@@ifyousayso03 And at least acknowledging what happened and apologizing for it is a great start at making reparations happen, as opposed to what’s happening now where they’re just being swept under the rug as if it never even happened at all. @domicile ubiquitis Well when considering that those same exact tax payers are currently living on First Nations land and enjoying everything without any thanks, respect/dignity or even a simple acknowledgment for what has happened to them to begin with, then I’d have to say that’s the least that we can do for them honestly. Really it should be the government outright paying for anything/everything that they need to be prosperous but the last thing they want to do is invest into the same people that they tried to exterminate.
@domicile ubiquitis I’m not saying that they don’t have homes on reservations but when was the last time you took a look inside of a reservation? My guess is never because the homes many have in them are little more than shacks that are barely hospitable and the land on those reservations was/is hard to farm which makes it even harder to sustain themselves on top of that. They didn’t get to choose their homes, they were forced into them unlike everyone else.

Beautiful. Thank you. ❤ This video and more like it need to circulate. I've watched several this morning & have noticed a common thread of peace, love, connectedness and a wish for healing. I don't know who my people were, what they were called , what language they spoke, BUT I am proud of my Native American heritage. My nose, my long hair, the color of my skin. I love it all. I know one day the land in the americas will one day be ours again. I dream of the day. Until then...
Some of you really miss the most honest quote from her speech that we all bleed red, and I see you've missed this point by saying "White people should watch this," "Oh white people this." Yes, this country's soil is soaked with the blood and tears of my people but it also stained with the blood and tears of people of every color and faith. We can no longer make one group or person the villain, we can longer point the finger at ghosts. We need to stand united and heal, build a world for our future generations. We need to demand a full history taught of not just Natives but all of our American brothers and sisters. From the Irish and Italians to the Chinese and so on. We have to make that stand in the now with the intent to forgive but not forget sins of the past. It is easier said than done, but not impossible if each of us starts with ridding our hearts of hate and vengeance. - A proud member of the Choctaw Nation
Excellent Post! I am 87 yo born in Arizona mining town Mexican Barrio. Indigenous people are a spiritual human asset we cannot afford to ignore. We owe it to our own survival to respect and learn from them. They see the eagle we see drones...they see bees, we see pests... they see stars, we see LEDs .... they hear birds singing, we hear sirens... they smell sage, we smell canned aromas.... I am MEXICAN-AMERICAN (Chicano, Latino, Hispanic, etc) and will do what I can for a better world....
its important to,learn and understand the different kinds of Tribes and their cultures,Its sad that people are not protected in their land, the rain forest should be protected land,we should all learn to respect and love one another and respect each other and our different cultures.
Thank you for sharing this amazing and inspirational video. I have been blessed to have been reminded of the richness of FN cultures. The road to healing is a long and arduous journey may you find peace and fulfillment of all your dreams for the next 7 generations and beyond. What you are doing is drying the tears of your ancestors and giving new hope to carry them forward. Such beauty and strength in your people.

I support two organizations of Native American children, Now I Love you and your people more, as well as all the Native American children. I will always honor your people present and gone.
Much LOVE and praying for these great people to get back their power in all possible meanings and lead us to the great connection and living in peace and harmony with the Mother Earth and all the beings! Which means to be in tune with our real selves.
"We are taught that the Native Americans helped the Pilgrims, and then they disappeared, nobody knows what happened to them." This is so true. Watching on Indigenous People's Day 2020.
Blessings and thank you..... America needs to heal from this tragedy. It never has, and you can see that things are getting crazier because we are so out of balance. I pray that people begin to wake up and listen and heal. In the last 3 years, I learned that my grandfather's family was murdered in Ukraine by the Nazis, and I also learned that I am Native American as well. I have always felt the pain of my ancestors even before I knew. My heart knew.
If you’re Hispanic then chances are you might have some type of Indigenous blood. Middle America (Mexico) and South America also had indigenous people. South and Middle America with the most well known (Aztec, Incan, Mayan, etc.). Is possible.
I look forwards to the time First Nations Peoples are put in positions of power in America. Until then, I believe they're an accursed nation. Give the Plains Indians Ancestors back their land!!!! Yours truly, an enlightened European.
My Great Grandma was from India and my mother is from Trinidads and my Father from China. I love My Parents and Where they From. If was not for them I would not be in this world Today.
Europeans in America spilled their own blood for the land. This story is one sided and does not go into detail all the times the indigenous people ambushed and raided European settlements, killing men women and children. The land was a spoil of war just as it is in any war in any land. Many times the indigenous people were not provoked and attacked and murdered people in European settlements. This video doesn’t mention any of that and sugar coats it all and then want to blame white people for their own short comings they themselves are responsible for in this day and age.
@@IslenoGutierrezIt's true yes. But in the 1960 there was still a significant amount of native Americans in North and south America, and your people (I suppose you are white) were in a position of power. Instead of coming to terms with your past and help the natives, your elites at the time decided to genocide them. So your people are *very much* responsible for this.
@@ze_kangz932 I’m spanish descent, so yes I’m white. But tell me, why do we have to be obligated to help Amerindians? We are not. They need to help themselves. If they can not, they will be overcome. Life is not fair and the world is not fair. As I stated my blood is Spanish. My ancestors are from Spain. Spain was conquered in the Middle Ages by Muslims from North Africa and the Middle East. For 800 years my ancestors were conquered until they fought back and regained what is now the lands of Spain (and Portugal). It took over 3 times as long as the US is old. If Amerindians want the American continent back, they will have to fight us for it. If they beat us they will get it back, if not it will remain ours for as long as we are on top and numerous. It’s quite simple. We are not obligated to help them. They are obligated to help themselves. But they are too small and too weak in number, so any Spanish style reconquista to retake the land doesn’t look possible as Amerindians are around 60 million total and whites are around 476 million total, both figures comprising their numbers in the total American continent (North, Central, South, Caribbean), not to mention whites have more money, influence, power, advanced weaponry and overseas reinforcements it would be like 1492 all over again if Amerindians tried to make that move.

I love it. Always a fan of Native success and spirituality. As a Muslim, it draws me in. Peace And Love.
asalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu - with regards from me, a yoeme native american who practiced islam for 5 years
I don't know who my people were, what they were called , what language they spoke, BUT I am proud of my Native American heritage. My nose, my long hair, the color of my skin. I love it all. I know one day the land in the americas will one day be ours again. I dream of the day. Until then...
Our grandmother’s prayers are still with us………so we must pray for the next seven generations ❤
Thank you so much for giving this speech!
Tears of both past and future; but in this gift of the present time in finding this Ted talks and our story. My father my mother are proud. 💛🧡
Every part absolutely amazing much respect
I pray for us all....
@domicile ubiquitis I’m Choctaw but keep talking out of turn and missing the point
Well said brother sister! Much Love from Germany *)
@@inyuinyu Thank you

its important to,learn and understand the different kinds of Tribes and their cultures,Its sad that people are not protected in their land, the rain forest should be protected land,we should all learn to respect and love one another and respect each other and our different cultures.

Thank you for sharing this amazing and inspirational video. I have been blessed to have been reminded of the richness of FN cultures. Well I don't think I can argue with this woman
Much LOVE and praying for these great people to get back their power in all possible meanings and lead us to the great connection and living in peace and harmony with the Mother Earth and all the beings! Which means to be in tune with our real selves.
Her story with her daughter is truly beautiful.

She brought me to tears at the 4th minute
Thank you for the touching profound wisdom. I could really hear the heart feeling behind the words.
"We are taught that the Native Americans helped the Pilgrims, and then they disappeared, nobody knows what happened to them." This is so true.
Watching on Indigenous People's Day 2020.
Yes.
Powerful! Thank you so much.
I feel your love thank you.
May God bless you and your people, keep you standing for your rights with strength that only HE can provide 🙏
thank you for speaking truth to power. someone need to and I hope many more will join you.
thank you thank you for sharing the culture and experiences of these beautiful people.
Powerful. Thanks oh for the gift of this message.
Thank you for what your doing!
So hearful! Great job you are doing! Beautiful voice!
I love to hear her speak. Such a beautiful person.
Beautiful 💛Light, Love and Peace to all beings of the universe 🙏💜
You touched my heart. Thank you my grandparents were born in New Mexico they say we have navajo but I'm not shure
I agree with you !! Thank you for saying this.
😢 to touch a soul deeply the words tell the truth the pain is released a new traditional way has been born. Such a beautiful song story feel privileged to see this Ted Talk 😢 ❤

Thank you for speaking. Sorry to see such few viewings. I did share to my Facebook friends. We have the Montana Youth Challenge Academy here in my little town of Dillon Montana. I have been fortunate to have made friends from members of our tribal community through my work as a wildland firefighter, wildland medic, and as a hydrologist. Glad that you have found your voice!
lim lemtsh much appreciated :)
I have traveled through your city of Dillion. I was very impressed. We visited your local museum with its Indian art. I am so glad you have set aside cultural differences and found respect for the indigenous people
In your area. You are a blessing.
@@dianemitchell1717 Much credit goes to one of our beloved doctors, Doctor Loge. After taking care of our bodies, he retired and was asked to look at all the artifacts. He worked with members of the Salish and Kootenai tribes. Having myself worked with the tribes, I was so happy. My daughter and grandson visited this summer and I sent them over as well. Underneath everything, we are human beings. All out of Africa. Just different paths.
Cried my eyes out. Thank you so much for this video.
lim lemtsh thank you
