I had that happen when I bought a Porsche from a dealer, sold it 4 years later and the buyer called to tell me it was stolen and he was arrested, bla, bla. Turns out the car was repossessed, and they never took it off the hot sheet that he reported when the dealer took it back for non payment. It got fixed in 1 day, but I was like WTF, I bought it from a Porsche dealer , anything is possible.

Carvana is having issues with trying to sell cars right now. Apparently, there are stolen cars being sold and they’re found to have had their VIN changed.
Have to do it like they used to back in the day when Civics would get stolen left and right. Verify the engine vin code against the body vin code. There's no denying or hiding that.
Never personally witnessed this but can see it happening. Heck look at the stories of people 'renting' a car with a high oerformance engine and swapping them out. (Not necessarily now a days but in the past) I will be curious on your follow up video if those vins pop up on a forsale car.

Each state has different laws ,in Illinois if your vehicle older then 2017 u don’t have to show any paper work for the parts ,u just have to take it to safety inspection .if the vehicle pass then u will get everything
Before Carfax and before the VIN was on every body panel, this was much easier. I am not saying I have personal experience in that though. If somebody doesn't check the Carfax as to what damage the car had, what can you do. Also the inspection to get a rebuilt title will look at all the VINs on the car and verify them, most of the time.

Here’s the thing it’s not that easy because once you get the salvaged certificate, the vehicle has to be inspected by the state police before you get the title issue they are doing this to make sure there are no stolen parts on the vehicle. They check all serial numbers and you have to provide all your receipts from purchase the parts.

Everything needs the new vin… everything same paint code same year same model same odometer everything clone copy.. try not to take it to a dealership either way and you should be fine. You can get a new title with the dmv by getting a bill of sale from an auction site, and new insurance. Also be aware if you’re planning on buying a striker on Facebook they’re all scammers. No real grand theft auto guy would advertise on FB only can buy from overseas on the dark market

Wrong. Money hungry insurance companies don't always make the title non repairable because they want to recoup as much money as possible off the total loss even if the car has been burned to nothing. The insurance companies are the problem. The should be held accountable for not making titles certificate of destruction and so on.

Then, you look online for that make/model/year/color for sale, copy the VIN and plate. Boom you've got a stolen car you can easily sell with a fake title maker online. In the state of Texas, you cannot pull a vin number off and put it on another vehicle that is against the law. There’s no problem with changing frames. Long is not stolen but you cannot tamper with vin number

From my experience repossessed cars typically don’t go on the hot sheet. It’s a civil issue. A lot of them end up bonded titles.

Not in every state. Such as Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Utah etc etc etc. They literally walk out look at the VIN and issue a title......

Level 1 inspection won’t check engine in AZ but level 2 will check engine vin, not sure what they do if you grind the vin off engine

In Massachusetts when Someone buys a Salvage Title every single part has to be itemized and proven via the State Police Auto Theft Task Force.

Yeah motor swaps can lead you to jail even though you did nothing wrong just cause the vins don't match
Idk about you but in all the years I've been modifying my vehicles, or plane old getting a vehicle inspected. ive never once had any instance where the vin codes are ran to make sure your engine matches your car.
