"Small-leaf red sandalwood inlaid with silver, with dimensions of 5cm × 2cm × 1cm and a 1.3mm-thick inlay of 999 silver.
In the I Ching (Book of Changes), there are 64 hexagrams, and among them, the texts describing 63 of the hexagrams contain a mix of auspicious and inauspicious elements. Only one hexagram is truly unique, as all six lines of its text are entirely auspicious. This hexagram is called Earth Over Mountain Humility (Dì Shān Qiān), or simply the Humility Hexagram (Qiān Guà). Its configuration is Kun above and Gen below: Kun represents Earth, while Gen represents Mountain.
A tall mountain lying beneath flat ground symbolizes being full within like a mountain but appearing outwardly flat, embodying the image of a valley concealing jade and the attitude of handling matters with humility. It signifies achieving success without arrogance and maintaining honor without flaunting it. This is humility. A truly humble person is self-disciplined and modest, avoiding envy and earning deep respect instead.
The I Ching states: The way of Heaven reduces what is full and benefits what is humble. This teaches us that the principle of Heaven diminishes excess and rewards humility. Thus, when we achieve something yet remain humble, it is considered an auspicious state that often allows us to carry even greater blessings.
