Glorious, how lucky you were to experience it in those conditions. Thank you.

Thanks Andrew. All being well I should be taking my wife for her first bikepacking experience on Rum next week. Just hope the weather holds out for us, she’s a bit of a fair weather camper…. 😂

Thank you! I’m actually hoping to get back to Rum next week as I’m heading up for a couple of weeks in Scotland with my wife. A night on Rum will be her first bikepacking experience so hoping for some good weather……….🙏

Awesome sunset and a great video. Rhum is a special place. I visited in 1999 and the castle was open then. Part of it was used as a. hostel. The island has an unusual history, owned by a Lancashire mill owner back in the day. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Graham. Yes, I really like it there too. It has a special feel to it and a lot of history for a small island. Looking forward to going back again at some point. 😁

@@sonjafenwick8151 CALMAC ferry from Mallaig visits Rum, Canna & Eigg, so easy easy to organize. Also there is a small foot ferry (the SHEARWATER) from Arisaig to Eigg, and it goes from Eigg to Muck. Great to do all these Inner Hebrides on one long trip - Enjoy

Shame about the castle. I was there in 1999 and I’m sure there was hosteling at the back of the castle. I camped at Kinloch and I remember it was a complete midgefest!

Hey Graham. We also made the mistake of camping at Kinloch on a previous trip, it was horribly midgie. Definitely better on the northern coasts where there’s a bit more wind. I really like Rum though, it’s an interesting island. Hoping to take my wife over later in the year.
Last time I was there the castle was open but it’s looking a bit sorry for itself these days. Thanks for watching. 😀

@@david-pascoe In the 80's the castle did B&B ( Mrs MacDougal), sleeping in a 4 poster bed !
There were only a temp School teacher, NCC Warden & Assistant Warden with their families plus gardener staying on the Isle. The castle interior is spectacular, shame to see it in such a condition now. The "too wealthy" man who had it built used Sandstone from Arran, not great material for west coast weather, hence the problems with leaks and decay, granite etc would have been better. Still my fav place in Scotland.
