- This is a video on how to install a Ebay turbo kit on your 92-95 civic. We will show step by step how to install and all the main parts you need. Don't forget you will still need a high performance fuel pump and injectors to get a proper tune. Hope everybody enjoys my vid, and thank you.
Thank you very much for this step by step vid. It really does help anyone who is looking at turboing any sort of motor because I believe the basic principles will be transferable. Thanks again.
David Sussens thanks a lot for the good feedback means a lot
hey guys I really appreciate your video, I'm doing a turbo on my 96 hatchback next month. you have the only video I've seen on you tube that actually shows every step by step part. Thank you so much I truly appreciate it have a good day
No problem any questions just ask
i can help too
JTM Racing hi I have a 05 Civic and I would like to if I can swap the old intake manifold for one from a d15b would it actually fit in my civic? That engine is similar to mine
I mean you can it takes a lot of fab work and sometime I don't know if you would gain any power from it. Why do you want to do that swap ?
I never did a Honda before but this is the most helpful video I seen so far ...👍👍👍👍👍.
Thanks bro if you have any questions just ask
That fitting inside your oil pan is enormous
rodney Carr lol yeah I know
I've done a little research on vtec because mine is also not functioning properly. But anyway it uses oil pressure to push pins into place that activate the center wheel on the cam and earlier you said you had a little sludge in your motor it might be possible that your pins are stuck in place and not able to move when vtec is activated.
The entire car is eBay as fuck! 😂
Reminds me of my first build, back in high school when I thought I was Paul Walker
A trick: watch series at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Emerson Wilson yea, been watching on flixzone for since november myself :D
great video!! I tried making one last year since no one really has a good one. your video is a perfect d.i.y. one.good luck with ur build.
jdm G-baby thanks I really appreciate the good feedback
cool video. I like how you explained everything, some things other people missed to explain.
keep it up and update us!
Red Panda Thanks man really appreciate it new videos coming soon
just right now, my friend gave me his garrett off his saab 9-3 and intercooler. it has holes for water cooling. would I need to run that still or would I be able to cover it??
Red Panda if your turbo doesn't have a coolant fitting yeah just cap or plug coolant lines on the intercooler you should be fine
I have a d16 civic like yours. Just plug it? No harm done??
Red Panda you should be good as long as that garret turbo doesn't require it
good job i hate to heckle you but that oil drain line shorten it up a half a inch or so to take that uprise out of it free flow down other than that for what you have awesome job man!!
jonny v thanks yeah your right man I need to fix my drain line for better flow that's been the issue lately
lol I saw the turbo cap and I was like he's going to forget it😂😂
Varrohs I've done it multiple times lol
Me too😂😂😂😂😂
Same haha 😁 good effort tho
Same
this is an awesome vid man love how the turbo isnt hacked at all!
ghostshot12349 thanks a lot for the good feedback
Diy Ebay turbos FTW 🙌🏻
It's a Stu yessir lol
Is the video laggy for anybody else? Other than that... great vid man thanks for the help
Thank you for making this video it means a lot to me I just acquired a 98 Civic e x single overhead cam VTEC? But now I see that there's hope to make a go a lot faster
keep up the good work mate! need more updates on the civic
Jess Brown a lot of people want some updates on the civic so they will be coming soon I promise
i know if i do this to my car it wont be very fast still. but it would be an awesome learning experience and a great first project.
What kind of car would you be boosting?
@@jtmracing2986 little 95 civic lx. yeah yeah im boosting a 4 door.
@@possibleproblem479 Mines a sedan as well do it bro!!!
@@jtmracing2986 for sure. lx badge will be the icing on the cake if i decide build out internals in the future.
@@possibleproblem479 Hell yeah that's the beauty of it!
Ya wen I get the money imma go to bisimoto n order a d15b turbo cam new valves , springs titanium retainers low comp wisco piston with eagle rods I already have arp head studs a bigger turbo gonna get a gsr trans cuz once u make bout 600hp d series trans start breaking
christopher baudoin good shit man u should do some vids on it
92 d15b turbo civic I hope your gonna sleeve the block if your going for 600hp bro.
Good job man I'm glad to see some of us stick with the single slammers I have a d15b7 I want to put a Greddy turbo kit on so I can keep my ac n power steering and eventually get some Brian crower rods n make it nice n scrong lol
angelogotrice thanks man definitely save the sohc lol if you do that build would love to see some video footage I'm all about the dseries
Most def will I truly fell in love when I was trying to blow mine up just to put in a dohc but I was beating the b18 integras with wrapped dc sports ceram coated 4-2-1 headers and exhaust thicker wires a short ram intake with a truck air filter on the tip and royal purple in the trans and engine I was loving it from then on
The best way to know if you're getting v tec. Is ride down the road in 2nd then let the tach slowly climb if it's working there will be a spot around 4.5 rpm that it will kick in you will know. You can be at 4.4 then when you hit 4.5 it will instantly feel like boost. Also most of the time in my experience if the vtec dont work. The tach want red line. It usley stops short.
That's a badass Manifold
Nathan Telles thanks man
Where did you get the manifold ?
the little raiders tool box 😭 thats fire
vtec solenoild is mechanically bad bro. if it activates and you have no performance response, the solenoid is sticking.
Sean Sullivan thanks bro for the info
Sean Sullivan very common if I've runs dirty oil or clogged. It's activated by oil pressure so if your pressure is low then no it won't work. Or sending unit
The oil pressure switch isn’t plugged in, that’s why vtec won’t engage
It feels fast but it feels kinds slow.
Every Honda LMAO
Get rid of the boost controller. Stock waste gate should only put out 5-7psi. The boost controller usually cause leaks anyways from ebay. Look for leaks at the piping with soapy water. You need two step cooler spark plugs or you'll melt the factory plugs. You should get the car tuned asap. You'll need a management system. Injectors and fuel pump with aftermarket fuel regulator would be smart. An aftermarket boost guage would help to monitor over target boost. Do it right or be prepared to have a sitting car for a long time. GL
Modfyd Inc thanks a lot for all the info really helps a lot
Modfyd Inc what management system do you think would be best
JTM Racing go to phearable.net you can get a basemap for $250.
Sevilai Vang thanks a lot for all the info really helps
An engine mngmt/dyno tune are crucial for sure kinda goes without saying cause I'm pretty sure most people know that. All that other aftermarket fuel pump blah blah thats debatable
Pour a little Sea foam in your oil and it will clean most of that sludge up. Then pour a little in your gas also. Sea foam does wounders for your engine.
Really nice build dude, are you planning on getting engine management and uprated injectors & fuel pump at some point? How much boost will the d15 hold without forged rods and pistons? Any clutch slip yet?
MrJmak223 yeah that's my plan clutch is holding up fine I am running a stage 3 6 puck clutch though lol and I would say 8 psi would be the max you would wanna run so I'm gonna run probably 6 psi
Keep up the great video man! 30 min too short lol!! I noticed on your car that you didn't have the air conditioning unit. No need for it anyway aye when you have boost!!haha!!
HondaRoadk1l thanks man yeah no a.c. just racecar lol
PB Blaster works so much better than wd40, keroil works good too!
Chris Hill yeah my buddy Carlos uses PB blaster it works pretty damn good
i can't wait to see a vid of it ripping.
yeah should be pretty sick but i think im gonna have to do a rebuild i tried starting it the other day and it sounded like it had no compression at all
@@jtmracing2986 vitara build make some good power.
@@armdrop1oh177 thats what i was thinking myself
"Getting it done right" with the eBay parts lol classic
I understand thats 2 different engines but what do u mean a d15b vtec is 210hp stock if it's boosted yeah but stock there about 135hp
I don't want to sound stupid but I'm new to this stuff. I have a stock D15B7 in my 93 DX coupe and I'm aware that swapping to a B or K series is what many ppl do, but due to my budget what are some things I should do to Increase performance for my d15b7? Just trying to start somewhere
Any bolt on mods like a intake, exhaust, etc. Maybe even boost her!
im having good luck with mine
so do i I've seen so many n it's awesome wat they come out to be I even made a couple things myself
christopher baudoin that's the fun of it customizing things
Nice ! Thank you bro ... I hv the same motor as you in a factory midori green ek9 ... tempted to hit up ebay for that shit ....
James Jensen I'm happy with it man there's nothing like being boosted as long as everything is done right pump injectors tune etc. definitely get more power and this setup would be sick on a ek9 I love that type of green to one of my favorite colors
Oh thanks for saying that lol ya its ok i guess for a while... it drew so much attention i really got sick of that.. Its sat for 8 years the other day I fired it right up first try ... Ill hv to do a compression test on it might not be the best d15b to use for this now because its sat for so long ... but ya i hear the d15b gets more gains than any honda motor.... How many miles are on your car with that ebay turbo now ? How much hp do u figure it is ?
James Jensen I have about 80k on the motor it was a fresh jdm swap after I'm tuned should be around 200hp hopefully
about to do my 99 ex. d15b vtec obd2. wouldnt go above 8 lbs of boost on stock inters.
i got a decent turbo kit off ebay speeddaddys!
lmao no such thing as a decent turbo on ebay
@@jacobanderson6437 WRONG!!! I ran one for years with 0 problems.
A M yea and u drive like a 90 yr old nana?. Either that’s or ur just lucky. eBay turbos are made out of shit metal
That sandwich plate is meant to be loose so your filter will push it together. Mine was loose too. It doesn't leak
Brendan Klahn which plate are you talking about exactly
The oil pan sandwich plate.
Brendan Klahn the adapter that screws on first to put the sandwich plate on wouldn't let it sit flush against the block they have that issue with a lot of the ones off ebay
Yea mine got pushed on and sealed after I tightened after I put the filter on. It doesn't leak. I was just letting you know. Maybe yours is different but I had somewhat the same problem
Brendan Klahn yeah thanks man I do appreciate the info just to let other people know if they have issues with theirs I'm pretty sure mine was just garbage quality lol
dude great video! I'm excited to see that thing run! pretty cool how you fabricated the different parts that didn't fit. any plans to wrap some of that exhaust piping to keep temps down?
Thank you man yeah I will probably wrap the manifold and get a turbo blanket but I'm going to put a fuel pump next and some 450cc injectors with a tune
Smart man. Any plans for methonal? Or e85?
Not really yet but will see will be running 5-8 psi then do a full build internal and turn up the boost
Do they sell e85 around you?
Yeah they have a couple gas stations here and there with e85
Learn a lot...thanx👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
tyrell williams Thanks bro if you have any questions let me know
Ohk kl...and many thanx
If your speedo senser isnt working then your vtec wont engage so if your speedometer isnt working, try replacing that, my vtec wasnt working cuz of that reason so hopefully that helps
thanks man for the info i figured it out though i had a short in my vtec pressure switch wiring harness jump the ecu and vtec kicked right in at 4800 rpms
If u drill the. oil pan up high, it would reason that u would be sacking air instead of oil.i would drill it down lower so it would be submerged in oil.
D.j. B if you drill under the oil line oil will back up into the turbo you want it free flowing into the pan
Loose bov, that's going to cause a major boost leak. I'd buy a different flange preferably with a c clip to hold it on tight. That entire intake pipe and bov releases preasure from the intake so if its loose and leaking air you won't be able to build up boost.
Great video learned alot!
Raymond Grell thanks dude
On the waste gate where do you put that ring when bolting it to the manifold
Yup pretty much but it's a loud sleeper 2.5 inch exhaust from the turbo back
christopher baudoin yeah mine's pretty loud to 2.5 inch cutback and I took all the sound deadner out of the muffler lol
Now this is xtra cool homie
Jeffrey Gomez thanks bro
Liked the video enough to give you a 1000th subscriber
Daniel Haas thanks man
not a problem ive got a 91 hatch that ive been working on for 2 &1/2 years and i just appreciate the progress your making keep up the good work man i do have some questions though if you get a chance theres a antilag item thats rather cheap and im kinda hesitant on buying it was wondering what you thought
Daniel Haas what is it exactly do u have a link you can post
its called a WOT Box and its by n2mb you can check it out here at there website: www.n2mb.com
Daniel Haas I mean it seems pretty legit the only time I've heard of no lift shift was when the cobalt ss turbo came out so I'm curious how that works on a transmission not designed for it but shit why not try it but if your wanting the 2 step feature you can get that tuned on your ecu
29:00 dude you started it with the cap on the cold side of the turbo haha
Peter Armour I know right definitely felt stupid lol but it happens
Lol I called that shit from the beginning when I saw that 😭💀
Nice work..made it look easy.
Loved your video! I'm trying to get visuals of what I need to do as well. So far I picked up t4 turbo and manifold together for 100 bucks with no shaft play 10k miles on it. How many days did it take you? I plan on taking a week off work so I can have time
Jeremy Dunn you could definitely do a turbo setup like this in a week just takes some time to line everything up for the first time I could make u a list of parts if that helps
JTM Racing yes please that would help a lot
Jeremy Dunn
List:
wastegate
bov (not necessary)
vacuum line
oil feed line
oil drain line
boost controller (not necessary)
downpipe
dump pipe
intercooler
intercooler piping
hose clamps
oil pan brass fitting
brass fittings for turbo
fuel pump
injectors
tune
that should be most of it watch my video of me installing the turbo kit
nice good job man
951CD5accord thanks man
I can't believe that the downpipe even remotely fit. I have never had good luck with those eBay downpipes. It doesn't exactly line up with the cat-back, but it's pretty damn close. Yeah, it's low, but it fits decently. Mine would always hit the oil pan.
yeah its a close fit surprisingly but its about 3 inches to low so i need to chop it and reweld it to fit
Great job.
I want that raiders tool box.
Lil Skeet walgreens lol
@@jtmracing2986 lol I live on the east coast so whenever you find cool shit like that. They have it in Steelers and sum other shit teams. Sure I can find that bad boy on Amazon and get one for me my pops and brothers. Lol thanks brother
It's idling too high cause it's on limp mode due to CEL light is on if im not mistaken. There could be faulty sensors... p.s. how much did it cost for the whole kit?
Chris Labago I also have a bad iacv I think that's what's causing it the car did this before I had a cel but my kit I pieced together it probably cost $1100 all together
How much u spend on kit a link if u have bro would appreciate it thanks
And did u tune ecu??? Just wondering want to put a turbo but I need some pointers ??
Fernando Gonzalez I pieced the turbo kit together so all the parts came from different sellers on eBay it probably cost me all together $900 I'm not tuned yet but will be soon
JTM Racing loved the vid man where's the follow up tho? can't wait to see it tune and running right. vtec n all
Dan Fuentes hopefully soon man video will be coming soon
great detailed vid
Can you send a link to the same exact turbo kit
BodegaDan 203 I don't have a link it's from eBay the seller is speeddaddy if that helps
Any update on the car? did the motor blow? Also curious to know about any internal parts you may have upgraded before the turbo. for example, better pistons, arp studs, ect
@bris Evans reading through comments he said all internals are stock
What's your motors status if you will? Mileage? All stock ? Sorry if you said it in the video and I just didn't catch on.. Very helpful vid btw
Reckless Duner All stock internal motor probably has around 90k on it because it was idk swap
If you bring your tools
Closer
To your car you won’t have to walk back and forth so much lol
LIKED AND SUBBED - DUDE WHO ARE YOU
I want to see a video update please.
Konichiwa B-series soon hopefully I will post some new videos with updates on the civic
I have to exact same car and was wondering which exact kit and brand you got for this car
Did you change the internals and retune the ecu? I suddenly wanted to boost my D15 EK after watching your video lol
no it has all stock internals im only gonna run 5-8 psi and I still need to get a tune
you do not need a high performance fuel pump. factory fuel pump will push 440cc injectors just fine. my d15b on 12psi made 231 whp with stock fuel pump and a great tune
Calvin Dyals no shit handles it just fine huh
JTM Racing yes. all i did was just injectors and a shit ton of tuning for my turbo set up.
Calvin Dyals good shit man how much did the tune run you
Looks pretty good how is that eBay manifold holding up?
great job...looks good
Hey nice video. How is your car currently running? I know turbo stresses the engine but how is your engine holding so far? I have a jdm d15b too and am considering to turbo it as well. I wanna get as much information as possible before i get on it. Please let me know! Thanks.
Jerry Yang Yeah there's definitely a lot of info to know lol. The car is running great though just needs a few more upgrades and tune to be safe to drive. Upgrades meaning aftermarket fuel pump, injectors, and a basemap at least. What do you need to know exactly ? More than happy to help with any questions.
JTM Racing im just wondering bc im afraid that my engine wont hold all that stress especially on stock internals. Thats all. Im planning to take it to my tuner once the kit is installed. My engine is fairly new so i think it should be fine if you say so.
Jerry Yang I mean of course upgraded internals are a lot safer and a lot stronger than stock pistons and rods but it should hold up for quite a while. It also depends on how you drive your car and how much boost your running I would run 8 psi max.
JTM Racing so i heard people say that you should drill the hole to the lower part of oil pan, but saw you drill it on the upper part. Can you tell me which one is the proper area to make the hole?
Jerry Yang I would go in the middle of the pan you wanna be right above oil level I did drill to high and I had oil backing up into the turbo because it wasn't draining properly
Not sure if my cars running right so I'm going to throw a turbo on to fix it.
Jakob Ruffinen nice way to complicate/hide your problem. good luck
Can you send a parts list of all the required parts?
SP3CT0R I will make a video going over what you need to boost your car
JTM Racing Ok 👍 will look out for it
Good move on not going with the sandwich oil fillet piece. A friend of mine bought a cheap kit from ebay and the brass thing in the middle loosened up and his oil filter came off. Luckily he shut it off before it blew up.
blindabinda123 I agree man I'm happy with the route I went with
JTM Racing yea that's the best way if you ask me. Did you have to reduce the oil pressure going to the turbo? I know a lot of times if it's getting more than 30 psi the oil will blow by into the housings
Can you tell me every part that I’m gonna need?
Can be your vtec not working if you have a stock cat that’s clogged.
Why not cut the rest of the threads for the sandwich block?
hi i have civic 1.8 vt 2007 model wanted to add turbo kit do you have any videos
Hyder Ali sounds like fun unfortunately I do not have any videos on that exact model should be some what easy I would think
I wanted to install turbo kit where do you suggest to buy any sites do you suggest me
Hyder Ali off the top of my head no but you can try eBay or just Google search your make model year with turbo kit there has to be info on it somewhere
Good video but 120 lbs on the pan bolts seams a little high doesn't it?
Cool video,I was wondering what distributor are you using on that D15B ?
Thx!!! I'm just running the stock d15b distributor
If you ever did it try to run a wire to the actual ecu. That’s what I had to do
Royal Garage yeah I got it to work there's a break somewhere in my harness I jump the 2 main wires to bypass the pressure switch and vtec kicks now thanks for the help though
You need to check your ecu and your electronic connections
What about the tune? Who did you go with to flash the computer, or is there a program you used that works?
All it has right now is a basemap from hamotorsports still needs a proper tune but actually runs pretty decent surprisingly but will get a legit tune hopefully soon
Does Honda Bond also fit my Subaru? Seems to be pretty specific goop...
I'm in middle of puttin my on what will happen if I run it with out run on low psi
no oil resistor in the turbo or is that fitting the oil resistant
b.p salvage/Busy B customs no oil resistor at all haven't had any problems though so I'm not gonna run one
It's a d15, you would hold much power with those rods, if your single cam dedicated then get a d16z6, if you want a good Honda build that makes decent power for cheap get a b18b and put a vtec head from a b16, add head studs and a turbo kit, then you should be good for 300-320 whp for stupid cheap
Theres only one other d series better than a jdm d15b it could be the one your beaking off about although i think it ends in a y8 don't know for sure which one it is for but d15b is the second best d series... the extra .1 of the single cams is insignificant as it 130 hp at the crank ...The d15b is a wicked motor that can handle boost on its internals better than most honda motors.
Bro is there any way you can put back the A/C? with the turbo is there a way? What to do
You cant run AC with this kit you would need a totally different kit.
Where does the s.r.p box go
Do you have the right ecu? I had some problems with my d15b hitting vtec from bad ecus.
Yeah I'm running the right ecu, it ran great for the longest time when I did the swap but now I can't figure out why it's throwing a code
JTM Racing what ecu do you use, I have same motor 3 stage vtec
eddies2kturbo I'm running a p06 flashed to a p28
JTM Racing thanks
eddies2kturbo no problem
What the turbo is called and if you had a link from where you bought it
Oh never mind you did it
What do u hook boost control to on other side
Not sure if you said it or not, but did you rebuild the engine for the turbo?
Bansimbolism no sure stock jdm block
Any updates on the civic and thanks for the vid
Andrea A will be posting some real soon
Never happend lol
Make more vids on this setup
NEVER trust a guy who’s garage is the public street.
Have long have you been a mechanic for
Wouldn't say im a mechanic or anything, but I've been working on cars for over 15 years easily.
You never use Hondabond on a steel pan gasket. It goes on dry! The seal will squish out and leak.
Sean Reynolds i was using a rubber felpro gasket i need to go to honda though they never seal right oem is the only way to go
what size turbo is it? thats sick i wanna do the same thing to my 99 ex d15b vtec.
C Stone I'm running a 55 trim it's pretty big
C Stone jtm racing if u guys wanna see pix follow me on Instagram d15b_civic I've spent over 6k from wen I first bout it 2yrs ago I've done everything from starting to build my old d15b7 n blowing it to wat i have now
christopher baudoin I definitely will
So you're putting a turbo on with worn oil rings? Was considering a turbo until I noticed my rings are a bit worn. Only smokes when I get on it hard but I blow oil into the intake. I have a y8
FroztiProductions yeah I'm not to worried about it if the engine blows up it blows up lol I will just build a badass sohc with stronger internals
JTM Racing That's my plan, too! Once the garage is cleared I'll pick one up. Do you plan on doing a build video?
FroztiProductions definitely will do a build video
Sweet.
Jered Housel thanks man
