT
Yo, in kung fu they actually spar. Why did he say in kung fu they don't spar? I bet he has never seen Donnie Yen clapping Mike Tyson's cheeks
That’s a mf movie 🤣
Yep kung fu is dope
@@MertLDN shtf kung fu is dope
@@user-fz2fp9ng3m yea your right kung fu is for dopes
