Always wondered what Power Rangers would be like if the original five stayed right to the end of the In Space series and the whole Zordon era.
Hmm. So are all the sixth rangers Tommy coming and going?
@@ecliptorcalrissian5014 Tommy becomes Zeo Gold and then becomes the Phantom Ranger (not sure if you can count him a Sixth, but whatever) before becoming the Silver Space Ranger.
Masked Rider, Ninjor, Auric the Conqueror and Blue Senturion remain as Ranger-Like Allies.

Agreed. They would have made a plot point that some of the rangers who stay as kids so they could recast but then when they returned later on for cameos the morphing grid solved the issues haha
First they turn into ninjas then kids. Also in season 3, if Tommy remain a white ranger then he would only get the falconzord as the other five zords would belong to the main five and the white shogunzord will belong to Kimberly instead of sharing it with Tommy. If they got the costume change instead of the Alien Rangers, then they wouldn't need Tommy, instead Jason will be red ranger, Billy will be blue ranger, Zack will be black ranger, Kimberly will be white ranger and Trini will remain yellow ranger since the Kakuranger Sentai had no sixth ranger. This also means Kimberly will had access to both the white crane and white falconzord.
@@VOAN In response to only the very last statement... Not necessarily. In Kakuranger, Tsubasamaru wasn't a ranger's mecha. So, it would stand to reason that, like Titanus and Tor before him, Falconzord would be it's own flying carrierzord.
And we wouldn't need the return of Titanus to form an Ultrazord, because what we knew as the Ninja Megazord would be the Ultrazord.
Also, Tommy could've become the Gold Ranger.
Does the timing match up? I don't remember exactly but I thought Tommy was already zeo red and the red ranger switch happened in turbo
I definitely think Billy should have been gold or been transferred from Jason to Billy but he was shafted because of his sexual orientation and all that.
Regardless, in the 90s the show was made for children so they probably didn't care as much for plot points until space came out and the series was supposed to end. Lost in galaxy was actually supposed to never happen but in space was so successful that they continued the Series
Different from today's world where power rangers feeds off of kids and adults who grew up with the series. I think it's genuinely still one of the IPs that has so much potential but nobody (Hasbro) wants to capitalize on it.

Tommy would have never been leader without the contract dispute.
During all the time Jason and Tommy appear together, Jason has by a long shot, an immensely higher leader presence.

Just a quick correction: originally, the Gold Ranger was discovered to be Trey of Triforia, but he had to give his powers to someone else when he split into his 3 personalities. They were given to Jason because Billy had absorbed something that rejected them, until Trey reunited himself in the last episode.
If the original cast had remained in the show, I would’ve continued to watch it. Just wasn’t the same after they replaced Jason, Trini and Zack.

@C not really it was better with Jason, trini, and Zack. There replacements weren't it. They were good in zeo tho because they weren't cheap replacements.

I would've liked to see how they would've tied the stories together. I have been doing a deep dive back into this and it seems like every series is a standalone now.
That's because they copied the Japanese show Super Sentai's pattern. They did the same thing every season (or series as they call them). A stand alone season. New cast, sets, and Mecha(zords), new monsters, new bad guys, but same formula.
This is insane. I actually had to watch it 4 times. Subscribed!

Had there been no Green Ranger, there would have been no Green with Evil arc, and the show wouldn't have been anywhere near as popular as it became.
Keep Tommy, have him become the Green Ranger, lose those powers and then become the White Ranger as before.
Then during the Zeo Crystal search, it's up to Tommy, restored by the age correction machine Billy invented, to hold the fort while the other five as children go after the Zeo Sub Crystals.
Then he can borrow the Gold Ranger powers when the time comes.
Green with Evil made the show more popular but they were already greenlit for season 2 and 3 after 5 episodes of season 1 before green with evil even appeared. Tommy just made it more popular with a newer fan base attracting the "outcasts" i say that meaning what his character was a new person looking in which sat with a lot of viewers but the show was popular without him he just helped bring in a new fan base but even without the fan base the show would've thrived. Zeo had a downfall in viewership until ASJ came back as the Gold ranger so.

In season 2 of MMPR, had the rangers got the costume change to the Super Sentai based on that season then Zack would had become the green ranger instead of remaining as the black ranger since his zord, the Lion Thunderzord was green and not black.
Exactly. There were two waves of Sentai costumes between MMPR and Zeo.
Dairanger in 1993 and Kakuranger in 1994.
The biggest hurt I feel the show suffered was that Jason, Trini and Zack were not in the movie! This would've been HUGE!

We can only dream, the movie would've been completely different: Tommy and Kim are the central characters of the movie. Adam and Rocky more than anyone are just background rangers, this would have NOT happened should've been Jason, Trini and Zack, I think it would've been developed more equally as they already had a very developed character.

Right. The movie without Jason, Trini, and Zack feels like a Star Wars movie without Luke, Lei, and Han Solo. No offense to the replacement actors, but it’s just kind of sad. It’s like the movie never properly happened.
@@WhistleMeThis You’d be right. These new characters were so new and some countries hadn’t aired Season 2 the team change got people disinterested. You can see the movie is carried by Tommy and Kim, then Billy had some lines but the new three are background rangers and the script was written like that. Had it been with Jason he could’ve been at the front with Tommy and more of an ensemble for Kim, Billy, Trini and Zach

I think Saban would have kept the ogs until MMPR S3, retire them there and start the new cast and story with Zeo instead of Lost Galaxy with Rocky, Adam, Aisha, Kat and a character played by Brad Hawkins whom we will call Brian be the Zeo Rangers. But even if Saban wanted them in Zeo, Kimberly would not be in it due to Amy Jo wanting to leave on her own terms, would still get replaced by Katherine Sutherland. Billy would still not be a Ranger and become a technical adviser so the Zeo team could have looked like this
Trini-Pink(avoid racism), Kat-Yellow, Jason-Blue(SIC but still holds the fort with his leadership skills similar to TJ during In Space), Zach-Green, Tommy-Red(Saban would wanna change things up a bit and give Tommy the opportunity to be Red) this is just my opinion

@@charzanboo9940 The show takes it costumes and most action footage from Japan. The original Green Ranger and White Ranger was different from the others by Japanese design. This show had to work within those boundaries.

True and False at the same time. The show was meant to end at the Doomsday episode. They had filmed the shows after incase the show was brought back on......Tommy had been brought back only after it had been confirmed for 3 more seasons. Fan favorites were Jason and Tommy. If Jason and Tommy both had left the show would've failed. Tommy was brought back in season 2 because they wanted to keep him as a sixth ranger and not cast a new member. Once they learned Jason didn't sign his contract they made it the tommy show and leaned on his popularity alone. Had Tommy not returned at all the show and Jason not leave, the show would've made it to Turbo as story for Zeo revitalized the show but Turbo almost killed it and Space was supposed to once again be the final season but the story to Space was so good they brought it back again. They had been green lit for 4 seasons after season 1 ended.

Yes and No. Ratings for the show started to wane the moment Austin, Trini and Walter left the show. Season 3 had very average ratings but were never as high as season 1 or 2. Rita coming back helped boost ratings a bit but the crappy Zords in season 3 (until the shogun ninja zords) the tengas, and the continued dumbing down of the main villains lord zedd and goldar really took a hit with the ratings. Then when Amy left at the end of season 3 most people lost interest., Alien rangers did incredibly bad, Zeo didnt do well either, although better then Alien rangers (even Austin returning didnt really help boost ratings) and Turbo almost saw the show cancelled completely. (You can thank the kid ranger and terrible villains for that).
If the original cast had stayed and they didnt dumb down lord Zedd midway through season 2, I can guarantee the popularity of the show would have been as high as season 1 right through til end of Season 3. I think the ratings would have begun to drop off Once Alien Rangers began airing but could have still been good til turbo. Tommy is only so popular because of 2 factors. He had all the cool ranger uniforms and zords, plus he was the longest serving ranger. However to this day I still believe he was not as good a leader as Jason. Tommy always suited the 6th ranger personality. The lone ranger so to speak. It suited his fighting style and Personality in the show. He never had that Motivational quality Jason had to focus the rangers. I also feel the movie would have done significantly better had the original cast stayed as well. When you lose half of them kids, are not always forgiving. Look what happened in Transformers in 1986 as a perfect example of that. The movie was released in 1986 between season 2 and 3 and they killed off almost all the original transformers from both the autobot and decepticon sides simply because they wanted to make/sell more toys and look how quickly the show tanked after that. lasted essentially 1 season and a bit.

To be honest I think Tommy would've still been Either the Mighty Morphin Green Ranger where Jason is actually able to grab all the candles draining the Rangers Powers including the Green Candle saving Tommy's Green Ranger Powers or still lose the Green Ranger Powers but continue on even into Zeo as the Mighty Morphin White Ranger with the Falcon Zord after the 3rd season of MMPR if the original actors stayed.

Much respect to David for sticking around so long. Everyone else had hissy fits about money, but he is the only one who had a genuine reason to be pissed.
He should never have been treated the way he was, but it shows his character to not let them push him out.
I wouldn't call it a hissy fit. Making minimum wage at a job that requires you to work six days a week and gives you no share of profit from MILLIONS of dollars made from merchandise is just plain fucked up.
Watch the interviews, the actors will tell you that what they were being paid in comparison to what was being raked in from video sales, toys, and viewership was just inexcusable.
On top of that these actors were working SIX days a week.
They were being paid $612 dollars a week to film Power rangers. I'd be pretty pissed too if i got paid so little but expected to work like a slave. The company made billions. they could have paid these actors 10k a week and it wouldnt have even dented their profit margins. Saban was a selfish greedy A*hole. He is soley to blame for all of this. He should feel so grateful the actors dont still hate him.

Thats a very good salary. They are not skilled trained actors, and certainly not needed for the shows success. They had no power to demand more more.
The company I work for make billions, but I dont expect them to share it with me.
If they were smart, they could have used it as a platform to launch a long acting career.
@SteveDavies80 Its hardly a good wage. When unknown actors get paid a lot more then that for television series back then. You are also ignoring the fact they were working 16 hour days, 6 days a week. Their hourly rate (around $6.30/hr) is beyond disgraceful even for American standards at the time.
But it played out interestingly with tommy and Jason switching roles like that tommy being red and Jason the special 6th ranger.

It would have been weird if only Zack changed colors, both Tommy (back to Green after White, also weird but cool) and Zack (to Blue) changing colors could have worked pretty well though. Billy should have become Gold Ranger.

its sad to realize that they didnt just age out of the role naturally.. but left due to pay conflicts. like why dont these executives pay their talent the proper amount to keep them ,especially when they are making them so much money. Greedy executives. i lost interest in the show after the 2nd movie.

Here's another idea, What-if their powers and Zords weren't as disposable as the series made them out to be. Instead of the Rangers starting from scratch every season, they found ways to just upgrade their existing powers. I know this wouldn't sell toys but it would make for a better story. Changing power sets can only be done so many times until the viewer gets bored and expects a different suit in the next 5 minutes. It also lessens the powers that came before. When the enemies get stronger and stronger, the show's creators inadvertantly sent a message that MMPR are the weakest of all rangers but they're not. Smh.....

@@xavierwatson8682 If I was writing the story, if the Zeo powers were ever needed I wouldn't use the crystals to create a new power set. Since they're so powerful, I would plug the Zeo crystal into the Morphin Grid to boost the existing MMPR powers and possibly with the boosted power, allow them to control more Zords or make their Zords even more powerful. Many fans made up the theory that the Zeo power set had to retired because the powers were slowly killing the rangers, just like the Gold ranger was doing to Jason but at a slower rate. If true, then absorbing power directly from the zeo crystals to the rangers is far too dangerous. Instead, that power should be channeled into all 6 or 7 power coins, if fans want all 7 MMPR to be active at once. This way, the enormous power granted by the Zeo crystals is more diluted among 6 or 7 Rangers and it's in addition to their current set, so each Ranger may become more powerful without causing long-term harm.

@@Ajax1063 I like the theory but that is what was basically already powering the command center and power coins. Only using the crystal directly would it make the power stronger also the coins were destroyed by Zedd and Rita so they needed new powers to begin with.

I was PISSED, when I tell you how PISSED off I was when Billy stepped down, I was heated! But then a glimmer of hope when the Gold ranger came around. But nooooo they gave to Jason and I was done. I felt betrayed cause Austin had left the show, and I was REALLY enjoying Billy and 2nd in command.

Yeah, it didn't make much sense for them to sit on the new green power coin. They definitely should have done something with it.
It's pretty hard to imagine all of them staying that long (even without contract/pay dispute there probably would be some wanting to, like with Amy Jo Johnson, move on and do something else after 110+ episodes) and on the other hand also Tommy having a pretty short run, not coming back/continuing as the White Ranger, I did miss the 3 that left but think it would have been a greater loss if Tommy hadn't returned/continued. Otherwise, it would probably be weird if with Zeo only Zack changed color and then there would be even more backlash against when some replacements did come later.

Yes the original rangers were originally going to be in the movie. The movie had been greenlit in 93. So all 6 were aware of it.
Not to knock those who came afterwards but I actually couldn't bring myself to watch it as much when they left.

I guess it would've worked since the movie took place in an alternate continuity from the MMPR series anyway. Still, I'd rather at least still have Jason be the one to say "It's Morphin Time" cuz not even Tommy could deliver that line as awesome as Jason did.
@@darthgoku90 Well, l think that's partially true because Jason also had a high popularity as well and Tommy and Jason were neck to neck when it came to popularity. However, a co leadership between Tommy and Jason could also have been a possibility.
@@evanurena8868 Good idea about the co-leader thing. Still, if Jason really was as popular as Tommy I doubt Saban would've been able to get away with replacing him when they did. If they tried to get rid of Tommy at the same time, there's no way the fandom would've let them get away with it, let alone if they tried to replace all six of the OG Rangers at the same time. I think the reason why they DID get away with replacing Jason, Zack and Trini at the time was cuz Tommy, Billy and Kimberly were the more popular trio since Billy was the brains, Kim was the sassy one, and Tommy was the Breakout Character who had already replaced Jason as leader.

@@xavierwatson8682 Cause he became the leader when he became the White Ranger. That happened way before Jason, Zack and Trini left. Whether they left or stayed he would have remained the leader.
For this instance i would keep the plot of the rangers turning into kids and searching for the Zeo sub-crystals. But have Jason as the one who changes into adult form. I would maybe have Ninjor or Delphine share with Jason the story of the ancient Golden Power Staff and the legend of Pyramidas.
After the rangers find the crystals and become the Zeo rangers, this would be the opportunity for Jason to teleport to the M51 Galaxy. He wont return until half way through the show or at least a few episodes in.

@@xavierwatson8682 well the timeline doesn't change. In this scenario its only changing from the episode "The Ninja Encounter" where Rocky, Adam, Aisha were introduced. But in this scenario theres no need to establish them. So this is where the timeline would change if Jason, Zack and Trini never have to leave.

I never had an issue with the 6th ranger, but given story for 5. I did feel bad for Austin St. John. As Tommy was far more popular than Jason. I think had Walter stayed they would have been happy to have him, but were fighting for good reasons. I personally don't see the issue with being the black ranger as I digged the black. They were working with stock film and had to use what they did and I get that. I would have liked to have seen him with a gold shoulder pad as it looked great with the Gold Ranger who for all intense and purpose really should have been called the Black Ranger as he was mostly black and the gold shield shouldn't change their color as The White Ranger wasn't called Gold or the Green called Gold. That being said I felt the Gold Ranger Zord was really awful. I loved the Zords in MMPR far more than Zeo and beyond.
Jason and Tommy had their own popularity but many like preferred Jason over Tommy and vise versa

But i believe Tommy wouldn't leave the Mighty Morphin seasons for good, he still would be there, he just would not lead the team.
And about the third Mighty Morphin season wouldn't exist then, i believe it still would exist.
We would still have the Rangers search for the Zeo Crystal but instead of Tommy going to the moon to take it, we would still have Jason to do that, then instead of divide the crystal into five parts Jason would split it into 6 sub - crystals.
We then, MOST PROBABLY, would have the Aquitian Rangers being lead by Aurico instead of Delphine.
I know that her japanese counterpart is the leader of the Kakuranger, but i believe that in this version the writers would change that little detail to show us that both the Red Rangers of both planets match not only by colors but also by leadership.
Since in the real life, aka what we got, we had a White Ranger from Earth as a leader the writers, or producers ( i don't know ), decided to let the White Ranger of Aquatar bee a leader ( just like her japanese counterpart ) just to match her by color and leadership with the White Ranger of Earth.
And since she was already a leader in the japanese version they didn't needed the trouble to change that, it was a coincidence having a Sentai with a White Ranger leader back then so they just let it roll that way.
Now with this new version they would tweak here and there just to establish the Red Alien Ranger as a leader.
Then in the Zeo season we would have the six Rangers from Earth becoming the Zeo Rangers.
Of course we would have earlier Sentai footage of Pyramidas already appearing in the first Zeo episode, i believe they would do that.
They did that with the Ninja Zords and the Shogun Zords, in the Sentai version, Kakuranger, the japanese version of the Shogun Zords appeared first and the Ninja Zords second, so i strongly believe they would do the same thing with Pyramidas in the Zeo show.

It would be great for the Power Rangers Zeo: Tommy would be the Red Zeo Ranger, Jason would be the Blue Zeo Ranger, Zack would be the Green Zeo Ranger, Trini would be the Yellow Zeo Ranger, and Kimberly would be the Pink Zeo Ranger, and Brad Hawkins would be the Gold Ranger and Billy would be the technical advisor and assistant of Alpha 5 and Zordon.
@JJB11 Kat would still replace Kim due to Amy Jo actually wanting to leave on her own accord but when Zeo comes around, Saban would switch Trini to Pink and Kat Yellow to avoid racism

Nevertheless, I still think Bandai made better toys than Hasbro, considering more TV accurate body proportion to suit actors, fancy joint parts, and better texture detailing (which is supposed to have less wrinkle & muscular due to spandex feature).

I think the first ranger, should be recast into future movie and let them be the guardians who actually been helping from far assiting future rangers etc. They should be the ones to pass the torch and not just pop into the screen for two seconds and disappear. I just feel the studio did bad on the revival movie. It could've been better. I don't know why the first cast was sooo powerful together. The chemistry they had on screen is just powerful. Though now sigh, without the green ranger, i wonder, can the first five rangers be at least again, placed in future ranger movie T_T ..... It just the correct thing to do and also, i hope the white dragon movie is seriously shine in my cinema .... i would lOVEEEE to watch it. T_T

Sounded like you skipped the Kakuranger season (MMPR Season 3)since OhRanger was airing in Japan at the time so Zeo couldn't air in the states a year sooner. That said I think they could had bee some changes far as Amy and Thuy's roles since Amy wanted to leave in season 3 and Thuy was injured during the 2nd season Although if both of those things didn't happen the only way this could work was if the costume changed that occurred in Zeo, with instead used in the previous season. With Kimberly as the White Ranger, instead of Pink. Since that sentai season 3 used, didn't have a Pink Ranger. Then maybe you could do Zack as the Green Ranger in Zeo With maybe Tommy returning in Zeo as the Gold Ranger or, they would create a new character as the Gold Ranger.
So crazy you mention that, because Hasbro Lightning Collection just unveiled the Kakuranger set and as soon as I order them next year I'm gonna swap out the heads with thr MMPR lineup!

I would have shaken up the leadership roles in zeo I would of given leadershipto Trini who wears red in zeo and Kimberly who wears blue in zeo as her second in command I would of had David aka Eric frank as the zeo gold ranger then I would of had Jason wear yellow Zack I would of had him wear green then I would of had a mysterious pink zeo ranger instead of the gold ranger who could of been a new character I would have kept Billy in the technology /mentor role however I would of made him a secret ranger who no one knows existed to protect Billy and his new missions which would explain his random disappearances in Zeo
