Very nice video. I love this content. Thanks for doing this experiment. Given that I'm a newbie crocheter, I am still learning about the various types and brands of yarn. I will certainly use this information as I make future purchases. Off to watch part 2. 😉
I was amazed at the difference between the three anti-pilling yarns! I guess, just like regular acrylics, there's quite a bit of variation in this variety. Hmmm maybe I need to dig further into what makes yarns anti-pilling? ;-)
Premier Everyday a tip I'll ing is the top of the heap for me. I have been using it over a decade for Afghan and even the ones that saw HARD wear from toddlers (who are now teens) still look good with very little pilling.
Very useful info. I definitely consider the price per yard. Sadly, I don't have a Hobby Lobby nearby. JoAnn is closer. Thank you very much for your detailed record keeping.
Details are my "love language" - I'm glad you appreciated that I kept them in order ;-) That makes me grin. With enough patience, I bet you could get the JoAnn's anti-pilling for a comparable price to HL - just takes a little bit of time to watch the sales. I really did like the Big Twist yarn! So gorgeous!
I'm so glad you found the video helpful! I really enjoyed running the experiment! Brings me back to a different time of life when things were a bit more orderly ;-)
Ah, well, hopefully that blanket will stay nice and clean (but with what I know of babies, that's not a guarantee). I'm confident that if you do have to wash it, it will hold up quite well! Thanks for your thoughtful comment!
This was a fun experiment! Thanks for taking the time to test out the different yarns. I think I'll give the Hobby Lobby yarn a try on my next project. 🙂
I was really surprised that HL won out! Now if only there were a few more "daring" color combinations ;-) Glad you enjoyed the experiment! I had so much fun with this one!
Premier Anti-Pilling is definitely one I'll test next. I'm just waiting for a good shipping price at a couple of stores ;-) Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks for letting me know you found the video useful!
So interesting; thanks for sharing. =) I’ve made some blankets with premier anti-pilling yarn. I only washed them once before packaging (gifts). I used 3 weight, though. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. (Premier has both 3 and 4 weights in anti-pilling). I’m making one for my husband now, so I’ll have it here to wash more often and gauge the wear-and-tear better. (All three blankets have been houndstooth pattern in sports team colors.) =)
Your blankets sound wonderful! I would imagine the 3 weight Premier Anti-Pilling is the same as the 4 weight since it's the same company and they come in similar colors. I'll have to get ahold of that brand for the next one! Thanks for your thoughtful comment!
Oooh, I've heard of Premier's anti-pilling, but does Hobbii have an anti-pilling yarn? Is it a 4-weight? I've never purchased from Hobbii so I'm unfamiliar with their yarn. Thanks for the suggestions!
Great testing method! I appreciate that you tried yarns in your area. It looks like there's a clear winner! I was also dissapointed in Vanna's Choice, I thought for the price it would wear better. My favorite is Lion Brand Heartland, the colors are gorgeous and even though it's not anti-pilling, I've made several blankets that have worn well.
I really like Vanna's Choice in general - it's nice and thick and wonderful to work with, but I agree, it wears about the same as other acrylics. I've never used Lion Brand Heartland, if you can believe it, but that would be a great one to use as a "control" variable in the future! It seems like a LB staple, not going anywhere any time soon, so maybe I can work that one in! Thanks for the suggestion! You are always so thoughtful!

Great job
Thank you!
Great experiment and very informative! I'd love to know how Premier Anti-pilling stacks up.
Was coming here to say that.
Ah, that one is on my to-do list! I'm stalking a few sites, waiting for a good shipping price for Premier anti-pilling! :-)
Great minds! :-D
Very beautiful
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for doing this comparison. I use 4 weight anti-piling, and have found variations that arent always to my liking.

My pleasure! Thanks for taking the time to say "thank you"! :-)

That'll preach! Thank you for sharing! I'll have to get my hands on some of that yarn for Round 2! 😊❤️

Great yarn comparison/experiment. The result is information I will keep in mind when buying these yarns. Thank you!🥰

Very useful video! I made baby blanket with Hobby Lobby anti pilling and it was nice but I haven’t washed it.

Hi. The comparisons were very helpful to me. Would you test Premier Anti Pilling Yarn?

How abt Premier’s anti-pilling any one of them, or Hobbii’s?

@@slowcrochet Premier has anti-pilling 4 weight but the ones I’ve used from Hobbii are all DK.

Hurray for Hobby Lobby!
I was surprised and impressed, too, Ms. Betty Lou! :-)
