This is not how to remove the reverse lock thing by using screwdrivers, seems like it is, but it's how I broke mine, snapped the little tabs off. When plastic gets old it gets brittle, I learned this the hard way. The thing actually spins like 90 degrees and just slides out from those tabs. No need to jam screwdrivers in or anything like that.
Did you reuse that rubber grommet that was inside the OEM lockout? I took mine out in the whoosh aluminum lockout and outting it in, makes the reverse lock out not work. Only thing is, sometimes i can hear the metal inside touching the aluminum reverse lockout when it moves.
Nice. Now I just wish someone would make an aftermarket lockout 'block' (the part which is lifted). My lockout tab broke off, so it catches on the transition between 1 and 2. :(
@@PurpleKoolAid765How did you get it done? I'm trying to do this now & there are zero instructions on the bill of works website and this video only shows the ST. The RS is definitely different.
That's the actual reverse lockout. When you pull the reverse lockout it moves up and is able to clear the stock shiftstop of your vehicle. It's usually a single piece, but Ford didn't want to do it like that because Ford. When you go to 5th or 6th, well 1st or 2nd in the case of Ford. It will hit the stock shift stop making it impossible to go into reverse. That's why you pull up on the reverse lockout. It pulls that black piece up so you can move it over the shift stop and into reverse. It is part of the reverse lockout, it is not It's own part.
Turn harder. Lol. When they sit on there for a while they can become siezed a little. Probably due to vibrations from the transmission, and excessive use. They might jump threads or something. Just turn it even harder it'll come off.
@@mattevans1643 lmao appreciate it dude, i legit put all my weight into that bitch felt like i was guna snap it, but i actually got rid of the car since this post but i appreciate it 🤙🏿
@@cccraigslist yeah i was close to snapping it it felt like, but i ended up trading it in about 2 months ago, had to get rid of it for medical problems couldnt drive stick daily nemore ;(
This piece is a lifesaver. My oem lockout was coming apart at the mould seam and was cutting up my hand. Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial. Straightforward and to the point!

That's the reverse lockout, it's part of the assembly of the transmission shifter. You can't buy one.

My Rs is nothing like this please help. I do not know how to get this stock lockout off
I eventually got it installed but I recommend you do another video on the rs only.
