- Get to know the Wembanyama Family
While Wembanyama may be an "alien" outlier in the basketball world, he is simply one of several athletes to emerge from his family. That includes his grandfather and mother, both of whom played basketball professionally; his Olympic athlete father; and his siblings, who have their own playing careers in France.
Considering the athletic pedigree of his family, it's no wonder Wembanyama is regarded as the can't-miss prospect and was picked number 1 in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Meet the Wembanyama family, a name that resonates with talent, ambition, and a fascinating story that transcends borders. Originating from the heart of France, the Wembanyama family has etched their name in the sport's history, particularly in the basketball world.
At the center of this family's extraordinary tale is Victor Wembanyama, a towering figure both literally and metaphorically in the basketball realm. Standing at a staggering 7 feet 4 inches, Victor isn't just tall; he's a skyscraper in sneakers! His journey from France's old-fashioned suburbs of Paris to professional basketball's dazzling lights is nothing short of a fairy tale.
Throughout Victor Wembanyama's meteoric rise to the NBA, his parents and siblings have supported him.
The rookie's parents, Félix Wembanyama and Elodie de Fautereau, raised him in France, along with his sister, Eve, and brother, Oscar. The three siblings bonded over their shared love of sports and appreciation for their family. Félix and Elodie encouraged their children to participate and find their passion in sports, and all three Wembanyama siblings picked up basketball. - Спорт
All I know is my Spurs better draft his lil bro and big sis next cause them Wembanyamas are beasts!
Hahahha true that!
Wembanyama origin
is from Congo
Proud to be Congolese 🇨🇩
❤️❤️
I understand because I think I am even prouder because i'm a Chesnaysiens french, which means I was born in the same hospital, grew up in the same city and went to the same school as him 😍😍 My brother even had his mom as a basketball coach she is wonderful and lovely !!
Mum and sister are beautiful
❤️❤️
Great Video... thank you for sharing!!!
❤️
Nice video, in fact his father was born in Belgium, it's Wemby who tells this in a documentary called "un1que"
Ah had no idea his dad was born in Belgium! Thanks for kind words bro
I don't think he was. It needs to be checked.
Not hard to imagine since Congo was a Belgium colony so they have many black with congolese origins
@@scarosboy2332 It's very hard to imagine why after being born in Belgium his family would have him back to the Congo. It's the kind of details that doesn't make sense for the trained eye.
@@scarosboy2332 Actually, after checking , here it is: he was born in the Congo and finished his undergraduate studies in Rambouillet, France, that's it.
Oscar is 6 foot 7 while being only 15 years old too, he can still grow quite bit, might even reach 7 foot even if unlikely.
Yea def agree
Yao Ming's parents were both tall athletes whom the Chinese government paired in the hope of producing a prodigy.
Imagine if Wemby winds up marrying s 6'5" woman...maybe an 8-ft. Wemby Jr. woth a 9-ft. Wingspan in a Spurs uniform.😊
🤣🤣🤣 sounds like a government project hahaha
I wonder 🤔will we ever see her playing in the WNBA LEAGUE one day🤷🏽♂️⁉️
There is a big possibility
Right on

Regression to the mean: tall parents will have tall kids, but they won't be as tall as their parents. Kareem, Bill Walton, Jordan, Magic, they all have tall sons, but none of them are taller than their fathers. As Wemby and Yao Ming have shown, there are always exceptions to this.
How do we make ourselves taller? Lol
❤

Fun fact: Victor was born and raised in Le Chesnay. LC is a Paris suburbs next to Versailles. It is one of the wealthiest and poshest areas you could think of, very very upscale. Actually, the Church of Jésus Christ of latter day saints (thé mormons) built their main European temple, there, recently. They don't exactly go to shabby places if you see what i mean.
Bottom Line is: it's Not exactly the kind of place where you generally find athletic talent.
I think they're relatively wealthy from the mother's family side.
Wow had no idea, thats amazing - i wish them all the best. Wemby looks very humble and i love that
The Wembanyama family was not wealthy (I say “was” because lord knows they are now). Both parents had respectable middle-income jobs. Le Chesnay is not particularly ritzy. It’s like any suburb in the Yvelines, west of Paris. There are nice parts and shitty parts.
Eve is older than Wemby. She’s not the younger sister.
Dont believe so
@@letsplayfullcourt yes she’s born December 10 2001. She’s older.
She was born 2001, she is the first child. @@letsplayfullcourt
THANKS for that information.
I've been wondering about who he is and what he came from.
Makes sense now that he is 7'4" with a 6'7" father and a 6'1" mother.
I hope he doesn't marry a 6 foot woman, he'd likely have
children 8 feet tall.
Hahaha how crazy would that be to have an 8 foot child
I didn’t know he was biracial lol. Nice family. He’s got a good head on his shoulders
Yup i agree - great guidance around him
It appears like more than 50% of NBA players are biracial in 2024😅😂
Well the world is a melting pot lol everyone is marrying everyone
I mean it's quite obvious, why are white people always so surprised... same kind of reaction when people saw the white mother of Zendaya or the white father of Jude Bellingham... most black people aren't that much light-skinned
Nah...Black athletes are marrying hot, white women...The world is NOT a melting pot.@@letsplayfullcourt
"Three times three basketball event." No one ever calls it "Three times three" like wtf.
Lool hey were not perfect
Totally
✌️
Eve is born in 2001 and Victor in 2004 but @3:58 it is mentioned she is his younger sister LOL

Hello lady
Hello
If they were USA citizens, you will hearing how parents divorced Long time ago
Yea bro its crazy everyone is getting divorced nowadays
Aren’t there 2 other younger brothers?
Really? Not from our research
@@letsplayfullcourt during the draft lottery there were two younger boys sitting in front of Wemby and his parents and again when he met soccer player Mappe.
@spicecreations1416 will look into this thank you!
