Congrats,, nice Bear,, i love hunting the peninsula,,, but you better be ready for wind and rain,, it can get Brutal, but still fun,, i hunted first time in 1991,, my last trip was in 2011,,,, it seem to me, not as many Bear as before,, , i dont think its as good as it used to be,, i hope i'm wrong, was planning a 2021 fall trip, but i think i'm going back to the Brooks Range,,, although i have always got my Bear on the peninsula, i like the brooks just a little better, not giant bears, but there are some nice Bears up there
Thank you for the comments and watching. Alaska brown bear populations are beyond healthy across Alaska. Hunting the peninsula on down the chain certainly presents unique WX challenges. Good luck out there!
When cooking bear treat it as you would pork. Bear is a more greasy meat than say pork with a mild to moderate game taste. The time of year, season (fall or spring) and most importantly the location the bear is taken will be a deciding factor on the quality of meat. Any bear brown or black bear feeding on fall Alaska salmon can be anything from very fishy to not fishy tasting at all. Just depends. Interior grizzly bear feeding on berry type vegetation is not fishy at all. Overall brown bear is very good. Many ways to prepare it.
@@fredoakes7441 It can be very fishy tasting depending on what the bear is feeding on. Berry bears in the interior are very good or any bears not feeding on fish. Spring bears typically have the best chance of not being fishy coming out of their winter naps. Bear if kept too long frozen can also develop a rancid taste.

Congratulations on a great hunt. What rifle, cartridge, and load were you using?
For bear anything 300+ caliber/grain will get it done.
