Coming at you from Central California. Well, the Goodwill is, of course, crazy expensive - their greed is over the top. I'd say about half the thrift shops here have followed suit (with Goodwill pricing). All the others have crept up a little bit due to inflation, but not too bad. What's weird is many yard sellers and folks on Offerup are trying to charge exorbitant prices. Higher prices than when new, so also following suit I guess. Maybe it's just California. They tend to get a little nuts out here.

Up here the prices are just too high now also. Also I’m seeing the big thrifts putting broken or cracked goods out. What a waste. Goodwill, Value Village have lost my business. I’ve started finding better deals at the small thrift stores and antiques where they like us to bundle and haggle. Cheers 🇨🇦

honestly, it’s due to a lot of the people on UA-cam who now everybody thinks that they want to be a Reseller is a result of watching these videos and I’ve been a reseller for 20 years. My house is a complete disaster now come not everybody wants to get into this.
I very much agree and also have to disagree. I too have been reselling for over 30 years. Mostly part time. I think that UA-cam has shown a way for people to make an extra buck, and in today's pricey world, it's hard for many people to get by without working two or even three jobs. This being said I remember going to the Flea Markets and garage sales when I was younger and if you didn't get their early then you missed out on so much. Reselling or Picking has always been around for a long long time. Those old timers would pick out the best stuff. We would have to seach harder for the leftovers. I hear you about the house. I have been waiting for 3 months for my landlord to fix my ceiling from a major leak and had to move stuff from my living room into the the two bedrooms and I can't even walk or get my clothes out. We also had to take down a shelf and now I can't find stuff. Yesterday I broke down crying because of it. So unless people have a big house it would be a mess to store stuff for re-selling.

I used to buy all my clothes from Goodwill. Not at all now. Why pay $7.99 for a USED shirt when I can buy brand new off the clearance rack at Walmart for $3?!
I am not a reseller I go into a thrift store to save money. Some thrift stores are trying to get in on the reselling game, however, some of these thrift stores have forgotten what their purpose is and that is to help those who otherwise cannot afford regular prices. Thrift stores need to be just that….thrift stores! Garage sale prices. It is the customer’s business what he or she do with that purchase. I also believe that the resell culture has contributed to the thrift stores raising prices. But I also believe that some of the prices people are paying for a used item is crazy as well. I guess an item’s value is only what someone is willing to pay.
I whole heartedly agree that thrift stores have forgotten what their intended poirpose was. There items have been donated to them and to ask such high prices for those people who can't afford retal stores means they forgot about humanity. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.
Sad but true, thriftflation is apon us! Most thrift stores in Dallas use ebay or amazon to price stuff now, or the people pricing the itmes price them super high so no one buys them & then takes them home to resell themselves. It's a shame but what can you do?
I very seldom go into a thrift store anymore for this reason! And my little town doesn't even have a chain thrift store. It is just a small one called Samaritan Center. I have heard they go through the donations and then send the good stuff to a bigger store they have in another city. But they have nearly doubled their prices this past year. So I just quit going in. I haven't been in it for probably 5 months now.
I agree. It's sad that these are donations and they are raising prices so high. I know bills have to be paid and people's wages, but they are still donated items for everyone. Thanks for watching👍
Yes, quadruple. I was looking at a cute cookie jar for myself and the price was originally $32. It was half off and I said "nope too much" AND it had a major chip. I'd never pay more than $10 if it's made in China because the paint wears off. I know the stores around here are looking up Ebay prices. They also cut the Birthday bonus of 50% off. You used to be able to get $100 and now it's $25. I'm not a reseller yet- not sure if I want to.

I sometimes source at estate sales. They have multiple every weekend in my area.
Fo sure estate sales can be good too. I go to them once in a while, but they can be high priced in our area.

Goodwill is so high, I quit going there.
But, I do have 2 thrifts in Mitchell near me that are good. Regeneration is good.
