I watch your trek every morning before I go off to work - it has helped me get through a couple of tough weeks. Mind is a charity close to my heart, thank you for choosing it!
Those bogs looked like hard work,as you said, best way is through them(not around them). So good that you had Lisa turning up now and again to boost your morale and having someone to accompany you on some of the days walking also good. By this stage of the walk you're really "on top of it" for sure.
Just wanted to say it's not selfish of you at all. Just being able to see the beautiful countryside every day is really wonderful for us. This is the highlight of my day. . By the way I popped out today to get some hobnobs. Wow, they were yummy.
Dean. "I have a cunning plan..." You could turn around at Kirk Yetholm and do the return leg... PW north to south. That way we wont have to go cold turkey after Saturday's episode of the 'Hobnob Bog Slog' Seriously, what are we to do without these to look forward to every morning!? I'm going to stock up on Hobnobs to help me through the withdrawal... :-)
Just bought the Cicerone book on Walking the Pennine Way and following the route you are taking, Dean, very interesting trying to pick up the various landmarks on the book's maps. Off to Tenerife in the morning so WiFi pending, will still be watching daily. Keep going.
What a great adventure! Really enjoying your truly inspiring videos each day and comparing the weather (and bog) conditions with when I did the same trek in 2017. Boggiest section yet to come I'm afraid but I'm sure you'll get through it. Good luck! ... and by the way, Hobnobs are great, but my snack of choice on a long walk is a Tunnock's caramel wafer. You will see one on your last day - watch out for it!!
This was definitely one of the hardest days on my Pennine way walk. Those bogs just keep on going. Glad your keeping your spirits up. Great work. Keep on plodding
I've just found these but they're really useful as I'm hoping to walk the PW in July and they give a great idea of the sort of terrain to expect- thanks so much
looking like you've nailed it mate your making it look far to easy . makes a big difference when things just fall into place like weather etc & not forgetting the backup crew of course. will be interesting to see if you do byrness to kirk yetholm in one go as your not carrying any wildcamping kit. best of luck.
Actually if you get old fashion high ankle walking boots and dubbin them up regularly, they don't get wet at all as long as you don't wade in a foot deep stream. My feet were dry the whole time using cheapo leather boots and that included my socks. They also provided added support for your ankles when walking on rocking rocks.
I'm a convert to trail shoes these days as I do much more running than walking. I used to swear by leather boots but much prefer trail shoes as they are lighter and dry much quicker if they get wet. My leather boots got wet on a walk across Scotland and didn't properly dry out for a week :-) It is most definitely personal preference though and what works for me won't be everyone's first choice, I respect that.
Loving the journey Dean. Interesting you decided you'd get wet feet even with waterproof boots so went for what would dry out. What about socks though? Waterproof Sealskinz or just get wet?
Hi Preston, thanks for watching. I just had my normal trail running socks and the trail shoes dry really quickly. Easier just to get wet and allow my feet to air during food/drink breaks :-) Good in summer but obviously it's a different story in other seasons.
Cracking days walking dean enjoying every minute keep it going your making it look so easy all that training has paid off see you tomorrow same place same time 😂😂😂atvb jimmy 😎 😎
Hey Dean, really inspirational videos mate, well done 👍 just having been on the pennine way - had to sack it off due to heatwave ( didn’t wanna kill my dog). My question is trail shoes ??? I suffered a lot of blisters using Scarpa trail shoes-any advice mate
Hi Mark, thanks for watching. I bet it was disgusting walking it in this heat, I'd have postponed it too. As for trail shoes, I haven't tried the Scarpa ones myself but I'd always advise going for a dedicated running trail shoe. I've used Inov-8 and find them to be excellent, it all depends on your foot size/shape. I have some Saucony Xodus Ultra trail shoes at the moment and they've been great too, I used them for the Montane Summer Spine Challenger Race in May. The shoes I wear in this video are ASICS Fujitrabuco and they were great too.
G'day Dean, great video and what looked like a "fantastic" day for you, except for the bog!!. Can you please tell us what rucksack you are carrying. Thank you .... Garry
Great stuff, keep it up. I like to think we inspired you to give it a go again as me and my mate met you wildcamping on Kinder a year ago when we were starting our first stage :) #teamhobnob
Hi dean, planning on doing the penine way in the immediate future... how much did it cost for accomodation across all the air bnbs // accomodation spots? Thank you
Hi mate, thanks for watching. Check out the link in the description of my final Pennine Way video. It has links to accomodation with prices, also daily distance and acsent. It could come in very handy :-) all the best
Don't what ever you do get to Hadrians Wall and forget you're supposed to be doing The Peninne Way and not the Hadrians Wall route and get to Newcastle before that "oh B****r" moment hits :)

Love watching this trek with my cup of tea and a hob nob
Loving your work brother, it's rare to watch anything on UA-cam that has no thumb's down look's like you've nailed it.
Never fear... The haters will arrive before long haha 😂 Good luck to them. Thanks for watching 👍

Another great blog(or is that bog!) Dean. I’m now taking chocolate hob nobs on my hikes. Not had then for years but they’re delicious,
Well done so far Dean.

Another day down Dean. I am looking forward to Day 13 on the Wall. Del
Looks like one of the trickiest routes today for navigation by the videos

@@DeanRead cheers mate, yep it was nuclear ( would have totally crisped a ginger 🤣😜😜😜)
It would mate 🤣
Cracking job so far! Are you using Seal skinz/ waterproof socks at all?
Can you throw a tent up on the land to spend a night? Or is it all private property? Thanks
G'day Dean, great video and what looked like a "fantastic" day for you, except for the bog!!. Can you please tell us what rucksack you are carrying. Thank you .... Garry
Great stuff. Those little viaducts remind me of the ones at Buxton.
thanks for the boggy video..it was a bit of a slog...keep your head up mate..not long till you finish...well done !
Thanks
Well done mate

Embrace the bog ...lol. Was today anything like crossing the kinder plateau?

Congrats is day 12 Wow you inspiring me
Good morning mate bit early to be watching UA-cam 6 am,
But why not 😂😂😂😂
Can’t you transfer a few files at a time throughout the day at dinner stops etc? So then there’s not so many to transfer at night.
Another great video Dean thanks for all your time. Glad we got to watch this before we set out, I've changed my footwear! Hi Lisa😄

Awesome day
Another great day, bar the bogs obviously. Are you wearing Seal Skin Socks?
Instead of trying to guess sheep numbers maybe trying to guess how many bogs you walked/splashed through. :)
For getting your hands dirty, or should we say feet, you deserve to complete the Pennine Way!
We thought this was a tough day. Not enough rewards for the effort expended.😂M&J
Bogs of doom 😂
Haha they certainly are
Never understood the problem women have with socks.
