Anti-Cosmic Art is achieving levels that they must prepare to embrace a wider audience, this is not selling out, but delivering a divine message to the world. I'm sure some people just listen to the music, but this is truly Occult Art revealing the lawless spirit and true nature to man. Look at what TOTBL is doing with IXAXAAR, it's all a lot bigger than selling out some musical style, which in itself is illusion.
i always say young musicians make dense music because they want to cram all these ideas and energy into one project, the first might always be the last, when you're at watains current level, u can breathe more with every note, you can explore intricacies and subtleties, and this is much more rich in later albums than earlier ones, even tho the surface material might seem more simple. open your ears.
I agree. They definitely took many cues and influences from Reinkaos. Some of the riffs in this song sound eerily familiar. Reinkaos is one of my favorite albums of the genre, so i'm quite happy I finally have something that equals it, if not surpasses it.
E of Watain toured with Dissection as their bassist at one point, and, judging by interviews with him, had a rather close relationship with Dissections vocalist, Jon Nodtveidt. Not to mention Watain and Dissection shared very similar spiritual beliefs.
It's going to be a great album as always watain is one of the best black metal bands out there this moment the music the lyrics just unique support them!!
It is definitely a new sound. These new tracks don't sound like anything they have done before. Not sure how I feel about it yet. But I can't wait to see what else is in store. Watain has only failed to do one thing since their first album; disappoint me.
it reminds me a little bit of the change from dissection ( from storm of the lights bane to reinkaos ) . its a big step from sworn to the dark and lawless darkness to this tune. but still it's wonderful!!!
Interesting direction they're taking here. Not at all what I'd expect from Watain, but props to them for challenging their sound. It'll be interesting to hear the rest of the album.
I haven't been a WATAIN fan for nearly as long as most people in here but even I get it. Its not about simply being black metal like everyone else. Its a story, a chronicle, they have dug through the depths of the earth with vicious brutal metal, and now that they've come up top they can spread their wings with a much more vibrant and full sound of glory. Its not the peak, its not even a change, its the sound of celebration. I hear it, can you?
love it! and it's the same with all the people that complained about dissection and their style change...its great music, it doesnt matter if its super fast or aggressive or melodic. if it touches your soul, its authentic! fuck the world, hail watain!
I don't get why people don't like it. I read the comments and then spent the whole track waiting to hear something that sounded bad, but it didn't come. The people complaining about this have listened to their latest album, right? Because this stuff is pretty much the same as something you'd hear on Lawless Darkness. If, on the other hand, you're someone who listened to L.D. and complained it, and are now going to start complaining about this then *points* there's the door.
this is great when it hits the time 3:50 its like a 3 min solo but you will here something similar in dimmu's new album watch the dimmu trailer for the new album when shag does the solo. but regardless watain a temple to be untouched.
totally agree...even though it doesnt really seem THAT simple on the couple of tracks I heard...on the contrary..it has that ''prog'' feel that later Enslaved records have...quality songwriting I hear!!!
Non-musicians don't understand that musicians will grow and develop after years of writing music. (It means, their songs and style could even change.) Remaining stagnant and writing the same song over-and-over is very boring and indicative of non-growth in the eyes of a musician. They have already written their old material. Go listen to it if you don't like this. Very simple concept.
For the Watain style - they are part of the 218 current. And as for every musician, for them the most important is to write the music they like. If someone thinks it is shit - ok. But he should just realize than they don't write only for him. Hail true Watain! \m/
Yes myplague is correct. Also, "Set," the guitarist who played for Dissection after Jon was released from prison, plays for Watain. Watain was inspired by Jon's music in Dissection. Jon single handedly was Dissection, and he presumably introduced these people to the chaos gnostic religion and books, otherwise I doubt there would be a Watain. They're trying to connect with a certain "current" through channeling, ritual, and the music. But they haven't stood up to the Dissection standard.
I like the this new album. It's not my favourite, but a decent release. I don't understand people who want the same record over and over again. The last Lunar Aurora album that came out last year sounded nothing like what I was expecting, but kinda grew on me anyway. At least Watain still never went the way Dimmu did, (though I must say I like their side projects much better!).
Well I wouldn't expect them to live up to Dissection's standard, because they're two different bands with different songwriters. I can understand why they're associated, but many people seem to compare the two as if they are the same band releasing a giant catalog which is not the case. The two bands are still different and I don't think they should sound the same. They should live up to their own standards, not those of another band, no matter how closely knit they are.
Even Erik has said that they take influence from Dissection and Bathory and put their own twist on it. And how is thinking that Casus is the best being a poser? If you like it, you like it.
Never found too much substance in Watain. Saw them live and so forth. And although I admire that they're trying to do what they're doing, it definitely is missing that power that seemed to reside in the Dissection songs. Here's to hoping they improve though. I mean, that said, if I dedicated all my time to doing something like this, I doubt I'd be doing better.
sounds like a new Dissection's "REINKAOS" - total ad a great piece - evolution it's just for the superior being- even life dictates the eradication of the old dogmas, everything changes, everything evolve, everything rise from theirselves
I did, it was from that film how I got into their music in the first place. All I really got out of the film besides the great music was just erik or whoever was speaking stating how he was into mythology and was in contrast to some other shittier bands more dedicated to his artwork. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention to get what or what is so unique about the 'essence of watain'.
There is no one official numerology formula, there are a plethora of numerological systems, even just within the tradition of Gematria, there are so many different schools of thought and a lot of methodologies, it's quite possible they were just using a different system.
@@truanalain4266 I was just trying to make a nice little joking comment and move on with my life and you for whatever reason have a problem with that, get help, this shouldn’t even be a issue to begin with!!!
are you kidding me? Lawless Darkness was a true masterpiece, way better imo than casus luciferi. But im not sure about this new album yet, i`ll wait till i buy it
They're becoming more of a brand. Their music doesn't contain the same type of sonic qualities that Dissection was able to place into the music - you will notice a much different and very powerful feeling emanating from the music of Dissection unlike any other musical group, because Jon spent so much time focusing on the esoteric aspect of it.
Sorry I must ask, not in a mocking form but out of geniune interest, what exactly is the connection between Watain and Dissection? I hear all of these comparisons and people talk as if they shared members but I don't recall them being connected
I listened that album over and over and over again over so much years... I can't listen to casus luciferi anymore...i listened it dead. But you are wrong - I'am one of these people that always stopped listening "In Flames" after 30 seconds because i can't stand melodic death metal. I only like to listen esoteric themed black metal. Since 12 years..so does it really make sense to talk about In Flames or music in general with me? It doesn't, but though i still have an opinion bout this song here.
they did go more about the atmosphere and more experimentally........lawless darkness still scare's the shit outta me, you do the numerology on it and forget what your doing not good......still fucks with me......ha ha

This is very relaxing music to me. Great song.
Beautiful. Thank you, Watain. Makes many of my worries go away, as with all of your work.
I'm in love already... This is going to be the genre's upgrade.

every time I do concept artwork, this song hypes me up

This song should be the theme of planned parenthood.

MY FAVORITE SONG OF 2013!
This is a relief. I thank you, Watain. I'm rid of the burdensome child once within me.

Watain are my favorite black metal today!I got sworn to the dark in 2008or so,and that was a considerable amount of metal for my buck.
3:48 😈👍

Absolutely incredible! I can't wait to hear the rest of the record!
Really enjoying the new tracks Watain has bestowed up us! Hail!

I like it. Sound like the melodic songs from early Dissection.

Never heard of this band before (I think), but I like. This is good..
The moment you make music to impress others... you will fail..this is stunning.

PS plus, it maintains that typical Watain feel all over...each time they have a new record out, I still shit my pants in fear. cheers !!!!

It bears a certain similarity to Ancient, their Swedish brethren. Close to Proxima Centauri. That's a VG thing btw!!

In wide parts it sounds like Dissection, - their last album (forgot the title). Classic Heavy Metal mixed with clean Black Metal.
AWESOME BAND !!
Love this!
Do you even read my comment? I meant this has influences from Dissection and i hope the disc in general has more.
So much NEW Dissection influence. Quite like Reinkaos for me.

great tune, relevand black metal here. WHERE IS THAT PICTURE FROM?
Agreed. It lacks the balls that the first four albums had. Sucks, cause Casus Luciferi is in my top five albums
