- "The Yankee Doodle Boy", also well known as "(I'm a) Yankee Doodle Dandy" is a patriotic song from the Broadway musical "Little Johnny Jones" written by George M. Cohan (1878-1942) in 1904. An early hit recording of the song was sung by Cohan's contemporary and fellow Irish-American Billy Murray in 1905. Enjoy this great song.

The fact that this exists is just hilarious.
It's over 100 years old; the world was different back then. Nationalistic songs like this were very common.
If you read more into the lyrics, and analyze them, you can see a ton of Jingoism in it. "The kid that stole the candy" = USA taking the Spanish colonies just a few years prior. "Made my name and fame in boodle" = USA becoming a Great Power... also rearrange the letters of boodle = bloode = blood.
While the USA became isolationist a few years later; in 1905, under Teddy Roosevelt, was itching for a scrap.
It's fame and foodle. You're looking into this ridiculous song way too much man.
And it's the kid that's all the candy which was a saying back then to mean like "I'm hot stuff"
