    The jacket fits as it is designed. It is a motorcycle jacket. The sleeves are the right length for riding a motorcycle. The back and the shoulders have extra room for outstretched arms. You would be happier with something like an A2 Flight Jacket, which has knit cuffs. It's a classic WW2 era design for military pilots.

      But the sleeves get in my way and it is actually very uncomfortable. Since I cannot cuff the leather sleeves, they are always hanging on my hands.
      Might have to tailor them🥲

      Not a moto jacket. An actual moto jacket from Schott is the 613 or stuff.

      The leather should be thicker and stiffer for ridin', and a number of other features make the 530 inappropiate for that.

    Seems like a few commenters think a moto style jacket has to be ridden on a motorcycle. What happens when you go into the bar after getting off the bike? A jacket can and should work in multiple situations, and typically if it doesn’t feel right while walking around, it’ll be worse on a bike. The sleeves don’t need to be that long for motorcycle riding, either. Just slightly longer than the wrist. You can then wear gloves to cover anything else.
    Everybody has different proportions, so shortening the sleeves would be perfectly appropriate. That’s why there are custom makers, not every jacket is going to fit all of us well off the rack. Probably be much better after breaking it in too.

      I do see how longer sleeves can be helpful when riding bikes, but like you mention, when I am not on the bike but sitting in a bar drinking and still want to keep the jacket on (cuz it's cool), I'd want the sleeves shorter. I don't bike but even if I do, I'd still prefer shorter sleeves for more comfort for more situations.

    • @coinecc
      @coinecc 8 місяців тому

      @@loneruggedkazuki yeah, for sure - I tend to prefer shorter sleeves with most jackets, even if they ride up a little when reaching out. I tend to do physical stuff in my jackets, so getting the sleeve out of the way as I reach for/into stuff makes it convenient. Plus shorter sleeves just look better, stylistically.

    Proportionally, white people usually have longer limbs than Asians. I have the same struggle with sleeves being too long or the jacket length being too long. Not sure if you've had experience with any high-quality Asian leather jacket brands. Maybe they'd fit better. I'd be interested to know. Also it's funny, Zara jackets fit me perfectly as well. We must have the same body type/proportions or something lol

    Greetings Kazuki. I guess you are around my height, and i will tell you:
    The 530 is NOT really a motorcycling jacket, for a number of reasons. It's a moto style jacket rather.
    Anyway, the main points to determine a proper fit for a jacket are:
    Shoulders: The most important by far. The shoulder seam should be right at your shoulder bone, or very slightly past it, in a defect. Further away or smaller than the shoulders, it's a bad fit. Which this one does not. Your shoulders fit right where they should.
    Waist length: An actual jacket should fit between the belt line and mid fly. Longer than that and being a "jacket" and not a coat, not a good fit either. I also find that section properly fitting.
    Chest and waist: It should ideally be fitted but not tight, so you can layer a hoodie or stuff underneath. Close to the body is good but you get the compromise of the jacket being unable to fit if you gain weight. Chest should naturally be relaxed and not tight feeling.
    Sleeves: The width shouldn't be much larger than the wearer, while allowing for movement, and the length should be between the wrist bone or mid - hand, not past the knuckles. That is the point where i see it fits the worse in this jacket. Naturally the best that you can do is get the garment sent to a tailor.
    Anyway, i'd say that the best that you can do is either get a fitted garment in the same materials or better leather (CXL is the best, i'd say even above Shinki horse) or on the other side, get the jacket tailored. Because the 530 is great. Unfortunate that the sleeves are that long, because it is a moto style jacket.
    If i am very frank with you, there are very few leathers better than the one used for the 530. I would try to get it fitted. And i also say this because you could get a Thursday that will fit better, but between Thursday and Schott there's no comparison point. Greetings

    • @loneruggedkazuki

      Thank you so much for the detailed information! I agree with you and will definitely get the sleeves tailored.
      I do want to wear this Schott jacket property and am willing to pay extra money to help it fit me better.
      I actually tried Thursday Boot's leather jacket, and that one had really bad quality issue. I hated it so much tbh. I returned it and got full refund but am trying to stay away from them. I made a video about it if you are interested😅

    • @javierdiazsantana
      @javierdiazsantana 8 місяців тому +1

      @@loneruggedkazuki Thanks Kazuki. Hoping you are well: Yes i saw that video hehe, unfortunate what happened. If i had gotten the Thursday i wouldn't dislike it because of the paint flaking off (Since mexican leather has a very bad paintjob on it XD) but because it was lambskin. I think for a first timer jacket lamb is okay but i personally think that calfskin is the greatest compromise between durability and comfort. Another good one is toggled cowhide like this 530 jacket, (Which is much softer than veg tanned steerhide or horse) but the cowhide tends to be much heavier. By the way i have to condition my jacket which is very close in style and leather to the 530. I tend to like those leathers much more but they do take a very good time to break in. A Schott horsehide jacket starts feeling okay after a couple years or at least one, wearing it to every place and getting it rained on. I do like a lot the lambskin feel but i tended to feel as if i wasn't wearing anything when i had my lamb jacket, hehe.

      @@javierdiazsantana Thanks again! Very much appropriated the comments.
      I did like the simplicity and the construction of the Thursday's jacket. It was the leather they used that should not have passed whatever the quality assurance card that the jacket comes with covers (also the quality card had a bunch of misspells)
      If I were to try another Thursday's products, I'd get their boots that are made with Horween leather (I live in Chicago and love the Horween leather. It cannot go wrong with it).
      Yeah this Schott jacket is quite heavy and still very stiff (It looks much softer on other UA-cam channels because the guys on the channels have been wearing the jackets longer). I will keep wearing this and take a good care as needed!

    I think you need to go down one size…I am 5”7 and use to be 160 pounds and wore a medium jacket and had the same fit as you. So I lost weight and now wear a size small and I still have the same issue with the arms. So now all my jackets are a size 38 small and I still had to have the arms shortened on most of my jackets. Schott is a wonderful jacket so I personally would keep the jacket and have the arms shortened as long as you are happy with the rest of the fit…
    All leather jackets in my opinion are restrictive in movement. All of my leather jackets are and they are all top dollar jackets.This is normal and takes some getting used to. Everyone I know here in the US are buying Japanese jackets and I mean the jackets that cost $2k. So I joined that club thinking that they would be less restrictive and just simply more comfortable, however I have come to realize that thick leather jackets aren’t as comfortable as cotton. I love them anyways and will always wear leather jackets!

    Mi hermano, métete en Google y busca imágenes del actor Tom Cruise con chaquetas de cuero, particularmente de la película "the war of the worlds" y la primera de Jack Reacher.
    Hay muchas más fotos del mismo, pero en la vida real, pero mi punto es que: notarás que las chaquetas de cuero que él usa no le quedan muy diferentes que a tí con tu chaqueta, espero que eso te brinde algún alivio, o perspectiva sobre el tema.
    En otro video tuyo ví que le mandaste a quitar parte del brazo, creo personalmente que hubiera sido mejor que la dejaras así por más tiempo antes de tomar esa decisión, pero igualmente te entiendo, yo también me he sentido igual que tú.

    I don’t think it’s too big at all, the sleeves are perfect for riding, and the length is fine, as is the back.. if you want to shrink it a touch? You could try a full shower soak, then wear it until it’s dry, pulling the sleeves up somewhat to wrinkle them and help the jacket adjust to your body shape? But it looks fine to me as is.. perhaps wear it in a reasonable rainfall? That’ll do just a touch..
