And its because just doing well against someone, doesn't mean its true you can do well against someone else they can overcome. Take LCW for example, clearly faster and more athletic than WZM but look at how he plays against LD when physically comparing stats.

Because in major other tournaments he later faced LCW, and he kicked his ass.
In Malaysia open and other major tournaments, because in tournaments like those it all comes down to pure confidence, which LCW & LD have developed over the years.

I could tell that Lin Dan was so relaxed and composed playing against WZM and other chinese players.
In his carreer, I notice only Lee Chong Wei, Viktor Axelsen and Peter Gade could get Lin Dan to play seriously.
