Pennine Way 2019 - Day 13 - Greenhead to Bellingham

- Day 13 on the Pennine Way was perhaps one of my favourite days so far. I was joined again by my friend Dale and we walked from Greenhead along Hadrian's Wall to the iconic Sycamore Gap. Dale and I parted company when the Pennine Way left the wall. It was then a long slog through forest, bogs and moorland to Bellingham.

The internet and social media get a lot of very negative press and rightly so in certain ways, but this is where it works positively. To see a normal down to earth nice guy like you Deano collecting for a very important charity is great to hear, and the amount collected in such a short time is brilliant. I will be adding my donation later today. Great cause buddy. Have a great days walk and keep smiling my internet friend 👍 #teamhobnob
You are so lucky to be able to do the walks you do. i watch all the walks you do more than once im walking with you in a way. used to walk a lot myself but due to ill health can no longer walk far now so a big thumbs up for more vids dean. made me laugh as you said this terrain is very undulating your friend said it has its ups and downs.
Great having a bit of banter with your mate Dale, picture at Sycamore Gap..brilliant. You are much more than "just a Ginger out for a walk",you're a truly inspirational character ! As for the Honesty Shop WOW...that was fabulous (I thought you must have taken a turn for the worst when you donated the packet of Hobnobs). Fantastic area to spend a day walking. Nearly there now!
Thank you for your kind words. It was a real boost having Dale along, he's such a nice chap. Thanks for continuing to watch the adventure 👍😎
That honesty shop must be the best honesty shop I seen on a UK hike. Sorry to hear the usb did not work thought would as worked with my gopro7 on the pixel phone. You must be just day head me for the Cheviots I cross that part the Pennine way on my English Scottish border hike. Well done on raising all that money for the charity. You almost done it now. Best of luck Richard
Fantastic walk dean love watching your adventure over breakfast. Remember if you want to continue walking, Scotland’s national trail begins where pinene way ends and goes all the way to cape wrath in north west Scotland. Another 30 days walking😃
Hi there Dean, what a big day for you, we are all behind you mate. Cheers ... Garry
Wish I was there too Dean. After the 1st 10 in10 I walked the Steel Rigg section so I was nice to see that bit again 👌. There will be no stopping you now to reach the end.
Amazing amount of money raised given that you only set up the page half way through the walk.
Oh and cheers for the mention 👋
Hi. Enjoying the series. Have been looking forward to this section because of watching your Hadrian's Wall series in 2014. What wonderful scenery! Regarding the difficulty of following the trail through the moors, I suggest they do what I've seen on the Appalachian Trail - Put a post or large rock within sigh of each other with a marking indicating the official way. That is an easy and cheap solution. Because this is an isolated area, there would be little chance of vandalism. Your thought?
Looking forward to finishing this series of your walk. Thanks!
Well done, Dean. 👍
That was a surreal moment there when you were talking to Ben, as I met him last year when I was in Edale. He works the bar at The Rambler Inn. He's a good guy.
Thanks Dean for showing us the amazing scenery along Hadrian's Wall. Definitely a well-earned rest for you.
I love that part of Hadrian's wall, beautiful landscapes.
Well done dean one of my favourite places to camp Bellingham I stayed in that place about 5 years ago it's a cracking place food is great the just giving page is doing fantastic well done not long to the finish line atvb Jimmy 😎😎
Great video mate..well done and it was a really nice day for you...keep on rolling mate !
You are a machine!! Well done getting through such a long day. Murray will replenish the #TeamHobNob's.
Beautiful scenery up on Hadrian’s Wall. You started in the same place we did a few years ago, with the little shop and defibrillator in the car park. Nice to see that part of the country again.
Fantastic to see how high the donations are!
I have always dreamt if doing the Pennine Way but unfortunately I don't like Hobnobs, what if I took Custard Creams?
Errrr... I'm not sure. I don't think the weather would be as good, I'm not 100% sure what would happen to be honest. On your head be it 😂 Thanks for watching Malc
@@DeanRead Nice one.. Whish I was doing it with you I'm sooo jealous. As a fellow Ginger good look for the last day.
Look to the left this as been my UA-cam picture for a couple years. Love that part of the walk. 👍
+1 for "Coming Home" 😁 And of course "they brought us the aqueduct" ☝️
Thanks for inviting me to join you on a couple of your walks was a good laugh 👍, sorry it took so long to comment on here I've only just found where the comments are 😂 long live team Hobnob 😁

Well done mate ! I did it the other month in just under 13days in a bivvy, trainers and shorts. Was amazing. Did a couple of nights in hostels but other than that was in that bivvy bag. If I had the time and money (and new trainers) I woulda loved to have done it North to South after that. Doing The Great Chalk Way next year which looks interesting, along with Offas Dyke path. Seen your 'White To Dark Way' vid and gonna try and fit it in this year somehow in a long day. Cheers.
Thanks Tommy, it was a great adventure. Would love to go back and do it North to South at some point
Great work man. And what a walk!
Cracking vid Dean. Can almost see the finish line 👍👍
looked like a long shift that's good mileage.its a great story behind hornystead.i often pop in on my winter walks for a brew. I think them hobnobs will be well gone by my next visit.cheviots here you come atb.
Loving the daily videos. A real treat for us to follow along. I think the viewranger track is private so the link isn't working...
For future reference horses LOVE extra strong mints!
It’s a great place up there I was up at the wall last year to see the sycamore gap
It's definitely an iconic location. Thanks for watching Darren
My thumbs up is for "Going Home"! But it didn't make your top five... Top ten?
Great stuff Dean.
nearlly there been routing for you all the way good luck
Oh....no water in this one...never seen the walk
Dean tried for two night to drop a donation with no luck, has the link closed.
Hi Marty, thanks for watching. Just checked the donation page and it's still live 👍
Do the AT next year?
Lee Bohan that’s about 8 times longer than the Pennine Way! I think walking solidly for 16 weeks would drive me potty
Hi Dean I'm just rewatching your Pennine Way trip, do you know that day 13 is marked as private on Viewranger ?
Thanks for watching, just updated the map on Viewranger to public :-)
@@DeanRead Thank you, I've really enjoyed watching it twice now :-)
Horney STEDD farm is the way to pronounce it !
I’m still unsure as I’ve heard it pronounced both ways, I’ll have to ask Helen when I’m there over the summer 😂
You've set me off craving chocolate hobnobs, as I shop at Aldi I bought their version for 41p and IMO taste just as good as hobnobs ;)
They're absolutely delicious ,next time I do a lengthy walk they will be at the top of my kit-list .
Them steps what you climbed up (5.10) imagine doing it after a few pints lol
