Quality went off a cliff. The editing was so crucial to the humour he was doing. The other issue is it's hard for him to review essentially the same meal over and over and over when he was a personality driven youtuber. Chicken Shop Date and Hot Ones are essentially video podcast interview shows. I think he should have switched into being a shoe channel cos then he could have set up his own online store and made P's that way without being reliant completely on youtube revenue.
The amount of videos that had this comment on and he still did nothing about it is what harmed him. People kept telling him bring back the old editor and camera man but that never happened

I made a lighthearted joke about him, I basically said that he's not really a sneakerhead as he claims to be. I think my exact words were something like "a real sneakerhead doesn't only wear Air Max 90's." He responded, asking me if I smoke crack and he told me that my comment was based on ignorance. Not only that, he even referenced other videos where he was wearing different sneakers. I kid you not, in basically every other video, he alternates from Air Max 90's to Air Max 95's to TN's and repeat. Like come on, how can you call yourself a sneaker enthusiast when you only wear Air Maxes? He's definitely a little bitch when he responds to fans. I don't feel bad for him falling off.

He fell out with his original editor and then uploaded a handful of badly or unedited videos over the next year or so which just completely killed the momentum he had. He really shouldn't have underestimated how important the editing was.

He was not humble to his fans. I met him with his friend at corner Bath Street and City Road, EC1V, Islington. I politely asked to take a picture with him so I could show my sons as a surprise. My sons had recently put me onto his videos. He menacingly looked at me and showed his annoyance by declining to even shake my hand. This was way pre-covid before we even knew a pandemic was on the horizon. He left me very ashamed and I could not Unsmile, too. His friend remained quiet and I strolled away feeling bad about recognising the chicken agoniser on the streets of Islington. I wish him recovery though, and hopefully he engages with his fans in some way 🤝👊🏿🟥🟨🟩

I remember the show took a dive in quality once he got rid of one of his editors, became much slower and longer than it needed to be.
The problem was brudda just didn’t change his content I still go back to his channel for the nostalgia cause it was relatable due to most 2010s not going to restaurants regularly but I were more likely to go to a chicken shop and Elijahs charisma
This, when I lasted watch it was the exact same thing with the exact same format
I think he could have at least stayed relevant if he kept the same format without losing his editor. They were only short episodes so it wasn't much of a commitment to watch with the sick edits and his charisma and jokes, but when he lost the editor I remember losing interest so quickly after that, not as much because the flashy edits were gone but because it changed the entire pace of the show to a crawl and he lost that energy he had
I think that's why he tried things like money up and puka grub hoping he could do something else but his audience just wanna see the aame 5 minute videos of him reviewing the same handful of shops.
The loss of his camera man / editor hurt his channel, and while he's got a replacement now and is decent, it's not the same. I happened to stumble on a vlog of Elijah at either a Nike event or trainer event, and I liked that concept. I think he should explore these more. Plus there's untapped potential in his hor d'oeuves. He shpuld go in Fish and Chip shops, Ghanaian, Nigerian, Carribean restaurants etc.
The chicken connoisseur and his editor were a dream team. I don’t think they’ll be able to replicate the synergy between both talents.

I met him in Islington years ago. I was impressed by his show and tried to show him love. I was shocked by how rude he was! I’ve got sons older than him 🙄
I remember watching that first acapella video and it made me realise straight away how much the editor really added to the video. Seeing him just sit with little shouts here and there just made it feel so bland. It really was the beginning of the end.

It was unique to begin with! Went viral for his personality and his production being so ahead of its time. His editor originally was onit made it so entertaining all in but then he has some sort of fall out and changed editors and it just wasn't the same style and entertainment
His content went down the gutter without that editor, the content just wasn’t the same anymore.
He was big when i was in school, most of his audience from then has grown up by now and moved on, while he failed to catch the next generation of viewers. Theres only so many ways you can review chicken shops, really

Guy fell off like 5 years ago, up and coming UA-camrs can have dips and recover if they make the right choices, if in 5 years he’s been inconsistent and constantly trying to justify lack of uploads and has struggled to get an editor and a plan together for a recovery, then I think it’s safe to say his peak has been and gone, I had personally forgotten about him until I watched this video, many also said he was an unlikeable figure.

I had also forgotten about him until this video. He really came across with the personality that people were watching for him, but without the slick editing, he turns into a bit of a rambling mess with the same things being said every episode.
Nah, the bottom line is, this seems to be a case of becoming successful too quickly. There's only so much times your can review chicken shop/junk food before the novelty wears off. What he needed to do eventually, was re-invent his content. The other two UA-cam channels mentioned in this video interview celebrities, which means their channels will have longevity to a certain degree, but, I'd bet my life on it that even they're looking to keep their content fresh and engaging. I hope the Chicken Connoisseur finds something that works really well for him. Also, I hope he finds something that won't potentially compromise his health. Adam Richman from Man vs Food knew that his content wasn't sustainable and decided to put his health first.

The main reason he's failing is because of himself. Went from a humble kid eating chicken, giving it a funny review, to an adult who looked like a child, who was in love with himself, hated his fans, didn't want to work or progress what he started. When he's 50 years old, he will be looking back, wishing he wasn't so lazy when he had a real chance at being a massive youtuber, earing a fat wedge of cash.

Actually met him a couple min walk from euston station once.... tried speaking to him and he was just a bit rude and odd to be honest. Didnt lift his head up from his phone and muttered a few words so just left him to it. He's very awkward and unsociable. Used to enjoy the early shows though.

Pretty interesting, I didn't realise there'd been so much drama behind the scenes. When i saw the drop in prodution I just assumed they'd lost interest in the original product but still wanted to cash in a few extra bucks. They could 100% make a come back with the content of the original episodes though
He was entertaining for a while, but like a lot of these UA-camrs who rely on a particular niche or gimmick, his content ran dry after a while. Only so long you can hear someone say "the chips was dead" without it grating.
If I remember correctly didn't he also attempt to sell insanely priced merch at one point?! Like a grand for a t-shirt with his logo in it? Saying it was highly priced as it was limited edition...but still just a standard tee??

I think it was because his target audience was young children of school age, and they left in droves when they realised he was almost a 30year old man. But he was a 30 year old man with a child’s life. That’s not a good look or anything to look up to. It’s actually rather sad and pathetic.

He needs to broaden his content and do other different various cuisines. Plenty of brilliant, diverse market cafes and take alway restaurants across London for cheap prices too. But maybe that’s not the direction he’s trying to take, I don’t know. I just think he would gain a lot more followers and become more relevant if he did this. It’s quite self explanatory really.

Can't help but feel that as a young black man from a poorer background, he isn't getting the support, guidance, and development around him that Amelia must have. It seems she's from quite a well-off background so likely has a team of people working for her. Hope he manages to regain his career.

He was a one trick pony. His content was a breath of fresh air when he first blew up, but there’s only so many times you can review fried chicken before the act gets old. He could have easily adapted and evolved his channel to keep it interesting, but it seems he lacked the work-rate of other creators.
