Honestly Green arrow is cool but only after I painted his mask to be more comic accurate and there was some missing paint for the stitches. I really like it now
Currently the toy room, which I call the sanctum, has kind of gone to shambles and my collection has outgrown it, so I'm making a big push next year to move it into a larger space and document the process with videos, and showing all the new display setups.
It's a tricky balance. Reuse is the name of the game in the industry because of how expensive the molds are, but it has to be done strategically. The main issue is they don't have have truly blank bodies, so all the reused Jon Kent's, Blue Beetles, Knightfall Catwomans, etc end up having superfluous details they shouldn't. It's very frustrating.
Painting on the belt? How did this line go from showing Marvel Legends how things should be done, to copying what they were doing YEARS ago at this point.
If there’s one Digital figure that my Walmarts have, it’s Atom He is NOT selling 😅 I also found both Gold Label AC 1000 Supes and the Gold Label metallic Green Lantern last weekend. The green paint is soooo pretty 🤩
I really hope McFarlane won't replace marvel legends, Hasbro's figures look better and McFarlane is a bit stuck in the past, maybe they should all make marvel and DC figures and let us decide what we want
I'd argue that Hasbro is the one Stuck in the past with worse looking figures. They're still using outdated articulation like ab crunches and hinged necks. And most of their figures are unsculpted bland bucks that get reused almost constantly. At least most McFarlane figures have way more sculpted details. And they've been innovating a lot over the years introducing things like sculpted wrist and ankle ball joints. And giving wired cloth capes at the $22 price point. I honestly don't know how Hasbro is the one doing better in your opinion.
@braydenpage1808 respect your opinion but the clothed cape is the only good thing. In this same video the atom has a painted belt and most of the figures can't pose very well. Marvel legends on other hand has it's own disadvantages but they can pose really well and action figures for me is that, posing. As for "stuck in the past" i was referring to pinned joints and the fact that figures come with cards or the fact that you have to hunt down the platinum editions
@@argirisrousis yeah that makes sense. Although pinned joints never have and never will bother me as long as they're the correct color on both sides. And I kinda like the cards, it's a way to get a bio for the figure without it needing to be on the box. The Platinums and chase figures are absolutely something that needs to go. And the plain body are the exception, not the rule. Most figures are either new sculpts or have reused sculpts that are still really good.
@braydenpage1808McFarlane using sculpted details only leads to unnecessary to downright terrible lines and textures for what are meant to “classic designs” because he reuses sculpts
Great video as always Jason! That Green Arrow really catches the eye. If you happen to review the Justice League Task Force wave, it would be nice to compare them with him. If memory serves me well this was the design that was used in the game
Thanks so much! If they weren't going to do cloth, the good could have been separate and move with the head, like the new Revenge of the Sith Emperor. And if the waist has a ball joint cut in like I talked about, there would have been no trouble
Personally, I'd rather the Marvel Legends license go to Jada Toys rather than McFarlane. Don't get me wrong, I'm a McFarlane collector and not a Legends collector at all. I just don't like the idea of one company holding all the franchises (like Disney). Plus I think Jada would do an awesome job with Marvel characters.
The problem i think with a smaller company taking on Marvel or DC is that Jada, while they make good stuff, doesn't have nearly the bandwidth to put out enough figures per year as a company like Hasbro or McFarlane does. Quality over quantity is one thing, but if you want anything but the most popular characters in circulation, you want a Hasbro or McFarlane with the liscece for Marvel and DC. Jada is making great figures, but they need to put out more and more frequently before they can get trusted with a big liscence
I may do a video on this, I dunno, BUT if the two companies were to swap licenses, the plus side would be McFarlane scale and style Marvel figures to mingle amongst the DC Multiverse, and Hasbro style DC to mix and match with Marvel Legends, opening a LOT of opportunities for display and figure photography. Here's hoping if the rumors are true that both companies fill out the necessary teams/lines over the next two years.
The fact that the DC Icons figure of this exact Green Arrow has better accessories and better paint by a mile and came out several years ago tells you all you need to know about these modern big companies.
Great review, it's cool that the slender Blue Beetle body was used for Atom, does anyone know what other figures it was used for, from what I can tell Booster Gold and maybe Red Tornado.

good review, don't know much about Green Arrow or the Atom only watched most of Justice league unlimited for the first time. Still not sure about this digital stuff
Not interested in the Page Punchers version of Reeve. I don't like Cel Shading. But you I have preordered the movie version from a few places just to make sure I get it ASAP. As for Batman/Spawn, that's a Platinum so it all comes down to it if I can one. Can't promise I'll be able to review him. Fingers crossed though!
McFarlane Toys Digital is a sub line that seems to encompass all their brands, but has mostly just focused on DC so far. They are figures that include cards with codes to redeem online for digital versions of the figures, which you can display in an online showroom. Think of it like collecting skins in a video game, except there are a limited number of codes per figure, so it's like an NFT. A limited edition digital thing.
@5POAFigureReviews Wait...are you telling me the future of action figures is 'virtual'!?!?. Like a bar code purchase will get you the equivalent of an online action figure?
It’s already annoying to me when figures don’t come with two fists but it stings especially with Atom since he can’t even replicate the pose of his miniature self because of it
My collection has outgrown the room, so the whole thing is kind of in shambles. I'm planning on moving it into a larger room next year and documenting the process with videos showing off all the new displays
There have been rumours going around that Hasbro was about to quit the action figure business and the Marvel Legends line would go to McFarlane toys. It turns out it's not true though since Hasbro have confirmed they'll still be making Legends until at least the end of 2026. There are also rumours that McFarlane toys may be about to lose the DC licence, but there's no official word one way or the other yet.
@Steamj2 yeah, McFarlane figures have taken a huge nosedive in quality in the past few years. The Stranger Things and Harry Potter figures were great, but most of the DC stuff is really disappointing.
Pretty much! Though there are multiple configurations/versions from over the years to consider. I still want/need Red Arrow, Black Canary, Hawkgirk, and Vixen before I am completely satisfied. And don't get me started on Justice League International.
Dear God, please don’t let McFarlane get the Marvel license.
I hope he does. It would become one less line I would collect at that point, and my wallet would get a break. :D
@ 😂😂😂 I hear you!!
JUst wish they would do the 70s green arrow.

Yep! Was actually a pretty decent line too
Great review as always. But what did you mean by the Marvel Legends rumors?

I think if they sculpted more of Ollie’s hair we could get a bronze age Ollie sooner since his hair under the hood is kinda smooth

I keep seeing these at the Walmarts near me. Green Arrow just looks too small. I hate that they used Inigo Montoya's body.
However....
He does look pretty good with the Silver Age Green Lantern... Hmmmmm.
Is the lume blue or green? The video shows both.
