Blocking safe lane into tower not only makes it difficult to last hit the first wave, but pushes the second wave into neutral territory instead of keeping the wave close to tower. The best place a creep wave can be for a safe lane farmer is just outside of tower range with the ranged creep, so that no matter what if an enemy hero comes into tower range it gets attacked. Your first death this game was because the creep equilibrium was in a neutral position, and not right next to your tower.
Fun fact, Kihmari, who pl is based off of, has a weapon named the spirit lance, and its his best weapon in the game. PL's original dota model was also just a custom made model of kihmari. FFX's huge popularity lives on spiritually through pl despite him otherwise being totally unrelated to the original character, while having much cooler lore :)
This is where ctrl to command all unit comes in really handy, but I think if you add one type of his illusions to a control group, all of that type get added to that group. I like vlads as a sustain item, and if you ever have a spare inventory slot pick up a wind lace. Crit at 25 is almost always the way IMO. Old PL was way different, used to be able to 1v9 with a radiance.
@@streetguru9350 I'm certainly open to that idea but is it really worth sacrificing a slot on a pos 1 for an item with stats and an active mostly purchased by a 3 or 4?
@@imfinishedgrinding638 considering how cheap the upgrade will be to just vlads its worth it if you have the extra gold. It's not picked up often and has a low % winrate on dotabuff. But that's probably on lower MMR people who might buy it before diffusal or something.
@@streetguru9350 I still wouldn't want it to slow down my 3 stat item power spike though(Diffusal-Manta-Heart/Skadi). But I'll keep this idea in mind if ever the opportunity arises.
1) Q can inject illusions into a creep wave from a distance. Those illusions will then farm the wave while you move on. 2) Manta gives lancer something he sorely lacks: persistent illusions. Just sending those to split push while you stay in jungle is very effective. 3) Lancer lacks proper disable. Diffusal active can make up for that.
Main thing about shard is that once you get it you don't have to farm waves anymore. One q and it will die. So you just run out of jungle press q then back to jungle.
you probably know this by now since this vod's delayed but the gold doppleganger takes the same damage as your main hero which you can use to mindgame juke your enemies and make escape outplays
Love the "Who's next?" at the very end IDK if it came up in the game or afterwards, but illusion heroes don't benefit from raw +attack items. Hence why battlefury is a counterintuitively weak item on PL, the big +attack bonus is completely wasted on his copies. It's also why his suggested kit is all the big raw stat items (skadi, heart, butterfly, etc.) The only +attack item people sometimes get for PL is crystalis/daedalus, since your illusions will still benefit from the crit chance. But it's usually a 6th item when you're closing out a game and want to spend your last few thousand gold
Back in the day, PL was an absolute monster. Not really beause his skills were better (since they're arguably better now), but because I think he had something like the most stat gain in the game, certainly the most agility gain. Every level that he gained, he got a whopping 4.2 agility. It was pretty insane how fast he got by the end of the game. He also had an invis skill instead of disappearing/reappearing skill so you could go invisible, send one of the illusions to go create an army in one lane, and sneak over to the other lane and push there. I guess you could kinda do it now but the satisfaction of going invis when the enemy team jumps you and seeing them waste their spells on the lowly illusion, which at this point of time has created at least 4 illusions of its own, was something not really felt today. Of course, that could just be nostalgia talking as well...

Going back to lane after dying that often isn't actually supposed to be encouraged especially on a networth reliant hero such as PL. Best he just go jungle the moment he gets his ult.
